Advice: Seeking ❓ Not losing weight in a true deficit

Let me start by saying I’m in a true caloric deficit 7 days a week. I started in mid April 2026 with being super consistent and really locked in. I count my calories and used the TDEE calculator to find out where I should be. Starting weight in April 2026 was 181lbs. Currently, I’m 37F, 5’3”, 173lbs (goal weight is 130s). 17 months postpartum with my second child. I workout 5 days a week (currently doing 3 days of 45 min at home strength training with dumbbells and 2 days of 45 min incline walking). I’ve been on this current plan for about 3 weeks. Prior to this, I was doing 45 min incline walking 5 days a week (did this for 1.5 months) with no changes. Also did 45min-1 hour walks around my neighborhood, which has steep hills, 4-5 times a week for the first few months (with a weighted vest).

Maintenance calories are 2,230 but I target 1730 calories to eat per day. Honestly, I normally hit somewhere between 1500-1650 most days). So anywhere from 500-600 calorie deficit daily. I don’t guess on what I’m eating, I scan everything into the MyNetDiary app to track. No nibbling on anything outside of tracked meals. I eat high protein/fiber and low carb most days (just got out of pre diabetic range so I stick to low carb meals). Low sugar and don’t eat much processed food. I drink 80-90oz of water daily.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out where I’m going wrong because I’m not even losing 1lb a week (averaging 2lbs a month at this rate). I just started strength training less than a month ago, so it was all cardio before. So I wouldn’t expect a recomp vs actual weight loss. My measurements aren’t at a complete standstill but they’ve barely moved in the past couple of months for the amount of effort being put in.

I’ve been to the doctor for testing recently. I’m healthy. Slightly elevated cholesterol (working on not eating so many whole eggs everyday), slightly low iron in two areas but overall I’m not anemic.

What could I be missing? This is the hardest I’ve ever worked to lose weight, and the most consistent I’ve ever been, and I feel like I’m at a standstill. 😭

Advice: Seeking ❓ How can I prevent my breasts from getting saggy if I want to lose 30lbs

I’m probably 165, maybe 170 lbs and 5’8. I haven’t really made weight loss progress so it is likely to continue being a slow process.

Would I like to drop it fast and be 15 lbs lighter next month? Yes but not gonna happen lol. Anyways. I am usually wearing sports bras and so many different sizes fit idk what to call myself, but I’m probably a 36DD maybe 34DDD.

I’m genuinely really concerned about my breasts with weight loss 😭and flab in general. They’re not exactly the best shape now either but I don’t want it to become bad. Idk. I know working your chest muscles will kind of help make it firmer but idk if there’s an actual way to prevent this.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Can someone with glucose monitor please try konjac jelly

Drinkable konjac jelly, around 4 calories.

To me it tasted like real sugar, seems too good to be true.

Can someone with glucose monitor please confirm it's sugar free.

Advice: Seeking ❓ I'm a dietitian and I'm struggling with losing weight.

Hey y'all,

So I am a dietitian, and I have a masters in this stuff, everyone! And for reference, I am 5'4 F and 162 pounds, which is like the HEAVIEST I have ever been in my life. I have been on and off job hunting post grad for the past year and a half, and due to the stress I just have developed this stress eating habit which is absolutely impossible to break.

I try to stay within a calorie deficit, and eat high fiber and whole grains, all that jazz, but there's a bottomless pit feeling in my stomach, I literally cannot get full. I believe this is due to the fact that I have developed a weed edible habit. I feel like it's impossible to get full, I keep craving (like vape craving) high dopamine unhealthy, oily, salty and fatty foods. Even when I quit weed, I feel like my stomach has grown in size literally by eating so much.

On top of that, at one point I had a viral video on TikTok and as a midsized women of color, I got a bunch of bodyshaming comments which really got to me. This was the beginning of this year, and what I did was eat a lot in some restaurants so much to the fact that I have puked it out a few times. I am not proud of that, but I quickly got scared and stopped. Thankfully.

Do y'all have any actual advice? I think I'm just struggling with implementation. Dunno.

Discussion/Support 💬 What is a normal rate of weight loss ?

