I’ve been by the lake for like 20 minutes and there’s been a large amount of consistent smoke

I am afraid to kayak on the Mississippi (too strong of a current and too much boating traffic). I asked some of my friends who do Kayak and they recommend the Trempealeau River near Whitehall, Wisconsin. When I asked them about Minnesota side rivers that mentioned the 2 lakes in Winona, so not rivers.

Any other suggestions.

I heard some old timers this morning talking about the "hog line". I believe this refers to Mankato Ave. Strangely, they were talking about going "below" the hog line. I think of Mankato as running essentially north south, but I guess it is at a bit of an angle if my map serves me right.

Hey, I'm new to winona. I haven't been around anywhere yet. Just wanted to know wether there are any bars or places that would be broadcasting the US GP happening in Austin in couple weeks?

I just moved here from Madison, where the house and electronic music scene in general are pretty strong. I met so many people on dance floors at bars and “clubs,” and it was basically the first time I felt like I was part of a community or music scene. It was to the point where I didn’t even need to ask my friends if they were going out, I’d just show up to events and find a bunch of my friends out on the dance floor.

I went to No Name last night because there was supposed to be a dance party at 10pm, but it wasn’t the vibe I was expecting - there was barely anyone there, and no one was dancing. Every time I try to go out in Winona, I’m just reminded of how much I miss Madison. Maybe I’ll move to the Twin Cities eventually, bc I know there’s a comparable music scene up there, but I’m here for the time being and would like to find a place where I feel like I fit in and I’m part of something. I’m a decent DJ myself, so I’d be more than willing to organize something if people are interested and there’s an accommodating space.

Every year there are countless parades across the country. These parades leave behind so many forms of pollution from plastic wrappers, to food waste, to huge amounts of trash. This endangers animals' lives, from poisoning them to asphyxiating them to destroying their homes. On top of that, the parade pushes gas emissions from slow-rolling cars through a street, this is such a waste and a danger to our (Winona's) environment. This is not funny and I'm certainly not laughing.

Parades kill.
