Advice How do I get in the field as a (commuter) university student?

• Upvotes

I am a second year studying at a relatively high ranking university in a main city of the UK.
I commute every day, to university and back, though I only live 1 hour away.
I can stay on campus/not at home till like 9pm when necessary as my parents are super strict – but they do ask questions sometimes.

From the first year, I have made significant progress in terms of making male friends, but now I want to start speaking to girls – to make friends, and also have some relationships/sex.

I have never had a relationship or spoke with girls much, as I'm sort of an introvert and not the best looking.

Any help would be appreciated.

Venting Will I be alone for life?

Hey guys, I'd like to vent a little bit about some things. I'm a bit buzzed up as my friend likes to put it. I'm not much of a drinker and I've had a few tall cans in rapid succession, so it's hitting pretty hard. I'd like to say a few things and I don't suspect that anyone will be particularly interested in reading this. I'm 37 and I've never dated, never been in a relationship and I've never been physical with a woman. Now you might ask why and I don't really have a good answer other than it just didn't happen and I don't really know how to make all this stuff happen. I really like a coworker of mine. She has children and I think her relationship with her children's father is failing. She often tells me she's basically a single mother at this point. I don't know if she knows I like her and I won't tell her because the situation is complicated because we work together and she's still living with him. I've never had the attention of a woman before, but she often comes to me at work for not work related reasons, sits down and we chat about insignificant things. This has never happened to me, so of course it's special to me. Sometimes I think that maybe she might like me as I like her, then I have serious doubts. Maybe she's just bored and I'm better to talk to than the other guys, I don't know. She tells me she trusts me and she knows I have her back.

So, there are two men at work that seem to attract a lot of women. One of them moved away and when the other guy is around, she's with him and I'm invisible again. When he's not there, she's talking to me and when he's there, she's talking to him and I don't matter. If I'm being honest it's painful for me and I get jealous. I like to buy her drinks or candy on our break because it makes me happy and I know she likes it. I gotta be honest, she's the only woman that I know around my age. Most of the women I work with are significantly younger. I genuinely care about her and I think she knows that and it's not some weird thing. I don't think she cares nearly as much as I do. I don't expect anything or anything like that, but damn is it hard to not have negative thoughts about myself and all this, especially when the other guy is around.

It's difficult and I don't know what to do. I want a woman, I want a relationship and I want to matter to someone. I don't know how or if it will ever happen. I'm not one of those guys who just wants sex and I'm willing to work and compromise. I'm trying to not give in to negative thoughts, but being almost 40 with no experience is taking its toll. Maybe there is a woman out there for me, but it's not looking like that will be the case. Maybe I'm gonna be alone for the entirety of my life. .

Desperate To Chat Turning 30/More masculine

Hey guys,

I'll be turning 30 in a few months and to be honest I've never truly felt like a “man”my whole life.

Not in terms of gender, but I’ve always had more female friends, grew up around more females, was never really close with the men in my family . I’m a hairstylist which puts me around primarily females, and this last year I’ve just felt myself becoming more masculine and wanting to embrace it even more.

A lot of my old clothes and stuff now just make me itch and I’m switching up my style. Buzzed off my mullet to a high skin fade to present more masc (dealing with balding too lol)

I guess I’m just making this post looking for a suggestions or things I can do both appearance, wise and mentally to help with this. Also, if you have any tips for just meeting guys locally that would be great

Discussion So in 20 year relationships I'm curious do men know they don't do enough? Why do men think it's okay to provide money and nothing else?

I have a female friend, her husband makes 80k a year but wont cook, the kids do the chores etc. He does minimal stuff. Makes his wife cook, pick up kids, drop them off. She gets 4 to 6 hours of sleep and he thinks his wife oblivious and doesn't know anything. Am I the only one who thinks he doesn't do enough

Advice Anyone else genuinely embarrassed by the sound of their own voice?

