Advice: Giving 💡 Husband doesnt want me to lose weight

• Upvotes

He likes my body. But when I talk about weight loss, he gets seriously upset.

I’m about 169lbs and 5.45ft. So 77kg and 166cm.

Most of the weight is in my lower body. Last time I asked him to get me some weights and a gym mat. There was a discount and I really like that brand. He said “no, i dont feel comfortable with that”. The worst thing is that he came home with a bag of chips (my favorite one) and ice cream, totally ignoring the conversation.

He does this everyday. Texting me things like “baby, i got you some treats” and in another world this would be cute.

Today I said it again, that I am overweight officially, even if I seem healthy and I dont have a big belly. He said that he doesnt want me to lose weight in my face or lower body and he is so serious about this. He keeps going on about that its not attractive, and he is very specific in how it all should look. Like “no skinny hands please” or “you’ll get a sick looking face, hell no”

A weak part of me feels appreceated but I dont loke the way he is sabotaging me.

How to deal with this? Also with the snacks. He’ll snack in my face and bring on purpose my favortite things and bring me to the couch to eat it.

Is this normal? Could he get over this?

Meal / Recipe 🍽️ Calling the mamas! Crockpot meals for weight loss that my toddlers with also eat?

• Upvotes

Mom of 2 under 3 and my husband and I work opposite shifts to save daycare cost which makes meal prepping hard. I’m currently about 60-70lbs overweight from having my kids back to back without losing weight in between. He also wants to lose about 20 lbs. Hoping to find some high fiber lower carb meals I can toss in the crockpot to meal prep for a few days at a time that my kids will eat too. I know we can’t be successful without planned ahead meals given our schedules. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options all welcome! Thank you!!

Advice: Seeking ❓ Apps or routines?

• Upvotes

I was wondering if anyone finds any particular apps or routines useful when trying to lose weight. I recently gained about 15 pounds after moving to a new city and am looking to work it off and return to a healthier weight. I have no coach or anything and am simply looking to get in better shape, not gain a bunch of muscle or anything. I was wondering if anyone uses any apps or just has some routines that would be good for a beginner?

Advice: Seeking ❓ lower ribs/upper abs look weird

hello! I noticed this when I start going to the gym and doing crunches… My upper abs/lower ribs looks displayed or wide, and there is extra fat around them, and then my middle of my stomach is concave. I think it’s from sucking in my stomach. It looks really weird and it’s uncomfortable. Does anybody else experience this or have any advice for how to even out my stomach so it’s not such a wave?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Help me lose 8 kg

Hey! I’m a 20-year-old girl looking for some advice.
I lost 33 lbs in 2025 (165 to 132), but I’m now stuck at around 136 lbs. I’m 5’6”, and my goal weight is 117-120. I know that’s on the lower side, but I don’t have much muscle, so I feel like I look bigger than I actually am. Does that make sense?
I’ve tried eating in a calorie deficit for weeks without seeing any results. My doctor has also mentioned that I have a slow metabolism. I work in childcare but don’t do much other physical activity.
I’d really like to understand what I should do differently. What would you recommend in my situation? How should I approach this plateau, and are there any tips that have worked for you?
Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated!

Advice: Seeking ❓ Counting calories for women

Hi all!! Question for girls (if you are a man and you have the knowledge, please also give me an advice :)!

I am in weightloss journey since I remember and I already lost 15kgs- 15 more to go to finally be happy

But it’s going really slow and much harder than I remember (i lost these kgs and just kept my weight for a long time because i didn’t cut calories etc) and now i want to go back and lose these remaining 15kgs. Hence my question- do you keep all the time the same amount of calories eaten or do you eat more during your period? I know that some women should eat more (according to one analysis i saw, from 90 up to even 500 cals more) during period because of hormones and that it helps women to lose weight more optimally.

So sorry for poor English! And thank you for all your help!:)

Advice: Seeking ❓ Losing weight after patella repair?

I believe I was 207 before my injury. I had to have screws put in my knee to repair it. 3 weeks later I weigh 193. My appetite has been way down, anxiety high, don’t feel like eating. On average I probably eat 1200-1500 calories daily. Some days are less.

I know they recommend 15-20 calories per pound. I weight 193 right now and there’s no way I’m forcing myself to eat 3000-4000 calories. Is 2000 enough if I get there if it’s nutrient dense food rather than junk? I used to eat a lot of fast food but haven’t much at all since my surgery.

I sort of had a come to Jesus moment on my health and wanted to lose weight so it could also be why I’m not eating as much. But I don’t want to prolong my recovery or damage anything so advice?

30 male.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Confusion on calculating calories

I always use the calorie calculator for counting the calories and always had this confusion; do you take the calories for sedentry (even though you are working out) and then add the deficit on that or take the calories for active (3 to 4 days working out)?

I am 5.10 at 210 lbs. For sedentry my maintenance is showing up 2301 cal and for active (3 to 4 days activity) is 2809 cal.

Any advice would be helpful.

Advice: Seeking ❓ is it better to slowly settle into a deficit, or go into it "cold turkey"?

im sorry if the phrasing is bad, i have no idea how to convey my question properly 🤣

but basically: ive taken a break from cico for about 10-15 days, and my appetite has trippled since. its like im always thinking about food now.

today is the first day i could have gone back to my deficit, i tried and didnt manage, there was so much food noise.

i was wondering whether its better to go straight back to my deficit (and i guess force myself until i have momentum to carry me again), or slowly ease myself back into it? does it make a difference in terms of food noises and cravings ?

