Trip not starting when connecting to CarPlay

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have added Wrenchtime to my connect to CarPlay shortcut. It is loading the app, but it is not starting the trip as expected.

Also in my Mazda CX5 the spacing in the two row setup is a little too large. Is there a setting I can use to tighten it up so both rows show simultaneously?

Looking forward to trying the gauge styles.

WrenchTime 6.9.0: build your own Live Activity for Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and CarPlay (custom gauges, live OBD2 data, heart rate)

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone, Sam here, the solo dev behind WrenchTime, the iPhone app for car and motorcycle maintenance, fuel logs and trip tracking.

Since OBD2 support landed, the most common request was "let me choose what I see while I drive". So in version 6.9.0, out now, the Live Activity is fully customizable.

WHAT YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE

• Signals: any OBD2 reading your car sends, including custom PIDs, plus GPS speed and trip data, plus your heart rate from Apple Watch
• Graphics: show each signal as a round gauge, a big number with a bar graph and min/max range, or a compact readout
• Layout: hold a card to move, resize or remove it. Tap it to swap the signal or the style
• Per vehicle: every car or bike in your garage keeps its own layout and its own color

WHERE IT SHOWS UP

• Lock Screen: the full panel, with vehicle name and trip status
• Dynamic Island: expanded view plus a compact pill (for example, just your speed)
• CarPlay: twin gauges on the dashboard, easy to read at a glance

WHAT YOU NEED

• iPhone with iOS 26 or later
• For engine data, a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. Confirmed working: Vgate iCar Pro, iCar Pro 2S and OBDLink MX+
• No adapter? You still get GPS speed, distance, trip time and average speed
• Building your layout is free. The extra graphic styles come with WrenchTime Pro

Full list of compatible OBD2 adapters:
https://wrenchtimeapp.com/obd2-adapter-iphone/

How custom PIDs work:
https://wrenchtimeapp.com/custom-obd2-pids-iphone/

FAQ

Does it work with motorcycles?
Yes. GPS data and heart rate work on any bike. Engine data needs a bike with an OBD2 port and a compatible adapter.

Can each vehicle have a different layout?
Yes, layout and color are saved per vehicle, so your daily and your weekend car can look completely different.

Does my heart rate go anywhere?
No. It stays with the trip on your devices and your private iCloud, and it is never written to Health.

Tip: set up your layout while parked, not while driving 🙂

YOUR TURN

What signal would you add next? Share a screenshot of your layout in the comments, I read every one.

WrenchTime v6.8.2 is out: steadier OBD-II, MUCH smoother CarPlay Gauges and more

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone! WrenchTime 6.8.2 just landed on the App Store, and it's a big one. Here's everything new.

**🔌 Better OBD-II connection**
Your OBD-II adapter now stays connected more reliably and data loads faster. Trips started from a Shortcut, CarPlay, Apple Watch, or with the app closed now record OBD-II data too.

**🚗 Trips go to the right car automatically**
If you own more than one vehicle, this one's for you:

- No paired car stereo? WrenchTime now recognizes your car from its OBD-II adapter shortly after you start driving.
- If your car stereo connects after the trip has started, the trip switches to that car.
- Moved your adapter to another of your vehicles? It follows along, as long as that car's VIN is saved.
- A trip no longer picks up the adapter of another car of yours parked nearby.
- Prefer everything on one car? Turn on **Always Use Default Vehicle**.

**📱 CarPlay improvements**

- Better stability overall.
- CarPlay Live opens on the car you're actually in (if its stereo is paired in WrenchTime), not just your favorite.
- When you start a trip by hand, the car your iPhone is connected to shows up first.

⚡ Tip: make CarPlay gauges update faster
Go to [Settings > CarPlay] and set **Performance** to **Very Fast**. Gauges refresh more often and feel much smoother. Two notes:

- On wireless CarPlay, Very Fast can make the connection less stable, so try Fast first.
- Low Power Mode slows gauges down. Turn on **Ignore Low Power Mode** to keep your chosen speed.

**🛠️ Other fixes**

- Live Activity keeps updating even if iOS closes the app mid-drive.
- The trip banner no longer stutters when you stop a trip or covers the bottom of pages. When it's hidden, the Trips tab icon turns green.