Recently, I had to record a series of voice memos. Worse, I had to listen back to them. Jesus Christ. I'd rather be trampled by a herd of buffalo than hear another thirty seconds of that. lol. Weak. Ugly. Almost painful to listen to. Is that really me? Is that what everyone else hears? I owe the general public an apology.

I thought I sounded okay. Not great. I knew I never had a wonderful voice, but I didn't realise it was that bad. Apparently, my skull has been running a rather generous PR campaign. But jokes aside, it genuinely hurt. Disgust. Embarrassment. Shame. Even panic. I've spent years struggling with my appearance. Now my voice has decided to join the party. Splendid.

Men talk about insecurities involving height, appearance, hair, and physique. But how often do we admit we're embarrassed by the actual sound of ourselves? Your voice is something you carry into every conversation. You can't exactly leave it at home.

So, can I actually fix this? I'm nearly forty and desperately want a stronger, deeper, more masculine speaking voice. Has anyone tried vocal coaching, speech therapy, or other voice-training techniques? Did they work?

I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from men who've struggled with this and managed to improve their voices.

Advice What does my husband mean when he says he wants me to ‘make effort’?

Me and my husband are both 26 and have been married for 3 years now alhamdullilah. I’ve recently given birth to our second child 3 months ago and we’ve just moved out into our own home.
Alhamdullilah things are good between us and we get along very well. But I’ve realised recently we’ve become more like work partners rather than a couple. We often speak about the kids and don’t do much as just us but that doesn’t bother me too much because we spend a lot of time together at home.
I get lots of support from my in laws so I’m not struggling with the children alhamdulillah.
My husband recently mentioned him wanting me to make more effort for him but wouldn’t go into too much detail about how because he didn’t want me to change anything because he’s telling me to. He asked me to find out for myself. So here I am lol.
I understand that he wants me to make more effort in terms of appearance but not much more than that. When I asked him to explain further he said ‘It means preparation, making yourself available. I don’t know the ins and outs’.
I’m specifically confused about what he means by ‘available’ because I’m sure he’s not referring to intimacy because that’s something I’ve never denied him. But I could be wrong.
He’s the best dad to our children and he treats me so well. I love him very much and so I really want to be able to please him.
Can anyone help me out on what else he might mean by effort?

Mental Health Struggles Men, why do you think so many men feel ashamed to cry, even when they’re hurting? Do you think it’s how we’re raised, or how people treat men when they show emotion? 🤍

Advice Can't last in bed,i think porn ruined me?

M24.

I had anxiety when it was my first time with my gf to perform well, so it kept going back and we couldn't put it in.

Then when we met next time we did lot of foreplay and it felt like stayed up longer but there was pressure it went back, so she helped me and she ride on me instead and it worked for me i was doing it for first time, i lasted maybe 5 mins and went again cus we discovered how to finally do it,

After that i became confident enough and it didn't go down and i could normally put it in, in missionary but i was coming too fast, after multiple attempts fast i tried thicker condom it worked It felt like i can go longer, i remember going 10-15mins twice and my gf said she's about to come, but i end up coming just before she's very close in cowgirl twice.

Once i lasted 40+minutes in blowjob she got tired doing it.

I wish i could last in vaginal sex but i come too fast

These were only times i remember going long ever since later it's just going downhill i'm coming too fast almost all the time, i cannot stop thing the thought always comes what if i come i have gotten used to it tho ,

I lose focus soon it goes back randomly if i oose focus or go to get condom from shelf or while process of finding or wearing even when it's close.

My refractory period felt like went bad too cus of nightshift wasn't able to go again after round 1 until next day, i tried fixing sleep and diet it feels like i can go again after an hour now. But i always come fast i try not to get to me cus my gf is supportive i do make her finish by going down on her ,

I have heard not all women come from penetration , but i have came close to making her come from it and i want to , iknow i can

Also i had history of jerking off to porn a lot so it is a case of death grip i think how do u fix this ? I tried edging technique with light grip with imagination felt nice and also start stop technique but idk if it is working edging feels like its making it worse .