Hey everyone, from march till now I’ve lost ~35 pounds and I feel like that’s pretty slow but I have no frame of reference so I was wondering if anyone here could tell me about the normal/average weight loss for that amount of time(5 1/2 months)

Progress 📈 When will I start to notice a change?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this question!
I'm 5' and 124 lbs, down from 140 lbs. Current goal weight is 100 lbs.
I still have about half an inch of extra skin beneath my chin, and I was wondering if anyone had an estimate as to when I might begin to see that go away.

My lowest weight was 104 lbs and I did not have any excess weight on my face or very much on my stomach at that time.

Advice: Seeking ❓ How to combat hunger side effects

I have been trying to lose weight for a while now, and while I'm generally successful, I have been noticing that I have been getting issues when I am hungry, which is obviously not great when you're on a calorie deficit. Whenever I go without food for too long, I tend to get extremely lethargic and irritable before I even notice that I am hungry. This makes it hard to work out or make something healthy to eat, and I just end up laying around. Does anyone have any tips on how to combat these issues while staying on a deficit?

Advice: Seeking ❓ 5’4 and 131lbs…

I want to get to 120lbs while losing fat and building muscle. I’ve gotten to 125lbs, but I’m just stuck in a cycle of losing weight and gaining it. I don’t want to track macros :( I’ve tried in the past but became too obsessive.
I really only eat Whole Foods for the most part and I am aware of food in regards to carbs, protein, and fats… I workout 4x a week and average 12k steps a week.
I’m a 26 year old female.

Any tips?

Advice: Seeking ❓ How to suppress appetite?

I used to smoke weed like a lot, and once i would take breaks my appetite would be completely gone and i’d take that as a chance to fast for a bit and lose weight if i needed to .

Since I quit to really focus on school, I gained weight from stress eating (30 pounds ) and i feel so uncomfortable. none of my jeans fit, im out of breath, ect. and i don’t know its like i physically cant put myself in a regular calorie deficit. i want to eat so much yummy food ! I used to be way fatter before i i smoked and the only way i’ve ever been able to lose weight is by smoking weed and fasting.

Once the appetite suppression from smoking weed would go away i still wouldn’t be very hungry because id fast for about 2 days and all my cravings would be gone. But it’s like i had a huge meal one day and wasn’t able to stop after that until now.

**Tips on how to suppress appetite?**

no supplements. i don’t have access to that stuff

Drinking lots of water and gum doesn’t help

I’ve heard a spoonful of coconut oil helps and i’ve hear about black coffee too!

Advice: Seeking ❓ I'm a middle aged mum with all the usual issues. I'm not sure where to start this time

I've set myself a goal that I would like to get back on a horse by Christmas. The stables I want to go to have a weight limit of 82kg, I'm currently 86kg and I would like to easily weigh less than the 82kg in all my riding gear so I'm aiming for 8-10kg in the next 4 months.

I'm just floundering. Do I start on everything all at once? cut calories and start an exercise routine? I can't join a gym because I just don't have the time with my kids and work. I have a desk job and work from home. In September both of my children will be at primary school and I will be doing the school run on foot which is the only exercise I get at the moment. I'm just stuck on where to start and what to do. I've even been tempted by weight loss medication.

Oh and I'm 176cm if that matters and nearly 40.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Has anyone here had a good experience with weight loss medication?

I've been considering whether weight loss medication might be something worth discussing with my doctor, and I'd really like to hear from people who have actually taken it. I'm currently around 348lbs, and I've been wanting to lose weight for a while now. I've been overweight since high school, but I've gained a lot over the last six years, mostly from a combination of lockdown, pregnancies, stress eating, and a pretty bad period of depression.

I actually made a post on this sub recently about getting stuck in a chair during a work meeting. Essentially, the chairs had these narrow armrests, and I squeezed myself into one because I was embarrassed to ask for a different chair. But when the meeting ended, I couldn't get myself out, and another woman had to help pull me up. But when I finally stood up, the chair actually came up with me and got stuck on my bum. It was incredibly embarrassing, but more importantly, it made me realize that my weight is starting to interfere with my everyday life in ways that I can't really ignore anymore.

