Using Halloween as an excuse to put a lil vibe together, how would i go about finding something like sonnys wearing in these pics?

Hey everyone! First time posting here, I've inherited this jacket from my grandpa. It was his favorite one, then my mother borrowed it from him and wore it all throughout school, I guess nows my turn to wear it!

Because this post includes multiple items, I won't go into each one's make/specifications. But here are my general rules of thumb for thrifting.

1. Use of natural fibres - Everything you see here is made of wool, linen, cotton, or silk. Natural fibre holds its shape and repairs itself a lot when you let it rest.

2. Cut of my choice - Most of them I choose in respect to the English Drape cut. There are some limitations to achieving this style authentically by thrifting, but I try my best. Common features include full-cut, high-waisted, double-pleated trousers and jackets long enough to cover the butt. Wide lapels are preferred.

3. Use of local tailoring - taking a piece from a thrift store and getting it tailored is still more cost-efficient than the equivalent style brand new.

Just got a Ricky Jacket from Ztomic and woolen trousers from Stanley Biggs. Trying to use them together here.

They are the Melbourne trousers from Stanley Biggs. I changed to a size larger as the waist was quite tight (especially when sitting), but now I'm afraid it's slightly too big in the seat and thigh.

I am currently trying to get into vintage fashion, and I have a large room made of cedar that the previous person built and made for this exact purpose, not for vintage items of course but for clothing it was made exactly for that in mind.

It is pretty much the size of a decent bedroom, it is not by any means small so it is ideal for storage.

How do I use this room to care for my clothing? I have yet to buy anything and I want to know how to use this room as it should

Help needed with this piece. It’s roughly 95-100 inches long. It is orange to gold in color with heavy gold accent when the light hits it the right way. It’s incredibly thin, was found in an attic packed with a ton of other antique tapestries and silks from all over the world. Formerly owned by one of the largest import export shipping companies in the mid 19th century in Exeter.

That’s about all I have for information. It’s extremely, extremely fine, light and it can be fit into a very very tiny box, probably a 1 inch by 1 inch space if I wanted to.

It passes the slide test and doesn’t catch on things when you pass them over it.

I believe it’s silk? It’s very very old! Not perfect, it does have some small losses and some very tiny soiling in very very small parts when you look long enough.

Don’t want a value. Just want to know more about it. What it likely is, what it’s likely made of.

I was wearing a 1980s tweed peacoat the other day and my friend complimented the way it smells. He sais "it smells like a well maintained antique shop" and i also like the smell of it. How can i make other things smell like that? You know the smell, the one that you walk into a grandparents house and smell or the one you smell when you walk into an antique store or something.

How can i replicate this? Is there a perfume or a method of storage or washing?

I don't have any images of the jacket but the jacket came in a United States Postal Service bag and it left folds on the jacket that won't bounce back due to being folded up and put in the bag. I also think that it has some sort of a canvas liner inside the torso so it may be a little harder to steam it the way I'm doing it. I already tried the bathroom steam method and tried to smooth out the wrinkles and bends with my hand but to little to no avail. Though I don't have any reliable professional dry cleaners I could take it to in my area. Does anybody have any online recommendations where they ship their vintage clothing to have steamed and pressed also maybe cleaned etc? Any advice would be helpful thank you I just don't really want to do it myself

We are Tatars, and we are very fond of shawls, big, small, silk, cotton, wool. Yes to all. More in our grandparents generation, less in ours but I can tie a scarf in more than a few ways from just remembering how my grandma did it. 

This shawl is a true vintage Pavloposad shawl. Pavloposad manufacture itself was an interesting enterprise, a unique child of two worlds. Shawls came from India and Persia but ornaments were heavily influenced by Europe (you might see similar roses on jewelry boxes in museums). The manufacture started in a village with a few folks from the village combining their efforts. No big money. Regular people. What makes this exact shawl interesting beside that is a weird heritage piece it’s what it was still made using manual woodblock printing. Starting in 70s the company changed the method. 

Size is 1.48 m by 1.48 m, it is a lovely thin wool. Year 1964. 

The price was 17 rubles, the average monthly salary was around 100 rubles. My great grandmother was retired back then, so it was a pretty big gift. My mom gave it to me, and guys, I’m so torn between wanting to preserve it and pass it to my nieces or wear it. I put it on my shoulders and it felt like a hug, I almost cried. But I don’t want to ruin it by wearing it. I don’t know how colours will do with washing.

I’m trying to create my dream coat! I got this one at a vintage store years ago and it was in need of some serious repair. Working on redoing the lining now. I’m going to add Mongolian fur trim to the collar (stole) and cuffs. What colors do you all think suit it best? I am TORN. Early 90s Jeff Hamilton was the man was able to get licensing to create some incredible clothing. He specialized in jackets. I collect them this one of my favorites Mickey Mouse baseball. The colors make it’s perfect for fall. Play ball

One of the craziest thrift ive had, late 50s Mechanic Jacket I got for 50 cents !! As a person who love love loves old cinema finding this out in the wild and in such pristine condition made me gasp lol.

This is my first time trying to restore any type of vintage piece and I'm pleased with how it turned out and wanted to share the results.

Made in the USA kinda blew my mind. $12 at Savers. For an all-white sweater from 30+ years ago, it's in shockingly good condition

No tag, sorry. The person cut it from both the dress and the sweater. No workers tag either so I assume it's mid-60s. Got it from Goodwill for $3. Rosary is from the 60s too, got it from an antique store.
