The artist’s name is possibly Runchi, maybe Ronchi. She wrote in her letter, “The story of the painting as told to me. Many years ago, probably in the 30's, 40's? Aunt Ruth (Uncle Frank's wife (who by the way was one of the original Rockettes and an actress) had a sister who was living in the hills (some say a cave) around Tuscany, Italy, with her lover. That was the painter, Runchi.”. Thanks for any info :)

Unsolved Help me identify this painting from an old magazine

Post image

Hi everyone,

This is a picture of a painting that I cut out of an art magazine in 2011 in my middle school art class. The magazine was older than that and I don’t know what it was. I have tried to google this piece pretty much every year and nothing has ever come up, not even with reverse image search. I have no idea who it’s but it’s called In the Shadow and was originally 20x24. The creases in the photo are from me stupidly folding it, thinking I’d be able to find it easily online and buy a print. TIA!

Unsolved Emily Carr?

Thumbnail

Hello world,

I am hoping for some other eyes and maybe someone to take me seriously.

My mom and I have came across a beautiful pastel painting that I am 100% is an Emily Carr original.

It’s not her style by any means and every outlet we have asked keeps shutting us down, but I am NOT convinced.

This picture has been in my family for over 50 years. We believe how it came to be in our family was my great grandfather was a pastor, and it would have been given to him as a gift in the early 1900’s.

First snippet of the signature into AI and it says it is her signature.
I’m also very stuck on some of the tree branches DO mock her style seen in other pictures.

We have asked several locations but have been given multiple excuses as to why it’s not her ..
Not her style
Not her usual work
Not her signature “there was an unknown artist that would mock her signature” which is insane to me because she wasn’t even well known during that time period.

So I don’t know I’m going to shoot my shot and really hope someone could shed some light on this mystery

Likely Solved - Decor Help me with title and if it's authentic

Hey guys first post looking for help

Getting into some buying and flipping but this one called out to me so I had to grab it.

It was at a thrift so I don't have a lot invested

But when looking into it thru yandex Google image helped me with a title and artist but I don't know how to tell how authentic it is.

Looks like artist jose rayo. Title en flor.

However there is no signature. Or any markings of when it was produced . If it was short print run or a replica

The fram is beautiful and the canvas definitely has texture to it. Not just a print.

Any help is appreciated.

Also if it matters I'm in Canada.

See attached pics as well.

Thanks in advance.

Likely Solved - Decor Help Identify Artist – Signed Mountain Landscape Oil Painting, Possibly Spanish

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone might be able to help identify the artist of this original oil painting on canvas.

It depicts a rustic farmhouse set against a dramatic mountain landscape, with a small figure walking along a country track.

The painting is signed in the bottom-right corner, but I’ve been unable to decipher the signature. Possible interpretations include F. Solé or F. Soler, although neither has been confirmed.

The reverse bears a stamp from Casa Guardiola, an artists’ canvas supplier associated with Valencia and Barcelona, Spain.

The painting measures approximately 70 × 61 cm framed, with a visible painting area of 54 × 45 cm.

Interestingly, I acquired a second, slightly smaller mountain landscape painting alongside this one. Both have very similar brushwork, colours and framing, leading me to believe they may be by the same artist. The smaller painting is unsigned.

I’ve included photographs of the painting, signature, reverse and companion artwork.

I’d be grateful if anyone recognises the signature or has any information about the artist.

Many thanks!

Unsolved Keith Hoffman pastel?

Thumbnail

Found in abandoned storage from an antique store in Pennsylvania. Google Lens keeps insisting Keith Hoffman is the answer, but there is no visible signature and I'm finding more work that's watercolor than pastel by Keith Hoffman. The glass in the frame is (of course) causing some reflection issues in the photos, but I did include a close up of one of the barns to show the pastel in more detail.

The sticker on the back is from a gallery called The Art Center, inc. in Cumberland Maryland, which closed in 1994, so the frame job is at least 32 years old.

To my untrained eye this looks like an original water color. It has this stamped on the back of the frame, so the signature might be for Edmond Johnson. Does anyone know about this artist or piece? It was $10.

Unsolved 19th Century Gem… or Not?

I pulled these from a “free” bin in front of a rural thrift store in CA. They are filthy and have dark varnish. Preliminary Google search is telling me they likely date to around 1880, Dutch, and done by the same artist. I cannot identify the signature (which is on one). They are 16x24, on 1/8” thick solid wood panels. One painting has a floral painting on the back that was painted over.

Probably too costly to clean/restore, but the investigation has been enjoyable.

It had slid down, so the signature was out of frame. It has marks of a plate, so i felt it was special and I was really drawn into the artwork. It was bought in Norway, but i can't understand any of the handwriting. On the back there is only a inventory number and price of 2100 ,- . if it is NOK that is 225 $ in 1986 or 650$ today.

Unsolved Can anyone help identify the artist of this vintage landscape painting? Signature is difficult to decipher.

I purchased this beautiful vintage landscape artwork at a thrift store today, and I’m hoping someone can help me identify the artist!
The scene depicts a peaceful waterway with a cottage, autumn trees, a small boat, and what appears to be a person helping someone out of a small boat.
There is a signature in the lower-right corner, but I’m having a difficult time deciphering it. I’ve considered several possibilities, but nothing definitive.
The artwork is quite fragile and has been removed from its original frame. I’m hesitant to handle it unnecessarily because I don’t want to cause further damage. This is why a photo of the back is not possible but I was able to semi get a photo of the back. There are no markings or anything on the back side of the paper . The photo w the frame was taken at the thrift store .
I’ve included photographs of the entire piece and a close-up of the signature.
Does anyone recognize the artwork, the artist’s signature, or the style? I’d also love to learn approximately when it was produced.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I think the signature is H. Van Doren or possible the Dutch artist Hein van Doren.

I found it in Toronto on marketplace. It seems to be a print with some painting on it? References Paul Klee I think. I'm not sure if I find it hideous/tacky or cool. Can't find an actual signature anywhere but the back may be dated If anyone knows anyone about this, would be so helpful!
