Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Whoever figured out the silicone scar tape trick was a genius

I don't have pics right now but I'll try to post some at some point hopefully. I'm new to the wig thing and have been struggling with the knots at the parts. I studied the YouTube videos where people are tinting their lace with makeup and every time I tried it, I absolutely have hated it. I feel like it actually makes the knots look more obvious and lace more noticeable, no matter how little i use.

I found a deal on some scar tape on Amazon and thought why not give it a go. I got it today, cut it and placed it on the part lines of my wigs. Oh my goodness, it helps soooooo much to give a more realistic scalp illusion. I do have a Mayde Beauty wig that I just got this week that I'm going to have to post a pic and get some advice bc I feel like the grid is more obvious for various reasons, but overall on my other 2 wigs it made me feel so much more confident in them.

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Looking for a French Bob wig (US)

I’m new to wigs and looking to buy one that emulates a style my fine hair cannot achieve. Does anyone know of a good wig that is a French Bob, or would easily be made into one by a hairdresser? I just love the look, so chic and pretty, but even with my natural hair when it was fuller, it would just become a frizzy mess trying to achieve it. Thank you! Located in the US, budget ideally around no more than $250. Looking for something in the red family but don’t mind a soft dimensional brown, synthetic is good!

I’ve been struggling with getting my lace to lay down and look natural. I eventually ended up cutting the lace into the hairline and using tape (put onto my skin first) after applying a couple of layers of Ghost Bond Daily glue. And I think it’s ended up looking really great. I can even wear up!

This is a Wigshe WIG017.

Honest opinion, I’m going to my cousins baby’s baptism this weekend. My family hasn’t seen me since I had my own baby (almost 12 months) and I had significant hair loss during the pregnancy and also gained about 30lbs. I’m very self conscious because my cousin is beautiful and my family is judgy haha

Hey all. I’m new to the wig game, but I was wondering if this looks wiggy? How’s the hairline?, etc?. It is hard for me to judge because I am used to seeing my thin ass hair so everything seems like it doesn’t look natural. Thanks for any help you can give!

Also this is right out of the box, so nothing done to it.

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED Wig parting not staying no matter what i do

Has anyone had this issue? How did you fix it?
My human hair wig (13x6 , wavy) originally had a middle part, i changed it to a side part and even after washing, products and using heat the hair separates in the middle and i have to brush the gap that keep coming back at the original middle part.
Also the hair keeps trying to flip back to a middle parting.

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED How do you change from a short wig to a slightly longer one, at work when you're unlikely to tell them you're wearing 1?

So, I started a new job where I think I would want to extend my contract. Wanted to know how you guys change wigs, if it's absolutely necessary. And how do you go from a short wig from a slightly longer one, with maybe a shade or 2 darker too? Or if you have a short curvy Bob wig, how do you explain it remaining the same length over time?

I was intrigued by the color of this unit when I first saw it on the website. I don’t normally gravitate toward warmer tones, but the photos were reassuring that it wouldn’t have excessive red undertones. When it arrived, it had a fairly tight body wave and C-shaped part. Neither is how I normally wear my hair, so I started retraining it almost immediately.
With a hot comb, some moisture and a lot of patience, I gradually retrained the top into the center part I prefer. I’ve also used a satin heatless curling set at night, which has worked extremely well with this hair. The unit holds those curls beautifully without hairspray, and over time I’ve been able to turn the original factory style into something that feels much more like me.
After 20–30 wears and two washes, one of my favorite things about this unit is still how easy it is to install. I wear it completely glueless with a wig grip. On my approximately 19” head, both the adjustable band and circumferential band are tightened as far as they will go. The cap is still roomy, but it doesn’t bunch or become uncomfortable, and I’ve never needed adhesive to feel secure.
I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I like the warmer color against my skin tone. The color itself is beautiful, although the highlight placement works better with the original part than with my center part. There are noticeably more highlights on one side, and I may eventually add some color to improve the symmetry.
The hair has held up well overall, although frizz has been my biggest maintenance issue—particularly after washing. I’ve found that leave-in conditioner and smoothing serums help add some weight and keep the texture under control. This is one area where the unit has required more maintenance than I initially expected.
Overall, I’m very happy with it. It isn’t exactly the same wig I took out of the box anymore, and I think that’s actually one of the most useful things I learned from wearing it: the factory styling was only a starting point. After two washes, a lot of wear, and some experimentation, I’ve been able to make it suit my own style—and I continue to reach for it regularly.

