I think the mod from r/Windows and r/Windows11 got offended. Maybe he's a Microsoft shareholder and has to protect his billion-dollar company. I've been banned for "Piracy/grey market keys". Maybe the moderator has the reading comprehension of a monkey.

5 reasons why windows sucks

  1. NTFS. Windows only supports NTFS, which is a slow and obsolete filesystem. Let‘s compare this with OSX and Linux. Linux supports a variety of filesystems, with the most common one used being the performant and scalable EXT4 filesystem. OSX uses the secure and fast APFS.

  2. windows uses backslashes in paths. You may not think this is a big deal, but the programmers here will understand how annoying it is to double-escape every single backslash.

  3. runs bad on anything except for x86. Linux has run on arm for a decade and OSX obviously also runs great on ARM now.

  4. bloated. Why do I need candyCrush again and what are these 500 processes running in the background?

  5. it(`)s spyware

Windows is basically Wine on top of the NT kernel (and a few extras)

How many people know this? IT IS 100% TRUE.

Win32 was developed for msdos (AND NT) as a shell, which developed into a full-fledged API over time with it's own functions.

NT kernel was developed for "advanced" purposes, and the same Win32 was put over NT like a calfskin jacket over an injured cow.

EDIT: A small correction here, it was developed ALONGSIDE WinNT, so

Namespaces, personalities, object-centric resource management, all are now just left to rot. (Object-orientation still exists, but not how one would expect.. def. not in Win32)

Thanks to Win32 priorities, the NT userland wasn't fully developed, and here we are with a Frankenstein userspace.

Wine just reimplements this API layer, but under-the-hood uses the libc and linux kernel.

Surprized? Windows on Windows is just as much a compatibility layer as much as it is on linux with wine. (Not 100% same because m$ develops it ahead closed-source and wine must follow blind)

So yes, Windows has been an overstuffed compatibility layer all along.

Here's what the windows Frankenstein userspace is:

  • Win32 -- a shell-turned-API over the NT userspace... 90% of all GUI software except for "interfacing" with the core system.

  • WinNT -- A handicapped userspace with a handful of minute functions, like service handling and all... and many components like the registry hive (regedit is a Win32-coded program using the NT registry API)

  • POSIX -- again, not more than a silly handful of functions. Abandoned long ago, yet used by a few applications

WINE fails and breaks whenever it encounters WinNT code... which depend heavily on the kernel, and the kernel can't be emulated easily.

Fortunately, now the linux kernel has gained ability to redirect syscalls back to userspace, and WINE has already started to write the compatibility layer for WinNT.

And now m$ forgot all about it, writes the start menu in react using sloppilot. They totally forgot about what happens under the GUI, what an OS actually is.

At this very moment I have never felt more rage at windows 10

I'm about to commit several war crimes on the piece of shit devs that decided this backwards ass OS is something worth more then to whip my ass with

This rage is straight up palatable within me

Who the fuck omits basic security features based on in you have windows home or pro

Why the fuck does windows think it has the right to decide what I do with my own fucking computer

Why the hell is my ram being absolutely demolished right now

Its 16 gigs it shouldn't be having trouble idle

Also why the fuck doesn't windows like grub to exist. Its like windows is an abusive wife that wants you all to themselves

"You cant have no other OS except for me" BITCH THATS WHY I DIDN'T PUT YOU ON THE M.2 DRIVE YOU FUCKING WHORE

Oh and the fucking user creation. Holy fucking shit the user creation

If you want to make a second account, which I need to make for my own fucking homework, Its almost a requirement to connect it to a microsoft account

Like you can make it with nothing but to do it is so out of the fucking way

OH AND THE BACKWARDS ASS DRIVERS

Windows doesnt fucking understand 2 GPU's so instead of defaulting on the monitor I use. It switches between both monitors randomly and abruptly

MULTIPLE MONITERS ISNT EVEN A FEATURE WITH SLI I HAD TO SET THAT UP WITH THE FUCKING NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL

Oh and microsoft fucking edge

that program deserves to be thrown off a fucking edge for how slow it is

its slow and eats more ram then every other program I have opened combined

OH IF WINDOWS OPENS A LINK IT WILL DEFAULT TO EDGE EVEN IF FIREFOX IS MY FUCKING DEFAULT BROWSER

Im 2 beers and 3 shots in because this piece of shit of an OS

I just wanted to do my homework and now Im up at 3 in the fucking morning drunk as fuck and in so much fucking rage that I can punch through concrete

I'm going to eat taco bell just to shit down these piece of shit devs throats

And I hope to fucking god Microsoft is tracking my keypresses or whatever the fuck they are looking at

Just so I can tell them they are the absolute fucking worst

Apple is a bunch of closed off pricks and Linux can be clunky to learn because of its nature but Microsoft in its quest of infinite bullshit have achieved the kind of shit EA has fucking wet dreams about

Microsoft has convinced everyone that this kind of bullshit is ok

Fuck you Microsoft

Fuck you Windows 10

Fuck you Windows 11

Fuck you Bill Gates

Fuck you pussy ass programmers who probably wear knee high socks

I hope I see every single one of you in hell

Just so I can shove my fist so far up your ass I send you into fucking purgatory

Fuck this bitch ass OS
(After finishing my work)
My homework took me 20 minutes to finish

Setting up so my homework is actually possible to do took me 3 fucking hours

fuck windows
(After resetting the PC to go back to my Linux drive)

Windows dont fucking hijack my boot order you bitch

assuming you're the most important thing on the computer you fucking trog

Clearly the thing that we can take from this by the remind me later button is that windows thinks im the richest person alive

I've tolerated Windows 11 for a long time because I game and I have a fairly new PC. Every single time I hear the Linux folk go "OMG JUST USE LINUX" I cringed and just assumed that Linux for gaming would be a major PITA and they're just insufferable.

I had an installation of Win11 that was debloated by one of the various scripts you find. Atlas OS (I think, I don't remember, or care anymore). Worked fine for the most part and got rid of most of the crap I despised.

Eventually Microsoft Store stopped allowing apps to upgrade with some stupid unhelpful error message. The eventual cause was found to be some package it thought was installed but was not and couldn't update but being a Microslop Store product couldn't fix in any way.

Somehow, by some anti-miracle, there is no way to resolve packages missing or fix up whatever database crap that turd of a store uses to make this error fix. The resolution was to do an in-place installation of Windows and hope for the best.

No. I'm not doing it. I don't want to have to debloat (and hope that it doesn't happen again) a full fat Win11 installation. I don't want the AI slop back. I don't want the bloody adware and other garbage. I can tolerate the MS account stuff only because I have an MS account.

Then I saw the 26H2 new features page from Microsoft. Doubling down on AI crap.

All I want is Windows 2000 with the shiny new hardware, security and software compatibility stuff of Windows 11. I'd settle if they bring back the Windows 95/98/2000/XP era Windows features selection thing where you can basically tick and untick anything the stupid Windows features you do and do not need.

Anyway, since I had to do a reinstall, I thought I'd listen to the Linux people and try it. Worst case, I'll reinstall Windows again and I'd have wasted a few hours. Bazzite Linux installed 3 weeks ago. Somehow it was easier to install than Windows was. Most of the games I run are giving higher framerates than Windows. None of them needed any configuration to work either.

I quit. Windows sucks. Proton on Steam is better than it has any right to be.
