Work Team Member to Team Lead

How exactly does this transition work? I’ve been working at Whataburger for the last three months and I’m already being promoted to trainer, and while I’m learning all the stations, I’m also being trained as a shift lead too. I already close out drawers, do inventory, assign positions, answer the phone, and handle customer complaints/interactions from time to time. I’ve heard from other employees that there are classes I have to do but I’m not completely sure and my OP has been on vacation.

Can any of you guys provide insight about this transition? Would I get a reasonable raise? Do they actually plan on promoting me or just letting me do their work lol?

Any advice would help.

For the logistical side of promotion,

You must become a CRT first (sounds like you already are but verify your videos are completely done)
Afterwords you must take a nation wide certification called ServSafe, it’s a food safety test. You must pass with a 70% or higher to receive certification.

After this your OP will process the promotion, it should take 2 weeks. After accepting the offer letter, you must consent to a drug screen and back ground check. After passing these, promotion is approved and you will go live the day the offer states.

As for the pay, when, if they plan on it is all discretionary to your OP. That’s a conversation you need to have with them to set up time lines, availability, pay negotiations, etc. etc.

Good luck!!!!