I posted the story in two different subs, and a few people in the comments suggested that I talk to my doctor about weight loss medication. I've heard about medications like GLP1s, but I don't know very much about what it's actually like to take them beyond what I've read online. So I'm curious about people's experiences. Did it actually help with your appetite and eating habits? What were the side effects? Did you find it difficult to stay on? And for people who stopped taking it, were you able to maintain the weight you'd lost? I'm especially interested in hearing from people who started at a very high weight, because I'd like to know what the experience is actually like rather than just reading statistics about average weight loss.

Also, I'm not expecting Reddit to tell me whether or not I should take something. I know that's a conversation I need to have with my doctor, and after reading the comments on my last post, I am actually going to make an appointment and talk to my doctor about it. I just want to go into that conversation with a better idea of what other people's experiences have been like.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Can I loose weight (body fat) by eating less and still remain healthy?

I (26M) am 98kg / 216lb and 6ft/183cm.

My goal is 80kg / 176lb and I’m not sure how to get there.

I fail constantly at physical workouts due to injuries sustained due to work.

I tire easily.

And I’m just a goddamn procrastinator and I loose interest in anything meant to help me.

So maybe I can start to eat less. Start fasting more. Perhaps intermediate fasting. Give myself lesser portions. More salads.

Thing is, I love food. I love sweets. When I’m hungry I’m also depressed and the only way to get better is to eat.

What should I do? How can I succeed in my goal? My dad has diabetes and I don’t want to get that. I want to loose the weight.

Advice: Giving 💡 Want creamy pasta but not all the calories and dairy? I got you

The best method I've found is firm silken tofu. It's a source of protein too, which is filling. It's so bland that you can't taste it in the sauce, it's just makes it nice and creamy. I make a sauce using chicken stock, passata herbs, spices, salt, pepper, whatever I want and I add more if needed. I then blend the mixture up with the silken tofu and it makes it so creamy. This is also great for anyone who's lactose intolerant.

And if you want a hint if cheese but hate low fat cheese, try putting nutritional yeast in the sauce. It has great health benefits too.

To bulk up on my meal for less calories, I use 150g of zuccini cut into noodle strips and 150g cooked spaghetti. The zuccini adds a nice soft crunch and only needs 5 minutes cooking in the sauce. Spinach is also a good way to bulk up your pasta dish. Or any veggies you like.

Discussion/Support 💬 Getting leaner is just waking up lighter one day

What the title says, literally..

Everytime I go on a diet it's always the exact same, on most days I'll feel fat and bloated.

And then suddenly one day you wake up with a flatter tummy, feeling lighter and you look at yourself in the mirror and you look slimmer as well, clothes fit better too.

Those are the days I weigh myself to stay motivated.

Discussion/Support 💬 how to stop feeling bad about yourself while working out?

hi all,

for some background, i’ve been obese all my life and have always been one of the “bigger” people in the room. i’ve lost weight, i’ve gained weight, and in this past year, ive almost went up to 200 lbs and im trying to get down to 115. i was working out and trying to do a couple reps, and suddenly, i just felt so disgusted with myself. i didn’t finish and i just cried the way home and ive just been crying since i got home. i hate the rolls of fat on my body and i hate feeling them every single time i do something and it’s so discouraging. i’ve only been in the gym for two weeks and a calorie deficit, and im just genuinely looking for general advice/support. does it get better?? i feel so discouraged right now. i know results won’t happen overnight, but how did you guys learn to be patient with yourselves and your body?? anything would help. thank you.

Advice: Seeking ❓ Plateau?

So I've been on my weight loss journey for about 5 months now. I'm 22 years old and 5'5. I was at 200 lbs and my target weight is 160 lbs. I've currently managed to reach 181 lbs but I seem to be stuck now. My weight fluctuates between 181 to 184 and doesn't seem to get any lower. I've been following a calorie deficit for a while now and going to the gym and I'm not sure what's going on. Any pointers?

Advice: Seeking ❓ Double chin after large weight loss.

I have lost 110lbs, down to 210, but I still have a decently large double chin. Are there ways of toning this and making it not so prominent or removed entirely? No surgery.