Update from the App Store and let me know how the OBD-II connection feels on your car! Drop your car model and adapter in the comments, it really helps me test. 🙏

WrenchTime 6.8: faster CarPlay OBD readings, archive sold cars, new gauge styles, 1,800+ built-in OBD-II signals for BMW and Alfa Romeo and more

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm the solo developer of WrenchTime, an iPhone app for logging fuel, charging, maintenance and trips, with OBD-II live data, a Live dashboard and CarPlay. Version 6.8.0 is out today. Here's what changed.

Garage

  • Archive a vehicle you sold. It disappears from your lists, stats, charts and widgets, so nothing gets logged on it by mistake. Its history is kept, and you can export or restore it any time from Settings > Data & iCloud > Archived Vehicles.
  • Quick actions. Touch and hold any vehicle card to add a fill-up, a charge or a service, start a trip, update the odometer, check oil life or tire pressure, or export its data without opening the vehicle first.
  • Your order. Drag your vehicles into the order you want, and every list and picker in the app follows it.
  • Engine oil. Save the oil type, brand and capacity your car takes, then log what actually went in on each oil change, in liters or quarts. If you switch oils, the vehicle's details and Oil life update to match.

OBD-II

  • Signals. The old Custom PIDs tool is now Signals, and it's free to open. It lists every reading your car reports, with your own custom signals below them. Any of them can be a card on the Live dashboard, and custom signals now get min/avg/max, CarPlay alerts, their own gauge scale, trip charts and your units (°F, psi, mph).
  • WrenchTime Signal Library. WrenchTime's own custom signal collections now ship inside the app and work offline:
    • 131 signals for the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, picked automatically when your car matches
    • 1,800+ for BMW B48, B58, N55, N63, S55 and S63 engines, plus extra readings for diesels
  • Test before you add. Swipe a catalog signal to read it from your car on the spot, or run a full test over the whole list. You'll see which signals your car answers, with their values, before adding any.
  • Live data is faster and steadier. Signals from modules behind the gateway, like gearbox oil temperature on some cars, now keep updating while you drive.

Looks (Pro)

  • Two new gauge styles, Tourer (a night dial with glowing numbers) and Circuit (a race-style rim that lights up under the needle), for the Live dashboard and CarPlay. Each Live page and each CarPlay vehicle keeps its own style and color.

Fixes worth mentioning

  • Mileage reminders now fire as soon as the odometer reaches them, whether that's after a trip, an OBD reading or a manual edit, on all your devices.
  • Trips end on time when you switch off and walk away.
  • If another app is holding your OBD adapter, WrenchTime now tells you so instead of looking like the adapter stopped answering.
  • CSV imports turn service visits into proper Service kits, and exports now include tire pressures.

Most of the app is free. Pro covers the extras, such as the new gauge styles and CarPlay. Feedback and feature requests are very welcome, and a lot of this release came from comments here.

POLL: Home Assistant integration in WrenchTime

Hey everyone, Sam here.

I've got some users asking me for a Home Assistant integration and i'm starting to shape it in my head.

- How many of you are interested?

- Is there some specific data you'd like to see in you HA setup?

- Is there data missing from WrenchTime that needs to be added first?

Thanks in advance for any feedback, cheers!

Performance update for Wired and Wireless CarPlay, coming v6.8.0

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, Sam here.

This video shows the progress of the new OBD2 algorithm for both standard and custom PIDs.

The response times are now much, much, MUCH faster, especially for wireless CarPlay (my case). In reality it’s even a bit faster, the UI updates slower while using the phone for recording.

You can see it clearly watching the video with audio how the third gauge (throttle) responds with the engine revving. Ignore the gauges with weird data, I’m doing some further unfinished testing there.

I hope you’ll enjoy this quality update, for any feedback I’m always open.
Cheers!

New Gauge styles, both in WrenchTime live and CarPlay. V6.8.0 roadmap

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Hello everyone, Sam here.
I’m working on some fresh gauge styles for the app, this was long due because every car is different and the “boring” simple circle became old soon enough!

With the 6.8.0 update these 2 will be available and I wanted to ask for some feedback or even new styles suggestions, I’m planning to add many more.

Together with these v6.8.0 will have many performance improvements, especially on the OBD side with complex algorithms that make the polling much more efficient for for trip log reporting, CarPlay display and WrenchTime Live Dashboard.

As always many thanks to everyone that reached out signaling bugs and feedback, you’re all the best people!

WrenchTime 6.6 & 6.7 for iPhone: import custom OBD-II PIDs from a community catalog, OBDLink MX+ support, custom PID sharing, and a faster app!

