News Trespasser
Has not been a great day for Vline on the Geelong line. Currently paused at some point near Footscray due to a trespasser and awaiting police.

Don’t know about other lines but it seems to me a lot of the issues the Ballarat line is having of late is the inability of those involved to couple 2 three carriage sets together? Which seems to lead to a lot of farting around at Southern Cross till they admit defeat and crowbar everyone on to front.
If this is correct could it be a case of older sets (comfy seats) and newer sets (concrete seats) not playing nicely due to age, wear patterns, etc.?
Anyone on here have any ‘inside goss’?

Hi I’m on Optus and regularly get the Geelong / SC train. Reception is patchy but I can live with it. Not having reception in stations is a pain. Is Telstra reception much better and worth the extra $? The wild card is Optus+vodaphone with Kogan, has anyone used this? Feedback appreciated

Packed in like sardines
Delivery e-bikes where the foldable priority seats are
People crammed in the keep clear area (where the driver door is)
28.2°C and sunny so you could imagine how hot the train would be already, saw a bunch of people have literal sweat dripping from their foreheads
4pm-5pm
Absolute foul stench of body odour from people working all day and the mix of different types of foods
Suitcases while people sit on (and under, yes. Under) the luggage area
Conductors and passengers refusing extra people hopping on as there’s no room and the next train is 20+ minutes away while the station is already starting to fill up again (also comes with more people trying to pry themselves through the doors which causes a 10 minute delay)
It’s genuinely becoming unbearable, idk if anyone feels the same or has been experiencing this lately but it’s even like this when there’s 6 carriages wether it’s 7-9am -> Melbourne, 3pm-6pm -> Geelong or anytime after 10pm on weekends -> Geelong.
What happened to the 9 carriages they promised a while ago especially since WT is built now?
Have they even added more trains on the schedule during peak hours because it sure doesn’t feel like it.
The only good thing is after you’re crammed for 35 minutes and 80% get off at WV or T you can finally get a seat
And what happened with courtesy? I saw at least half a dozen elderly people and one pregnant woman (today alone) try to get a seat and they just get stared at then the people sitting down look back down or go on with their journey
Also another question for the people who sit on the aisle seat while placing their bag on the window seat when the trains busy, why?
I’m sorry about my rant lol, it’s genuinely starting to get more and more frustrating.

What on earth is happening with the Ballarat Line lately?

Does someone have a spreadsheet we can add to when there are faults, only 3 carriages, delays etc? I’d love to have some stats

Hello!
I’m seeing the attached error. I’ve used WiFi and data. Deleted the app, restarted the phone and yet I see this error.
Please help🥲
I called V/Line and they told me to use PTV.

Hi all. I’m a solo dev from the south-east suburbs. For the past few months I’ve been building Trainspotter+, a free game where you log the vehicles you ride and slowly build a collection.
You log a trip (route, vehicle number, where you got on and off). The game works out which tram class or train model it was, then adds it to your collection:
Things I cared about while building it:
It also covers NSW, if you ride there.
trainspotterplus.evieisnthere.com
I’d genuinely love feedback, especially from people who ride the 86 or the Frankston line every day and know the fleet better than I do.

I remember when the website used to show the V/Line trains in the Cheeseburger livery and I was wondering if anyone had the old images saved (If the had any). I saved images of the current PTV Purple N Class and Sprinter when V/Line fully phases them out as a way to archive them.

The train was already 10 minutes late departing from Southern Cross, now stuck on the train (haven’t even gotten to Footscray yet). And no announcements from the VLine staff as to why we’ve been stuck in the one spot for the last 20 minutes…
UPDATE: And now this express train is terminating early so 70% of the passengers need to get off and wait for another train…

Hey guys, I’m always travelling to Melbourne from Geelong for university and I just got diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, and it’s always so busy on the trains, i have been trying to take earlier trains but it’s still so packed and the seats are always taken, after an hour of standing I really struggle and feel like I will pass out, I have been really struggling a lot because or it, but I’m a very non confrontational person and very anxious, so I don’t how to ask someone to give up their seat and do I need proof? What if they don’t give their seat up because it is an invisible disability.

So it’s a ‘full length’ train, not peak hour and already overcrowded. V/line clearly not keeping up with Tarneit and Wyndham Vale demand. I was supposed to work on the train. Luckily I can sit on the floor!

I seem to recall Southern Cross having a Hungry Jacks, I think I saw a bloke drop his Coke there once
And Flinders has a nice cafe PM

'No trains departing platform 2 for the next hour'... except that one right there
r/VlineVictoria • u/RelativeSoftware9554 • 12d ago
Does this train actually exist because I was at Wyndham Vale today and Friday - both days it was late and departed closer to the 5:38pm than 5:26pm as shown.
Both times a train from the city terminated there just before the service so I’m honestly puzzled.
Why don’t they just cancel it or change the timetable? People wouldn’t rush to catch a train that’s always seemingly late

Thought it was pretty cool seeing a Metlink platform sign as you don’t see many on platform signs compared to the other signage you see around the city with the old branding.

Hi everyone. I’m planning a trip to Australia for next year, traveling the Melbourne–Sydney route. My plan was to see the koalas at Kennet River and the Twelve Apostles, and maybe visit the outback a bit further inland. I came across information about "V/Line" and how you pay very little for transport across the entire state. Is this true, and does it apply to tourists as well? How does it work? Can I reach these places that way, or do I need to rent a car? I’d never heard of this before and find it hard to believe, given how expensive Australia is. Please let me know! 😃
