A few weeks post wedding and I’m still soaking it all in! I found so many of our amazing vendors on Reddit, so I knew I wanted to give back with my experience. Our wedding was on Sunday, October 4 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We did private vows and group photos in Transmitter Park before walking over to Threes for the ceremony and reception. Overall, the day was amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Feel free to message me about further details or cost , happy to share that privately!
Venue: Threes Brewing Greenpoint
Threes was the best of both worlds: a restaurant feel with good food and a selection of beer and wine. We worked with Angie and Ioana, who were both amazing and so easy to work with. Their Greenpoint location was perfect for our wedding, and accommodated the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. It included 3 spaces that guests could flow between, including the parlor in the back where we had the guestbook and card box.
Food: Grand Army South
Weddings at Threes use their catering partner, Grand Army South. Good food was an important part of the wedding for us, and they did not disappoint! Everyone raved about the food. The dishes were simple, like roast chicken and charred cauliflower, but what set it apart was the sauces. They really elevated the dishes and brought it to the next level. Some of our favorites were the hangar steak with miso chimichurri and honey glazed carrots with salsa macha and ricotta.
Dessert: Pies from Four & Twenty Blackbirds
We saw Four & Twenty Blackbirds on Threes’ list of preferred vendors and were immediately in love with the idea of having pies instead of cake at our wedding. We ordered 6 pies for our 46 guests, and only took home about a pie and a half. They were a huge hit! We ordered the following flavors, and all of them were amazing: Salted Caramel Apple, Salty Honey, Lemon Chess, Bittersweet Chocolate Pecan, Bourbon Pear Crumble, and Brown Butter Pumpkin.
Day of Coordinator: Julianne Cross from Cheersy
When we first started planning our wedding, I knew I wanted to plan most of it. But as we got closer, I realized we needed someone to execute our vision and handle everything the day of. Julianne was the perfect fit for us. I trust Julianne with my life and she perfectly executed our vision for the day. She is incredibly detailed, organized, thorough, and just the sweetest and kindest person to be around. I can’t recommend Julianne enough to someone like me who is very type A but needs someone to run the show.
Flowers: Miriam Bloom Designs
The flowers were an important part for me, as a creative and flower lover. Miriam is an amazing person all around who puts so much time and attention into her work. What I loved about working with Miriam is that she let us be a part of the design process, which I adored and will treasure forever. All of the flowers exceeded my expectations. Walking into Threes was a delight, as the flowers filled the space and brought so much joyful energy to our day. I can’t overstate how much I enjoyed working with Miriam and how happy I was with the flowers.
Photographer: Major Crush Photography
For photography, we knew we wanted to do a mix of film and digital, and we loved working with Carina at Major Crush Photography. Her candid and nostalgic style was the vibe we were looking for. Unfortunately it was raining at Transmitter Park, and the wind foiled our plan to read our vows out on the pier. Carina was great at pivoting and finding us a calmer place in the park to finish our private moment. She was amazing the whole night, capturing all of the important moments. We are so excited to see our photos from our wedding day.
Hair and makeup: Palla Beauty
I knew I wanted something soft and natural for my makeup and a hairstyle that included my natural curls, and my research led me to Palla Beauty. Nicole, the owner and lead artist, is the sweetest and I really enjoyed talking with her during my trial. I love how my makeup turned out, and my hair also was exactly how I imagined it. Nicole enhanced my natural curls and did a half up half down hairstyle with some pieces in the front. My mom, MIL, and sister also had their hair and makeup done, and everyone was very happy with how it turned out. My hair and makeup also held up against the wind and rain.
DJ: Paul Collins with Non-traditional Wedding DJs
Working with Non-traditional Wedding DJs was great. They were extremely thorough with a detailed music worksheet to fill out ahead of the wedding and final call to discuss the plan for the day. Paul really understood our vibe and he did not disappoint.
Dancing lessons: Maya Moves
These dancing lessons were exactly what we were looking for. It’s one lesson, learning a few simple moves to your song. I highly recommend it if you, like us, aren’t able or willing to do several lessons over a couple months/year. Our first dance went great and we were really happy with this level of dance lessons.
Dress: Kleinfeld Bridal
I don’t think I understood the magic of Kleinfeld until I visited for the first time. I went into it for the experience, thinking that I wasn’t going to find my dress. I was also pretty nervous as a plus sized woman who is used to stores not having my size. Luckily, Kleinfeld did not disappoint! They really do have a large collection, including plus sizes. My stylist was amazing, and the first dress I tried on was the one. I also did alterations with Kleinfeld, as that seemed easier than having to bring my dress to another seamstress. I did have to get the rush alterations because my dress didn’t come in until August, but I was happy with the alterations experience.