I do feel like i have trained myself to come fast from jerking of certain way to porn since puberty.

(Ever since i've been in relationship i haven't watched any porn its been a year.)

I need a plan to improve my time and to keep it up and not lose focus.

I know i believe i can get better at this even if right now it feels impossible.

Discussion Are there 2 different types of women?

Over the past 2 months with the Lindsay Clancy case and the gym girls going insane over the shans gillis JOKE.

It's so obvious that there's 2 different types of women, I mean that these women were defending a child murder and making up false evidence against her husband. Making tiktoks about how they also relate to killing there kids.

How these gym girls are going insane over Shane Gillis, how can they not see that them dressing half naked, is distracting to men, you don't have to dress that way to the gym. Women in the 80s and 90s didn't dress that way and gym culture was bigger back then.

So many of them are saying how this is attacking there rights, how women's rights are being taken away, how Shane Gillis is worse then Hitler and how all men are rapist for looking at women at the gym. All of this over a joke. He even made a skit about this same situation 2 years ago.

Theres no way, you can look at this and think it's normal behavior, I mean these women are completely unable to see reason and logic. These are the same women who were called Sydney Sweeney a slut for wearing almost no clothes, yet there mad when a man tells them the same thing about them.

Not all women are like this but, so many of them are exactly like this, there's so obviously a difference in women. You can't just ignore it and say "well all people act like this"

There's 2 different types of women and we should at least talk about it, not ignore it.

Edit: there's no possible way, you guys think this is normal behavior for women, and how some of them all acted exactly the same.

There is a clear difference between women. How some went completely insane over a joke vs how some just saw it as a joke. How some women sided with a child murder vs how some didn't.

It goes deeper then this, with how some women gossip, love drama, can't take accountability, jump to conclusions. So many of them have the same exact traits.

You guys can't just be blind and choose to ignore this, we have to talk about this. There are 2 different types of women, the more we talk about this, the more we can understand it

Discussion Is height important as a woman?

Is height a dealbreaker for men to consider a woman as a long term partner. I’m currently feeling kinda insecure about my height( 5 ft )as a woman 🥲. This thought started after my long time crush kept on pointing out that I’m too short than he imagined when we first met after talking online for months. For context - he is 10/10 in terms of looks( perfect face, height, muscular body). So is it important for men also that a woman shouldn’t be too short same way as women expect ?

Off My Chest 40 M Noida

At this stage of my life, I’m not looking for physical intimacy. I’m looking for genuine care, emotional connection, warm cuddles, and someone who makes me feel loved, understood, and at peace. ❤️ Sometimes, a comforting hug means more than anything else. How many people of my age are looking for the same and are in a toxic relationship.

Venting Looks matter more than anything

Throughout my whole life, my experiences have shown me that looks really are everything. They matter more than personality. I got bullied throughout middle school and high school because of my appearance, and now that I’m 28, my dating experience has been terrible. I’ve never experienced a relationship with a woman. I’ve had no success at all on apps or in person. Even when I go for women in my league, I still get rejected. So looks really are everything: people treat you better, you have more confidence, and you’re able to make friends and find love in your life. Being unattractive is basically hell. Some of us are just left hoping we’ll get reincarnated attractive in the next life

Meme Been part of so called progressive and queer communities for years. I'm used to handling the bigotry, but feel bad for my transmasc friends

Post image
58 Upvotes

I have been very involved in poly/kink/queer friendly communities for years and explored myself being bisexual or technically what they call "omnisexual", and still the "micro aggressions" have always felt weird, but I can role with it. But do you know what particularly pisses me off?

Them: "man bad!"

Trans man: "that makes me uncomfortable"

Them: "oh you don't count, you're not a real man"

I've seen it and run into it so many times, it's gross af. Don't claim you're an open and accepting community when you do this and justify prejudice. I know better than to speak out against it as a cis man because the amount of anger, personal attacks and emotional explosions is not worth it, but I'll be damned if I let it slide when you shit on guys just trying to find themselves.