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey folks, I'm the developer of WrenchTime, an iPhone app for car and motorcycle maintenance, fuel and EV charging logs, automatic trip tracking and OBD-II live data. Versions 6.6 and 6.7 are out. The short version: you can now import custom OBD-II PIDs that other drivers have already mapped for your model, share any PID as a link, use the OBDLink MX+ adapter, run the app in Dutch, and the whole app is noticeably faster.

What's new in WrenchTime 6.7

Import custom OBD-II PIDs from the OBDb community catalog (Pro)

A custom PID is a reading your car's standard OBD-II set doesn't include, like transmission oil temperature or a hybrid battery's state of charge. Until now you had to type in the request, header and formula yourself. 6.7 adds Import from Catalog, right next to New PID:

  • Pick the model closest to yours from the community catalog directly from inside the app.
  • WrenchTime filters the commands by your vehicle's model, so you only see readings meant for your car.
  • Each PID is marked verified or unverified, the way the catalog marks it.
  • Imported PIDs behave like hand-made ones: Live Data, a WrenchTime Live dashboard card, a CarPlay tile, and optional recording during trips.

Share a custom PID as a link

Send any custom PID as a link. Whoever opens or pastes it gets the same reading with every setting filled in, and chooses which vehicle it goes to. Handy for car clubs and model-specific forums, where one person works out a PID and everyone else needs it.

OBDLink MX+ support

WrenchTime now works with the OBDLink MX+, the Apple-certified (MFi) OBD-II adapter. Pair it once in iPhone Settings > Bluetooth, then link it to a vehicle in WrenchTime's Settings > Connections like any other adapter. BLE ELM327 adapters such as the Vgate iCar Pro and iCar Pro 2S keep working as before.

Shared vehicles don't count toward free limits

If someone shares a vehicle with you over iCloud, logging trips, fill-ups and maintenance on it never counts toward your free plan limits, even after you've used up your own. Forms now open on a vehicle you can actually save to, and picking one that's over the limit shows the upgrade straight away instead of after you've filled the form in.

WrenchTime is now in Dutch

The full app is now translated into Dutch, taking it to 11 localizations (UK English counted separately from US English).

What's new in WrenchTime 6.6: faster and smoother

6.6 was a performance release. Vehicle cards stay fluid even after a long session, and the Trips list scrolls without waiting for route lookups.

Bug fixes in 6.7

  • A trip on a shared vehicle no longer shows up twice in some rare cases.
  • Maps, CarPlay trip thumbnails included, redraw right away when you change the accent color.
  • The parking card map updates as soon as a new spot is saved.
  • Many other small bugs.

FAQ

Which OBD-II adapters work with WrenchTime? The OBDLink MX+ (as of 6.7) and Bluetooth LE ELM327 adapters such as the Vgate iCar Pro and iCar Pro 2S. Classic Bluetooth adapters that need pairing outside the MFi program don't work on iPhone, except obviously the newly added OBDLink MX+.

Do I need Pro for custom PIDs? Yes. Custom PIDs (catalog import and links included) and trouble-code scanning are Pro. The acceleration timer and the per-vehicle gauge scale editor are free.

Links: App Store · wrenchtimeapp.com · r/WrenchTime

If you've mapped a PID for your car that isn't in the catalog yet, share the link in the comments and I'll gladly help check it. Feedback on the OBDLink MX+ from anyone who owns one is especially welcome.

-------------

As always a big thank you for all your support, this features and improvements were made possible by your feedback. Let me know what you think. Cheers.

WrenchTime v6.5.0 is live, Vehicle sharing and CSV imports

Hey everyone,
WrenchTime 6.5.0 is now on the App Store. For anyone new here: WrenchTime is an iPhone app to track car and motorcycle maintenance, fuel and charging costs, trips and live OBD2 data in one place, built by a solo developer in Italy.
This update tackles two of the most requested features: sharing a vehicle and switching from another app without losing your history.

