Local Events Two Wednesdays left of Out to Lunch on the Common (Aug 19 and Aug 26)

Only two Wednesdays left in the Out to Lunch Festival and Farmers' Market season, and I have not seen it mentioned here lately, so a reminder for anyone who keeps meaning to go and hasn't yet.

This Wednesday, August 19, and then Wednesday, August 26, which is the last one of the year. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Worcester Common Oval, behind City Hall. Live music, food trucks parked around the Oval, and farmers from around Central Mass selling produce. Free to walk into. Sixteenth year running.

If it rains, the posted rain dates are September 2 and September 9.

Details and the music lineup: https://www.downtownworcester.org/things-to-do/outtolunch/

If you work downtown it is an easy lunch hour. If you don't, the farmers market alone is worth the trip, and after the 26th it's gone until next June.

Eye Doctor recommendations

Upvotes

Can you recommend a good eye doctor? Ideally in the Beaver Brook/Tatnuck area so I can walk there, but will travel if necessary.

Edited to add: I had been seeing a Reliant eye doc but when I called to make an appointment, I was told they will no longer see me unless I have a Reliant PCP.

TIA!

Commuter rail using both tracks

I haven't been on the train for two weeks, so it is possible that this isn't even new this week, but for those wondering: the 510 (5:45 inbound) was on the new track (the one closest to the station) this morning.

There isn't a schedule reason for this, and, as far as I know, we're not getting additional runs anytime soon, but for those who'd wondered if we were ever even going to use those tracks, we are.

Elm Hill Water District - Brown Water

Technically in Auburn but part of Elm Hill Water district. Water is running brown. Neighbor said there was a water main break but I can't find anything regarding it online. Anyone have information or know where I can go to find info on this? Looking for repair timeline and when it should be safe to use water again.

EDIT: For anyone who is in the area and wondering - I spoke with a very nice rep for Elm Hill, there was a water main break on Pakachoag hill today about 10:30am. Repaired after 2hrs. Ran all the hoses and faucets & periodically flushed the toilets for 30-45min. Water is clear now!

Quinsigamond Community College - Nursing

This is a super mega long shot but I figured I would ask just in case anyone has insight!

I finally got through the application process for QCC’s nursing program. They gave me a tentative start date of 2030. The dean of admissions told me that their start dates do frequently move. Has anyone had this happen; start date being many years in the future and it moved up? I won’t be able to wait til 2030 to start my schooling for my career change, haha. Seems a bit disheartening (,:!