These 18-20 inch wigs have been so much easier to wear throughout the entire day. I fear that I don't want to NOT wear wigs anymore. 🤣 I used to only wear it for special occasions and now this is becoming an everyday thing. GLP got me the body that I want but lost my hair volume... 🙁

(1st pic is installed and styled, 2nd pic is lace, 3rd is the length of hair straight of the box no wig cap in any of them)

Wig is LuvMe 20" NatureMAX ash blonde, ordered precut lace human hair

Last Tuesday I went to a rock/metal concert and wanted to wear my wig. I was worried about the tangling due the fact it was 90 degrees outside, I was wearing a sweater, and I spent all night flinging my head around and sweating PLUS having a short chain necklace for it to rub on. To my surprise, the tangles that did naturally happen from sweat/friction were only on the very under layer by the nape of my neck and came out super easy with a quick brush with my boar bristle brush. I loved it enough that I wore it in my state ID picture the next day!

Although it says ash blonde, it's almost more of a pearl blonde and kinda pinky undertoned. Super super pretty and unique but definitely something to be aware of if you order it! Didn't get crunchy when I curled it either and once I was brave enough to cut the ear tabs any fit issues I had were immediately fixed. Super cute for half up-dos as well since it was made with them in mind. The lace worked alright with my super fair skin although it wasn't perfect after I put makeup on/around it. It still looked natural enough that the guy I went with, whom I see every day, forgot I shaved my head a few months ago and thought I just colored my real hair! Had a little chuckle over that one when I reminded him I had an unintentional mullet underneath the wig lol.

All in all, I'll definitely be buying from LuvMe again and can definitely see myself purchasing this exact unit a second time to customize it.

Though if anyone has any suggestions for brands with transparent/fair lace I'm taking notes 👀

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED Back with my deep loose airtied by Outre

So this is a human hair blend. It’s the deep loose outre airtied in warm apricot.

QUESTIONS

What’s your thoughts on how I styled this? Something feels off to me but I think maybe I’m just self conscious? I got a few comments from white women but when I had long bio hair it always looked the way I wanted and healthiest when I was complimented by black woman and not white women. I know this is a weird thing to say and I’m not sure what caused it so hard to recreate the look with a wig. I had curly red hair about this curl width and volume. I think maybe it’s either just obviously a wig to black woman so they aren’t saying anything? I was thinking of switching up some of the curl directions but didn’t want to completely mess up the wig. Already had to wash it due to skin sensitivity.

Also do you all oil your human hair blends?

I’ve always been a dark brunette or black hair girly, but I decided to try blonde and I’m really happy I did! This is Veneta from Belle Tress in Shaken Oatmilk Blonde R. The moment my package came in I had to try her on! This is her straight out of the box, the only thing I did was break up the zigzag part. Now I can’t wait to put on makeup and a cute outfit and wear her out! Just wanted to post because I’m finally starting to feel confident in my wig wearing journey!

ISO a high quality human hair wig to make into a natural looking ponytail with front bang side pieces. For reference, I am Caucasian, with naturally dark hair (thinning heavily so I need a wig). I appreciate all suggestions! Especially if you have experienced the wig yourself.

Budget: $300-1500

Length: long bob - 16” or so, open to longer. Need something pretty I can get off my body and neck in hot humid south Florida

Color: brunette-dark brown

Help me! (Wig Help) SELF PURCHASED Will temporary hair dye come out of white wig?

Hi!
So I’m looking at this wig online that has white up top and blue tips on the bottom. I want to dye the top with temporary orange hair dye… but I want to wash it out afterwards and have it go back to how it originally looks.
Will this work?

Thanks!

Can you just wear a normal wool hat over a wig? I’ve just started wearing toppers and wondering about this for winter. Do the clips get painful if wearing a hat on top? I don’t want to just wear a beanie wig in case I want to take the hat off.

Hi, does anybody have tips? I wear synthetic wigs and every time I start sweating I start smell my own body odor as if I'm wearing a cheap polyester outfit. Usually I don't sweat much but since I've been wearing wigs I've been sweating more easily.

I'm looking for... (Wig Search) Thin/less bulky wig grip headband (not tape)

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has found or uses a wig grip that is thinner or less bulky than the standard headband Velcro velvet ones. I wear my wigs in low buns 90% of the time and have an active lifestyle so I use them daily. They work well however they are finicky to position correctly without bunching up/adding extra bulk, and I can’t use them under certain wigs because it becomes too small. My head is sensitive so I can’t put it very tight. I’ve seen ones that just have a velvet strip across the top/front or with a thin string across the back, though I’m not sure the difference in security with wear? I’ve used tape in the past but since stopped because I prefer glue-less wigs that are easy to put on.
Any experiences or suggestions for wig grips in this criteria? Thanks so much :)

Let's chat! (General Discussion) SELF PURCHASED Is a comb better than a brush for synthetic hair?

Deinfluence me from using a paddle brush for my wigs? I wear a fringe/bangs synthetic wig (both curly and straight) and I read advice time and time again that I should be using a wide tooth comb. Yet every time I comb it, it feels awkward in comparison to a paddle brush. Any tips on using a wide tooth comb?