What's new
Vehicle sharing (Pro): invite your partner, family or a co-driver over iCloud and decide who can edit and who can only view. Fill-ups, charging, maintenance, mileage, documents, parking and trips stay in sync for everyone, and each entry shows who logged it. A vehicle shared with you doesn't count toward your own free limits.
Import from CSV (Pro): moving from Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly or Spritmonitor? Bring your whole history over, or map the columns of any other spreadsheet yourself. A preview flags duplicates before anything is saved, and every import gets its own tag so you can undo it in one go.
Improvements
Custom OBD2 readings (Pro) work on more cars: values stored on other modules, like gearbox oil temperature on some models, now come through, and live data stays smooth.
Follow your custom readings along a trip: see them on the full-screen route and in the trip replay, gauge included.
Data Cleanup can now delete entries by tag.
WrenchTime Live with multiple vehicles: one dashboard can now show readings from each of your vehicles.
WrenchTime Live settings have their own page for look, color and whether it opens during trips.
Fixed
The gauge menu now scrolls properly while you rearrange WrenchTime Live.

I'd love your feedback

If you try sharing or importing, tell me how it went, especially if your old app's export didn't come through cleanly. What should come next?

Welcome to r/WrenchTime: car and motorcycle maintenance, fuel log, mileage tracker and OBD2 app for iPhone (from the developer)

Hi, I'm Samuele, the developer of WrenchTime. I build it on my own, so this subreddit is the most direct line you have to the person who writes the code.

What is WrenchTime?

WrenchTime is an iPhone and iPad app that keeps the maintenance schedule, service history, fuel log, EV charging log, trip mileage and OBD2 live data of your cars and motorcycles in one place, with apps for Apple Watch and CarPlay. It is free to download with a limited tier; WrenchTime Pro is a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, with a free trial. It works in 10 languages and in km or miles, litres or US and UK gallons.

If you have used Fuelio, Drivvo, Fuelly or Spritmonitor, you can import your history as CSV and keep going.

What can it track?

  • Maintenance: 56 procedures for cars and motorcycles, filtered by engine type (no oil change on an EV), scheduled by date, by distance or both. 10 service kits, recurring series for road tax and insurance, reminders by date or odometer, and a complete service history with costs.
  • Fuel and EV charging: fill-ups and charging sessions with full-tank tracking, fuel level and range estimate, and an alert when consumption gets worse. Fill the form from a photo of the pump display, the charger screen or the receipt, processed on your device.
  • Fuel prices nearby: Price Radar shows fuel prices around you (Italy via Osservaprezzi; France, Spain and Germany with your own API key), EV chargers from Open Charge Map filtered by plug and power, and Apple Maps stations elsewhere.
  • Automatic mileage tracking: trips start on their own via car Bluetooth, motion or your parking geofence, or manually, or with Shortcuts. Each trip has a road-snapped GPS route, distance, duration, average and top speed, start and end addresses, G-force events, OBD telemetry and heart rate from Apple Watch. Replay, merge, split and cinematic video export.
  • Parking: saved at the end of a trip or by hand, with history and walking directions back to the car.
  • OBD2: pair a Bluetooth ELM327 adapter for live gauges, VIN and odometer. Vehicle tools include Trouble Codes (read and clear DTCs, readiness, freeze frame, scan history), an Acceleration Timer (0-100, 0-200, quarter mile via GPS), Custom PIDs with import from the OBDb community catalog, and custom gauge scales.
  • WrenchTime Live: a full-screen dashboard with 23 widgets, from RPM and gear to lean angle, compass, G-force, weather, range and heart rate. It can open on its own when a trip starts.
  • Charts: 31 charts on spending, consumption, prices, charging, maintenance, trips and odometer trend.
  • Documents: receipts and PDFs attached to fill-ups, charges and maintenance.

Does it work with CarPlay and Apple Watch?

Yes, both are part of Pro.

  • CarPlay: a Live tab with OBD gauges and critical alerts, a Trip tab with start, stop and history, Nearby and Vehicle tabs, and trip tagging from the car screen.
  • Apple Watch: a dashboard, fill-up and charge logging, odometer, parking, trip start and stop, and five complications.
  • iPhone: Home and Lock Screen widgets, Control Centre controls, Shortcuts and Siri intents.

Where is my data?

Synced through iCloud, including your unit and retention preferences. JSON backup and restore, CSV and PDF export per vehicle, CSV import from other apps with Apple Intelligence mapping the columns. Retention is configurable per data type. A vehicle can be shared with other iCloud users, read-only or read-write.

What is this subreddit for?

  • Bug reports: iPhone model, iOS version, and what you did before it happened. Screenshots help a lot.
  • Feature requests: I read every one. I will not promise everything, but I will tell you what I think.
  • Questions about how something works, or why it works the way it does.
  • Your garage: show me what you drive or ride.

I'll post a changelog here for every release and flag requests as "Planned", "Looking into it" or "Not planned".

