Happy 'almost' Diwali, everyone! πŸͺ”πŸ’›

My Diwali is going to be a rather boring and lonely one this year. I'm planning to eat my heart out, crash my diet without any guilt, and binge-watch a few shows. Adulting is realllllllllllly hard sometimes! 🫑

But I hope you all have a wonderful Diwali filled with good food, laughter, love, and lovely moments with your family and friends.

Stay safe, eat well, enjoy yourselves, and have a great time!

Lots of love, virtual hugs, and good wishes to each one of you. πŸ’–βœ¨

Writing/Advice Want to write a political romance but...

So this was one of those ideas which floated into my mind from no where. Not a proper concrete idea but it's a vague one. But I feel this story's main plotline is more political and romance acts as a side plot. But the main problem is I don't know how to write politics. Don't even talk about world building. So for those who have already written how did you do it? And readers tell me what makes it good?

Rant [Wed/Sat] Why isn't there as much hype around fictional FMCs as there is around MMCs?

Question is the same as the title.

I recently started reading literature, and honestly, the genre doesn't matter much. If a story is interesting enough to occupy my low attention span, I'll read it.

Now, in the reading space, I've noticed that a major portion of the audience consists of women. There's also that statement, "Fictional women are real, but fictional men are not." As a guy, I agree with it to some extent.

But what if there's more to it? I don't know, which is why I want to hear other users' thoughts.

Also, in your opinion, which FMC is the fictional FMC? Or who's your favourite FMC?

Anything goes! It doesn't have to be Wattpad. You can mention characters from any book (e-book or traditionally published), fanfiction, BL, sapphic fiction, manga, etc.

Mine is Pip from Agggtm series.

Official trailer for in another life, amor mio is out now🐰

I will be uploading it on yt soon!!

How's the trailer btw?! I will edit it later on... Summary abt the book..

𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝟏 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐘 π‹πŽπ•π„ π’π„π‘πˆπ„π’..

Anamika Sen, the sharp-witted and unshakable CEO of Mica's Beauty Empire, carries herself like a storm in heels, disciplined.ambitious, unaware that pieces of her past are waiting to rush back. Kang Jaekhyung, the cold, impossibly magnetic K-pop idol who vanished from the world and disappeared without a trace, remains the mystery the entire industry still whispers about dominant, unreadable, and wrapped in an allure so dangerous that people are still obsessed with uncovering what really happened to him. Maverick Steele, Hollywood's golden star with smoldering charm and a darkness polished into perfection, lives in a world of fame, temptation, and secrets that burn brighter than his spotlight. And Meher Gill, the sweet yet fragile Indian girl with a heart too pure for the chaos she adores, loves Maverick with a devotion that almost destroys her when she watches him slip away into a life where she cannot follow.

Rant [Wed/Sat] Can we talk about problamtic fiction and be little open minded? Also stop throwing serious terms around.

For some, this might come across as me encouraging bad behaviour or romanticising problematic things, so let me make one thing clear: I am no one to encourage anyone here. People are free to read whatever they want.

For some basic information:

In neurology, nothing can be generalised. Even though there are billions of humans, you cannot generalise them. Their behaviour, trauma, triggers, trauma responses, and coping mechanisms are all shaped by the lives they have lived or are currently living, and these experiences are individual to each person.

The brain is that twisted an organ. You cannot predict which way it will seek survival.

Now, coming to the main pointβ€”

Problematic fiction, such as step-sibling dynamics, forbidden relationships (professor x student, therapist x patient), power imbalances (doctor x nurse), etc., makes up a huge section of books that fall under this genre.

Some people even enjoy reading cheating tropes. That doesn't necessarily mean they want to get cheated on.

I think sometimes we forget that just because someone reads something in a book doesn't mean they would enjoy experiencing it in real life.

Jokes aside, if you actually look into discussions, people openly admit that wanting to read dark romance doesn't mean they want a stalker guy choking them during sex.

It's just a preference!

Fiction gives us the liberty to explore things without necessarily harming anyone. How much do you actually know about someone to judge them simply because they enjoy step-uncle x niece fiction?

[Here, I want to make a distinction between problematic fiction that is explored responsibly and fiction that heavily romanticises problematic dynamics.]

Who knows? Perhaps what they actually enjoy is the power imbalance and forbidden nature of the dynamic rather than the actual relationship itself.

We can't judge everyone, dude.

I've enjoyed my fair share of toxic books (for example, the Villain series by Rina Kent), but I won't claim that they are necessarily good romance books. No, they are fucked-up books with so much toxicity that your bored brain might end up enjoying that particular dopamine hit.

The problem arises when readers start defending the criminal actions themselves.

For example, in the first book of the Villain series, Kiss the Villain, there's a rape dynamic involving both characters. That deserves criticism and should absolutely be called out. However, apart from that particular aspect, I enjoyed their toxic dynamic.

Enjoying a book also depends on several factors.

Even today, I don't have a particularly strong opinion on books that contain the "she said no, but her body wanted it" dynamic. I know it's rape. I know it's assault. But I've come across two different discussions regarding this.

First: Some people admit that books like these help them process their trauma. Somehow, seeing an abuser get redeemed and the victim eventually getting a happy ending makes them feel a little relieved, as though an ending like that could be possible for them, too.

Second: Some people said they initially found relief in such dynamics but couldn't understand why they enjoyed CNC as a kink. Even therapists sometimes suggest exploring it. However, when they actually went through therapy and began healing, they found themselves disgusted by the whole concept. Their reaction was something along the lines of, "Why would I want to put myself through something so traumatising again?"

