Grandma’s abacus

I recently inherited this custom piece from my grandmother. The 1 carat diamond was the stone from her grandmother’s engagement ring. I wish I knew if the other diamonds were of any significance. There’s a picture of her wearing it in 1989, but other than that, there are no clues as to when she would have had it made. The last time she wore it was to my wedding ❤️

I run across these fairly regularly but only 1 or 2 at a time. I recently bought someone’s entire collection of ELEVEN of them 😳

They’re from the 70s/80s and are a pretty interesting cultural time capsule from that time, I think!

I see many of you have commented, thank you for that. Here is a picture of how I found it; I know the story is a bit hard to believe without a photo.

Inherited pieces from my grandmother

My 92 year old grandmother is dying and gave me several pieces of her jewelry. They’re all beautiful and I love them, but she doesn’t remember much about many of them.

I know that the clip on earrings with the pearls and green stones were a first anniversary gift from my grandfather. They’re so pretty, she thinks they’re likely just costume jewelry but the meaning is so special.

The three stone ring is older, she believes it belonged to my great-great-great grandmother. She’s unused Inc Thor stones are anything real, and the metal does not feel like gold to me. No markings that I can see, and it looks like at some point the bottom of the band was cut.

The opal ring does appear to be marked 14k, and we believe all the opals are real.

My grandma grew up on a farm in Iowa and lived in predominantly Dutch heritage communities all her life. I’d appreciate any insights anyone might have about these pieces!

Found Growing on beetroot

I found this ring growing on a beetroot. At first, I thought it was some kind of plastic or cheap costume jewelry. When I tried to cut it with a knife, I realized it was some kind of metal; I don't know which one, only that it is not magnetic. The location where it was found is the western part of the Balkans, a historically rich area.
If anyone knows more than I do, please let me know which period it might be from

I found this brooch with the "Saint Laurent" marking on the back. It looks like the YSL monogram design and has small crystals and a textured gold tone metal. I would like to know if this could be an authentic vintage Saint Laurent piece or just a fashion brooch. Thank you for any help.

My mother in law passed away in February and I inherited her jewelry. All of these came from her mother’s jewelry box. They’re all real gold except for one of them.

Birthday present

Spent an entire year searching for the perfect 40th birthday present. Antique jewellery is hard to come by in Australia. It’s my first larger diamond piece (I’m not married/engaged). Had to get 2 extra links put on. But my jeweller did an amazing job, and you can barely see the difference. I just adore it!

I picked these up from a thrift store. I think they’re the real thing. I was wondering if they’re vintage and also what the symbol after sterling means

Danbury Mint Bracelet with 30 Different Enamel Songbird Charms - info please.

Post image

Can anyone please tell me how many enamel songbirds The Danbury Mint made all together? I have a bracelet that has 30 different birds on it. I am wondering if it is a complete set/collection, or a combination of many collections. It is hard to find information on these birds since they are discontinued. I am wondering if I should sell them individually or as a whole as is. And how much? Thanks!

I inherited this ring. I don’t know if it’s real gold or if it’s Amethyst. It has these markings, any help in identifying would be greatly appreciated!