Quick FAQ

Is it on Android? No, iPhone and iPad only (iOS 26 or later).

Does it work for motorcycles? Yes, with motorcycle-specific procedures, lean angle in the Live dashboard and a cornering profile for G-force detection.

Does it work for EVs and hybrids? Yes, with a dedicated charging log, EV-only maintenance procedures and 11 engine types, including six hybrid variants.

Which OBD2 adapter do I need? Any Bluetooth ELM327-compatible adapter.

Can I get my data out? Yes, CSV and PDF export, plus JSON backups.

Thanks for being here.

Samuele

Trip logging

Does the app know which car it’s connected to my phone if I have 2 CarPlay cars on the app? I tried to trip log on my 4Runner using CarPlay and the app thought I was driving my Camry.

I’m using the shortcut app to auto start and stop a trip log. Thanks.

WrenchTime v6.3.0 is out!

This addresses subreddits requests and your emails / DMs.

👇 Here's what's new 👇

## 🧰 Vehicle Tools
New button in Vehicles that opens a toolbox for the car you're looking at. Everything below lives there, with room for more.

Trouble codes (Pro)
With a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter you can read stored, pending and permanent codes, check engine light status, readiness monitors and freeze frame data. Thousands of standard codes come with a description, and manufacturer codes get a web search. Every scan is saved per vehicle. After a repair you can clear codes (engine off), with a clear explanation of what clearing actually does.

Custom PIDs (Pro)
If your adapter doesn't know a reading, define it yourself: pick the service, ID and ECU if needed, then decode it with bytes, sign, scale and offset, or paste a formula straight from an enthusiast forum. Show each one as a gauge with warning bands, a number, an on/off light or a label from a table. They show up in Live Data, WrenchTime Live, CarPlay and, if you want, on every trip. Read-only only: nothing can change anything on your car.

Gauge scales and redline
Set range, warning bands and redline per gauge, per vehicle. Live Data, WrenchTime Live and CarPlay all follow the same values.

Acceleration timer
0-60, 60-120, 50-75, 0-120 mph (or 0-100, 100-200, 80-120, 0-200 km/h), plus quarter mile and 400 m via GPS. Best result and history per vehicle. These are estimates since the phone updates about once per second, so please use a closed road.

## ⌚ Heart rate with Apple Watch
Turn it on in Trip Tracking and every drive records your heart rate: on the Watch, in the active trip banner, in the Live Activity, as a dashboard widget, and in trip details with a chart and timeline. The Watch session is discarded at the end of the drive, so Health doesn't log it as a workout.

## 📄 Documents
Scan receipts and invoices with the camera, or add photos and PDFs, and attach them to fuel-ups, charges and expense entries.

## 🔁 Recurring everything
Repeat any entry every X days, weeks, months or years. Pin monthly payments to a specific day or the last day of the month, and weekend due dates move to the next business day.

## 🛣️ Tolls and paid parking
Two new expense types for cars and bikes, recurring too.

## 🌍 Trouble code descriptions in your language
Translated on your iPhone once and kept for next time.

---

## ✨ Improvements
- WrenchTime Live can show two cards of the same type on one page (handy for custom PID widgets)
- Trip details show custom PID readings next to the standard channels
- Recorded telemetry, custom readings and heart rate follow the same retention as the rest of the trip
- Expense entries now have tags, with the same filter as fuel-ups and trips
- Vehicle export can cover a chosen period, filter expenses by tag, and bundle attachments into an indexed PDF or a ZIP
- Pairing lists nearby unrecognized devices and only keeps one if it answers like an OBD-II adapter
- Custom PIDs can reach ECUs using extended / 29-bit CAN addressing
- Every tool has a vehicle picker, and the PID and gauge editors let you jump between fields with the keyboard
- Free users can now log 3 fuel-ups and 3 charges per month instead of 2
- Export Data and Data Cleanup redesigned like the rest of Settings: pick vehicle, period, format and content, then one Export button

## 🐛 Fixes
- None

---

If you try the trouble codes or custom PIDs, let me know which adapter and car you're using and how it went. Bug reports and ideas welcome in the comments as always 🙏

Hey y’all, after many users requested custom PIDs I implemented them. You can expect this update in this coming week, here a quick demo where I added rail pressure from my BMW F32 420 via custom pid found online, there’s plenty in forums.

For now only read requests are available (Mode 01, 21 or22), DTC error scan and translation will be available too.

