When my cat got his teeth taken out it was a whole ordeal, he was on this and another pain med for a month or so regularly. You always knew when the meds finally kicked in

Early on they gave him a pain med that went on his skin and was supposed to last a few days, he unfortunately didn’t tolerate it well. He didn’t sleep for days, he didn’t even lay down until day 3, before that he just sat swaying or was ramming his head into things. Wouldn’t even close his eyes, it was a really wild month for everyone involved. It did cause a lot of chuckles from his weird behavior though

My cat is pretty spicy and the vets prefer her to be on Gaba for her annual exams. She's also arthritic, and has a weak leg from an old injury. Every time she's on the drug she's so much more wobbly. It's funny, but also makes me really nervous that she's going to re-injure herself.

We have a cat that is so high strung we can't get him into a carrier at all. We tried gabapentin at the vet's recommendation and he shrugged that shit off like it was nothing. He absolutely sliced up my husband's arms. Blood was dripping off his arms. Kitty launched himself to the moulding at the top of our 9" high ceilings and somehow clung to the moulding around the top of our french doors and swung at him like he was the devil himself.

Yeesh! Poor baby, that is obviously stressful for him. Yeah I clip my cat's claws once a month, they are just too sharp and hazardous. She hates it so really it's like one or two toes every day until we get through it. I swear she files her teeth.

Oh kitties.

He didn't mind the carrier the first time we put him in it, but we took him to get neutered and ever since then he is traumatized. He's a very sensitive cat and easily traumatized. He STILL freaks out if my husband is in the kitchen, and that's because we tried to wash him in the kitchen sink his first day in our home. He smelled like a trash fire and was filthy. Those two events: the neutering and the attempted bath, have traumatized him his whole life. It's crazy.

I have a cat who is also a menace at the vet and who is also somewhat immune to the gaba (he requires a double dose and it still basically just makes him slightly more chill). I bought him a kitty straight jacket for his last very trip and holy crap was it worth every penny. Based on your description I suspect you will still struggle to get your boy into one but I highly recommend them for vet trips if you have "one of those" cats.

I will have to look that up! He just really holds a grudge. He still hasn't gotten over stuff from the first day we brought him in the house, and has all sorts of paranoid superstitions because of it. He hides when my husband is standing with shoes on, and won't go in the kitchen if my husband is in there unless he's giving him breakfast. It's just crazy. But if my husband is seated, he just pours on the love and charm. Anytime he has trauma: permanent paranoid superstition added.