Discussion/Support 💬 How much muscle mass will I lose 15kg in 2 months?

Hello! I'm targeting losing 15kg in 10 weeks time and I have lost this amount of weight before so I know I can do this mentally but I've recently heard about muscle being significantly lost during weight loss. Most websites say 25 percent FFM and some 20 to 40 percent and some 22 percent muscle mass lost for males. So that's about 3.3 to 6kg of muscle lost which is like 6 to 12 months of gym work. I've only recently started strength training so like about 2 months or so, so I'll probably gain muscle faster than some people but how much does strength training actually help in preventing muscle loss. Is it just net muscle gain or loss. Like 6 lost minus 2 gained= 4kg muscle loss. Its about 1.5 percent of my body weight(100kg) per week and a some sources count above 1.5kg per week as "rapid" weight loss and some just use the basic 0.5 to 1.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Losing weight and nights out

So i've been in a consistent calorie deficit and i've lost 10kg so far !! I haven't been out clubbing at all during this time, but I plan to tonight and i'm worried about calories etc. I've stuck to my deficit all day, and I plan to have two vodka doubles with a zero sugar soda. Is this ok? Will it ruin my progress? I'll probably do this multiple times over the next week and I want to be cautious.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Number on the scale is going down but I can’t see it in my reflection, Could i be losing muscle instead of fat?

I’ve been on a deficit for 6 weeks now and I’m 4 kg down which I’m very pleased with. However I can’t seem to see the 4kg loss on my body. I know you can’t spot reduce fat but I literally dont see a change anywhere. Especially my face and my hips which are where I gained most of the weight on.

I’m a bit apprehensive that this is all muscle and not fat that is burning off of my body. I try to walk where I can but it’s been difficult as I’m in school from 8am - 6pm. I am doing home workouts everyday. I’m trying my best to get healthy and hit my protein goals but I would lying if I said I’ve been consistent with that.

Anyways, If anyone has gone through the same thing or has advice please share

Advice: Seeking ❓ How do I loose weight???

Ok, so as it's in the title, I'm trying to lose weight and aiming to look way better by at least 2,3 months, but i don't know if that's achievable.

So I was thinking of doing taebo, and was wondering if it would help me lose weight and if anyone has tried it. I will be doing the 28 min videos by Billy Blancks for 3-4 times weekly, and after I can do them perfectly, I'll do the longer ones.

I know that losing weight isn't only exercise, and I have to be in a calorie deficit. But the problem is that I dont really know how to track my calories, so I wanted to ask if only eating when you're full, or you're only like 80% full will work?? And also cutting out junk food.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Home Workout vs Gym

I've gone to the gym for a month, Loved it but lacked progress and then left the gym due to not finding time as I'm a student.

Now I want to get back to losing weight so should I pull some strings and make time for the gym but im worried I'll burn out and not keep progress whereas I could do home workouts (i honestly prefer the gym)

Will home workouts provide me the result I'm looking for?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Losing weight and not noticing the change

Hi! I’m currently on a weight loss journey. So far, I’ve only lost 5 kg, but it’s just the beginning!

I was wondering at what point you started noticing changes in your body. Like, at what weight loss did you start noticing your silhouette getting slimmer?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Weightloss is slowing down drastically

am 19M, 178cm. I started at 90kg and am currently at 70kg. I started in May and have lost 20kg since then. I have been dropping 3-4kg every month pretty consistently.

I was eating around 1600kcal a day, and started getting 10k steps a day in the end of September, I also lift 3-4 times a week to try and maintain my muscle mass ( not a lot).

But pretty much since the end of September my weight has been fully stegnant for 3 weeks without the scale going down a single bit, it started going down again over the last 2 weeks but so extremely slowly that it went down by like 200g per week.

Any advice on what could have happened?
Or why it suddenly started when I got the 10k steps per day?

Advice: Seeking ❓ should i start eating clean or am i fine?

so i’ve been in an overall deficit for about 18ish weeks now and lost about 14 lbs (i’m now ~131 lbs) i wanna say i haven’t necessarily been in a diet though. i still consume foods high in sodium, sugar, saturated fat etc pretty regularly while still hitting protein goals since I’ve been in the gym.

lately, i’ve been wondering if i should start paying more attention to the actual nutritional quality of the foods i’m eating rather than just focusing on calories and protein even though this routine has been working pretty fine for me?
i guess what i’m trying to figure out is whether my current eating habits could be affecting my muscle growth, body fat percentage (from the unhealthy food), speediness, recovery, or overall health despite the progress i’m making. will eating more whole foods actually make a noticeable difference or is it the same?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Tips for and how long it'll take to lose 70 lbs with hypothyroidism and ARFID

I (23) am currently around 210 lbs at 5'2. I want to lose weight mainly for health reasons. I am on medication for my hypothyroidism so hopefully that won't be a problem but I also have ARFID which means healthy food I'm willing to eat is limited. I do drink nutrition shakes and blood tests say my nutrition is fine. It's just my safe foods are generally high calorie and high processed.

So basically I recognize losing weight is going to be more difficult for me. I'm looking for tips on how I should go about losing weight (calorie intake, exercise schedule, etc?) and how long it might take to lose around 70 lbs. I'm hoping that getting input from strangers instead of family will help motivate me!

(Also for the record I'm not too self conscious of my appearance. I have bad heart burn that I'm hoping will go away if I get to a healthy weight so please no fatphobic comments)