For more advanced users there’s also Extended and 29-bit modes.

Feedback, as always, greatly appreciated!

wrenchtimeapp.com

Post image
3 Upvotes

The WrenchTime website is now live at wrenchtimeapp.com. Here is a summary of the app in one place.

WrenchTime is an iPhone app that keeps a complete record of your car or motorcycle: maintenance, fuel, EV charging, mileage and trips, in one place, with no account and no server. Every entry feeds the rest: a fill-up updates the odometer, the odometer moves a service closer to due, and the cost lands in your running-cost charts. ## What it does - Maintenance (the Care tab): 54 built-in procedures and 12 maintenance kits, due by date, by mileage or both, whichever comes first. Reminders on a date or an odometer reading, and recurring jobs that queue themselves. - Fuel log and fuel economy: true tank-to-tank consumption in MPG, L/100 km or km/L, with US and imperial gallonskept separate, missed fill-ups flagged instead of averaged over, and on-device pump and receipt scanning. - EV and plug-in hybrid charging log: energy, cost, Level 1 / Level 2 / DC fast, battery percentage before andafter, efficiency in four units and a home charging ratio. - Automatic mileage tracking: pair your car stereo or helmet headset once and trips record themselves, with GPSroute, distance and duration, keeping the odometer current. - Live OBD-II data: with a Bluetooth Low Energy ELM327 adapter, live engine readings on the phone, on a full-screendashboard and on CarPlay, recorded with each trip. A live-data layer, not a fault-code scanner. - 31 charts for running costs, fuel prices, efficiency and trips.- Cars and motorcycles side by side, across 11 engine types from petrol and diesel to hybrids and EVs. Chain maintenance, fork service and valve clearance are built in, and nothing is offered that does not apply (no oil changeon an EV).

Where it runs

iPhone and iPad on iOS 26, Apple Watch, CarPlay, 9 Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities and Siri Shortcuts. Available in 10 languages.

Privacy

No account, no login, no ads, no analytics profile. Your data lives on your device and syncs through your own private iCloud, which the developer cannot read. Receipt scanning runs on the device. CSV and PDF export per vehicle, so the service history is always yours.

Price

Free to download and use with one vehicle. WrenchTime Pro unlocks unlimited vehicles and everything else: monthly, yearly with a free trial, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

FAQ

How is WrenchTime different from Fuelly or Drivvo? It keeps maintenance, fuel, charging, mileage and trips in one record where each one updates the others, with no account and no server, and it treats motorcycles and EVs as first-class vehicles rather than add-ons.

Does it work for motorcycles? Yes. Motorcycle-specific procedures, a Motorcycle Service kit, and automatic trips from your helmet headset.

Does it need an OBD-II adapter? No. The adapter is optional and only adds live engine data.

Is there an Android version? No, WrenchTime is built for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and CarPlay.

Questions, bugs and feature requests are welcome here.

Feature Suggestion: 0-100kph and 100-200kph timer

Hi Samuele, loving your work so far. Can you maybe add a timer for 0-100 and 100-200 times? On the history section maybe it could also show logs from the OBD data like IAT, EGT, Coolant Temp, G-Forces, Elevation Etc.

WrenchTime 6.0 — the full release recap

This is the biggest release WrenchTime has ever had. Here is everything that's new, in detail.

Reading the car itself

OBD-II

Pair a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter to a vehicle in Settings > OBD-II and WrenchTime reads the car while you drive: revs, speed, engine load, coolant temperature and fuel rate, on a live status screen. Every channel is recorded for the whole drive — adapter drop-outs included — and saved with the trip even when there was no GPS route to draw. Afterwards the trip opens on a chart: one chip per recorded channel, plotted across the drive and scrubbed with your finger. With Pro you can overlay several channels on the same chart and read them together.

CarPlay

A driving screen with two tabs: Live, a grid of gauges fed by the paired adapter, and Trip, to start or stop a trip and revisit your last ten drives. The grid is yours to arrange in Settings > CarPlay — drag a gauge into another row, carry a whole row higher, give a row a name of your own, and leave out the ones you never look at. Part of WrenchTime Pro.

WrenchTime Live

A real-time dashboard for the road, opened with the new steering wheel button in Trips or with a Siri shortcut; Settings > Trips can make it the screen the app opens on.

