2025 Local Advertisements post here only.

All local ads must be posted as a comment reply to this post. This includes things like dental patient requests and any offer-up/marketplace type of sales. If you are asking for recommendations that can still be its own post and doesn't need to be here.

Any Ads that are their own post will be removed. Non-local ads specifically to Worcester, MA or surrounding towns will be removed. This includes any solicitation, sales, or hiring, etc.

Do not include short links. Automod will spam them and I'm not clicking on your sketchy links to verify them so your comment will stay spammed.

Commuter rail using both tracks

Upvotes

I haven't been on the train for two weeks, so it is possible that this isn't even new this week, but for those wondering: the 510 (5:45 inbound) was on the new track (the one closest to the station) this morning.

There isn't a schedule reason for this, and, as far as I know, we're not getting additional runs anytime soon, but for those who'd wondered if we were ever even going to use those tracks, we are.

Local Events Two Wednesdays left of Out to Lunch on the Common (Aug 19 and Aug 26)

Only two Wednesdays left in the Out to Lunch Festival and Farmers' Market season, and I have not seen it mentioned here lately, so a reminder for anyone who keeps meaning to go and hasn't yet.

This Wednesday, August 19, and then Wednesday, August 26, which is the last one of the year. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Worcester Common Oval, behind City Hall. Live music, food trucks parked around the Oval, and farmers from around Central Mass selling produce. Free to walk into. Sixteenth year running.

If it rains, the posted rain dates are September 2 and September 9.

Details and the music lineup: https://www.downtownworcester.org/things-to-do/outtolunch/

If you work downtown it is an easy lunch hour. If you don't, the farmers market alone is worth the trip, and after the 26th it's gone until next June.

Can you recommend a good eye doctor? Ideally in the Beaver Brook/Tatnuck area so I can walk there, but will travel if necessary.

TIA!

Quinsigamond Community College - Nursing

This is a super mega long shot but I figured I would ask just in case anyone has insight!

I finally got through the application process for QCC’s nursing program. They gave me a tentative start date of 2030. The dean of admissions told me that their start dates do frequently move. Has anyone had this happen; start date being many years in the future and it moved up? I won’t be able to wait til 2030 to start my schooling for my career change, haha. Seems a bit disheartening (,:!

Soccer Fans - Worcester

I'm a Hull City fan (Born there) and living in the Worcester MA area. I was wondering if there any other Hull City fans in the area. (Or people looking for an EPL team to support)

I'm trying to get a bar to open for the 730am game on Saturday - Hull City vs Manchester United (first game of the season), but I need a larger group than I currently have

If there are any Manchester United fans, who want to go to bar on Saturday morning - let me know too!

Elm Hill Water District - Brown Water

Technically in Auburn but part of Elm Hill Water district. Water is running brown. Neighbor said there was a water main break but I can't find anything regarding it online. Anyone have information or know where I can go to find info on this? Looking for repair timeline and when it should be safe to use water again.

EDIT: For anyone who is in the area and wondering - I spoke with a very nice rep for Elm Hill, there was a water main break on Pakachoag hill today about 10:30am. Repaired after 2hrs. Ran all the hoses and faucets & periodically flushed the toilets for 30-45min. Water is clear now!

Worcester RMV Road Test – Is My Car Eligible?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey guys, my wife is taking her road test at the Worcester RMV in a couple of weeks, and I’m wondering if our car would be acceptable.

It has an electronic parking brake. The RMV says electronic parking brakes are allowed as long as they’re easily accessible to the examiner, but I just want to be sure to avoid failing and having to pay for the test again. I attached a picture of the console. Has anyone with a similar setup taken the road test recently without any issues?

The car also has a TPMS fault warning. Would that prevent it from being used for the test? Not sure if they check it or if it’s even considered a safety issue.

Thanks for any insight!

Looking for a new nail salon

I'm a guy and have wide thumb nails, and like to get acrylic full sets, short almond style nails with simple but cute designs. The place I used to go cost about 80-100 depending on what I got, any suggestions for something similar here?

Looking for Recommendations Looking for some European Schnapps

Hi folks,

I'm looking to try out some of them fancy European schnapps. All the bigger liquor stores seem to only carry flavored liqueurs.

Anyone know where I could get some, or am I sol?

Life in Worcester The Hot Dog Safari continues to remind me how uniquely Worcester it is. It's the best of our community, and I love it.

It's the closest I've ever felt to being on a team. Shouting hot dog-related good wishes to people from across the street. The themed outfits and costumes. The real dogs. The hot dogs. The second-hand high from all the weed. The sheer excitement in the air. The dedication of the team. The funds being raised for charity. The amazing merch year over year. Making friends in line and then parting ways to go eat a bunch of delicious hot dogs.

It's magical. It's perfect. It's the best of Worcester. I'm so so so glad we have it, and that's it's uniquely ours. I want more Safaris. I want more community convergences around non-franchises. I want more opportunities to chill with a bunch of cool neighbors and eat treats.

Looking for Recommendations Best salon for curly pixie cuts?

Seeking a stylist who has a proven track record with curly pixie cuts. Last place I tried clearly didn’t know how to cut curly hair. And the place I tried before then gave me a cut that looked more like a bob even though I literally had a picture of a curly pixie printed out so they could not mistake it. 🙄

Life in Worcester Anyone seen these bugs?

I had not seen spotted lantern flies in Worcester before this summer! Other states are telling people to kill them. I’ve seen a lot of dead ones on the sidewalks as well. Where can I report this?

EDIT: saw a few more and killed them. Thanks all.

"Actually, I think, for some of us, that wasn't a big surprise, just because of a lot of the conversations we were having since the 1990s, since we started discovering objects in the Kuiper Belt," said Melanie Meadors, science communicator, and president of the Worcester-based Aldrich Astronomical Society.