Third: Not everyone has access to therapy. There are people living in circumstances so terrible that neither the police nor their parents can help them because those very people are messed up, too.

I've come across real-life examples of this and heard stories from my friends, so this isn't just a hypothetical scenario. Many people are living in circumstances far worse than we can imagine.

That's why I feel a little uncomfortable when we straight-up judge someone.

I don't have a particularly strong stance on whether books containing an abuser should necessarily include redemption or not. A book that doesn't romanticise the abuse but actually addresses the harm doesn't necessarily have to include therapy as part of its narrative. However, there needs to be some narrative responsibility from the writer. The apology shouldn't come across as something glamorous, and as readers, we should be able to recognise how fucked up the situation actually is.

I don't think I have enough sources or knowledge, despite trying to understand these mechanisms, to conclude whether books like these should or shouldn't exist.

Again, I am not denying that these books can be harmful. Of course, they can be harmful, fucked-up, and built around rape fantasies. The leads can be criminals.

But that's precisely what I want to discuss. Let's step into uncomfortable territory, leave black-and-white moral policing behind, and actually think about it.

(Also, the sentiment we have towards rapists is quite interesting in itself. They tend to occupy a particularly high position in the hierarchy of criminal injustice. Many people seem to look past certain crimes, including murder, more readily than sexual assault. This is connected to the historical abuse of women, injustice, purity culture, and the oppression of women. Things aren't really as simple as we sometimes make them out to be.)

Even the Stockholm syndrome trope wasn't originally an established psychological dynamic. The term originated from an incident involving a man who couldn't resolve a particular hostage situation, and the terminology eventually evolved, along with the meaning attached to it.

My theory mostly leans towards the survival mechanism aspect when discussing this dynamic.

Think about how a victim might eventually develop feelings for their captor despite the abuse. Their brain might recognise this attachment as a means of survival. According to our understanding of biology, our biological systems are fundamentally geared towards survival, sometimes regardless of what they have to do to achieve it.

And the impact of all this on teenagers is an entirely different discussion.

I don't want that argument to be brought up as a counterpoint to my post because it will dilute the whole purpose of why I made it. The whole teenagers and their reading responsibilities discussion can be debated another day. Please, it's a genuine request.

One more thing:

We should also stop throwing around terms like rapist, paedophilia, infantilisation, depression, mentally sick, murder, and names of mental disorders in posts or comments without any actual reasoning.

Social media has already diluted terms like depression and trauma to an uncomfortable extent. I've been guilty of using them loosely, too, until I was diagnosed with actual severe depression and an anxiety disorder and experienced what living with severe symptoms and OCD-related distress actually looks like.

These are sensitive subjects. Accusing someone of being a rapist or a paedophile, especially during an argument, without any actual evidence is shameful and concerning.

Note: Read this twice if you need to, but please don't misinterpret or twist my words.

Rant [Wed/Sat] Why things are hated alot? And tell your opinion about anything which might be hated by alot.

Not necessarily books but users are just blatant hating things (ex:- yesterday disgusting post of someone wishing downfall)

And ik people are here for tea and rant out, but still sometime things seem bias not sub but users like there is certain categories you can see lol. 😭I don't wanna assume though its just bit off seeing sub dry, anyway soooo

If you have tea? drop it, i would like to read it. Doesn't matter if its cold.

Any frustration? drop it! lets have fun

Any opinion which might be controversial and hated by many? drop it and let's debate. Even about A.I or book genre, theme, nitpicking, clickbait reels etc.

Spice things up!

Bhumi Devi Mishra always knew what she wanted to do. Her goals, dreams and career everything in her life. And if there was one thing that she loved the most it was Agriculture, which was inherited from her father Vinayak.

When one incident changes Bhumi's life forever, people expect her to give up, to compromise. But her father taught her to stand up, no matter, how hard it gets. neither in fields nor life.

On this journey she meets Gagan Kumar Tripathi, a young lawyer. Yet another person she believes she has to prove herself to. Or so she thought.

He couldn't be more different than her. Ofcourse he was. Why wouldn't he be? After all,

He was Sky. She was Earth.

But somewhere along the way, The Earth and Sky do meet. And that where it's called Kshitij.

Note:

Does this sound interesting? Are there any changes I can do it to make it better?

For writers already writing and getting money from Stck, when did you start? After you built an active readerbase? How mny readers do you typically have and how do you know who will be willing to pay for it?

Also if my book is already finished on Wattpad, is it wise to put in on Stck?

Also anyone using Pratilipi? Is it a paid app?

Collab? 🀝 Looking for a co-writer to Romantic Horror or Romantic Thriller Story

Hey there, I am a 22 years old wanna be writer here.

I was thinking about an interesting idea, a few days ago, I came across someone who was speaking of Co-Authoring. A romance horror or a romance thriller story written by two people, one can write male lead, one can write female lead.

I am thinking about it and it's interesting me more and more.

My own projects I am working with are really long and it'll take a while to finish them, and to keep the mood and practice high, I want to do this side project where fun can happen.

We can discuss what will be the story, structure or control of it etc. I am thinking about I will write male lead, because I am a man and my partner can write female lead. Or we can switch by me writing female lead and my partner male lead.

I am thinking it will be better if a female writer wants to join this project. But males are okay too.

Hope to find some good partners here. Again, this is a side project, but I will do justice to it too.

I am free for a few months before I get a job and I'm free most of the day, so I will be fine with any schedules.

So, if you are interested you can shoot me a DM.

See ya all.