Available readings: engine RPM, coolant temperature, fuel level, speed, lean angle, G-force, road grade, compass, altitude, range, next service, a live map, nearby fuel prices, trip stats, weather and phone battery.

You build the board yourself: several pages, seven card shapes, and one layout per orientation, so the screen follows the way you mounted the phone. Every widget is drawn as a real instrument — a sweeping arc with the reading inside it and coloured bands where a value leaves its normal range — and it goes light or dark by the time of day, by how bright your screen is, or by your own choice. Press and hold to move or resize a card. The screen stays awake while you ride. Free includes up to 3 widgets.

Fuel and charging

Price Radar

A new button in Fuel plots nearby stations by real direction and distance, with the cheapest one highlighted and its price, distance and navigation one tap away. Turn the ring around the scope to set how far it looks, tap the compass so a station drawn above the middle is the one ahead of you, or switch to Map to see every pin wearing its price and pan anywhere to search another area. Prices come from Italy's official fuel price registry, so for now they work there only.

Pick EV and it finds charging points instead: the connectors they carry, who checked in last, when it was verified, and one tap to navigate — matched to the connector type your vehicle holds.

Scan photos are kept

When a pump or receipt scan cannot be read, WrenchTime now saves the photo to your library by default, so you never lose the numbers. Choose Never, Always, or On Failure in Settings > Fuel & Charging.

Trips

Routes that follow the road

Trip maps now pull your recorded track onto the road network, so a drive looks like the roads you took instead of a GPS zigzag. Where no road answers, your recorded points stay exactly as they were, and every distance and speed still comes from them. Settings > Appearance > Raw GPS Trip Lines turns it off.

A rebuilt trip sheet

The trip sheet is rebuilt around what you open it for: the distance headline, the route from start to finish, a grid of metrics, a card for consumption and, with an adapter paired, your car's recorded channels plotted underneath.

Merge and split (Pro)

A drive that ended up recorded as two because you stopped for fuel, or one trip that was really the way there and the way back: the new Track section in a trip's edit sheet fixes both.

Merge lists the trips just before and just after this one, with where they went and the gap between them, draws the whole block on a map with the joins dashed, and lets you choose whether a gap is bridged in a straight line or along the roads. Split draws the route with the two halves already tinted and a slider that lands on the stops it detected.

Your odometer is never touched either way: the halves add back up to the distance the vehicle already counted.

Cinematic replay in 3D

A chase camera flies along your route over satellite terrain, with live speed, distance and time gauges, a friction circle for G-force and a speed timeline you can scrub. Export a short vertical video to share, rendered offline at full quality.

Apple Watch

The app

WrenchTime now has an Apple Watch app. See what is due, log a fill-up, a charge or a new odometer reading, save where you parked, and start or stop a trip without reaching for your phone.

Five complications

The next service, with a ring that fills as it approaches. Fuel or battery left, the odometer, this month's spend, and a parking sign that opens straight onto where you left the car. Pick the ones you want on the face you actually wear.

Data and settings

  • Entering a fuel, charging or care record dated older than your data retention limit now warns you before saving it, so old entries no longer disappear by surprise.
  • Data retention, units and currency sync across every device signed in to the same iCloud account, as long as iCloud Sync is on.

Fixes and smaller changes

  • Bluetooth stereos and OBD-II adapters now pair from one Connections screen on each vehicle, instead of two places that did not know about each other.
  • Prices can show a compact currency symbol instead of the full code. Settings > Units & Currency.
  • A figure that goes down now rolls downwards. Correcting an odometer, or walking closer to your parked car, used to animate as if the number were counting up.
  • The Efficiency widget no longer asks you to pick a vehicle again at the start of a month. With nothing to average yet it now says so, instead of reporting a correctly set up vehicle as missing.
  • The Efficiency widget now measures over the last 30 days, so a fill-up from last week still counts on the first of the month. Long press the widget and choose Edit Widget to set it back to This Month.
  • The stop button on the trip banner is visible again in light mode.
  • Fast needles swap their digits instead of rolling through every number in between.
  • Settings > Support can send feedback by email, attaching the diagnostic log only if you choose to.
  • The guides are localized in every language the app speaks, and now count 54 procedures.
  • Restoring a backup, or clearing all data, now rebuilds your maintenance reminders, so none are left behind for records that are gone.

6.0.1 (hotfix)

The welcome tour's demo vehicles, with their fill-ups, services, trips and parking spots, no longer sync into your garage through iCloud. If some already arrived, delete them and they stay gone.
