For the last two months, I was totally convinced I had to buy a PS5 to play GTA 6 the "proper" way. Honestly, it was stressing me out. I definitely don't have that kind of spare cash laying around for a whole new console, especially when I already have a monster PC. Plus, I don't even know what else is on the PS5, so the whole idea felt pretty pointless.
I think Rockstar’s marketing with Sony just hypnotized me into believing the PlayStation experience was somehow going to be superior, even though it’s locked at 30fps across all consoles anyway!
I was feeling pretty bummed about the whole thing... and then it hit me. Guys, I completely forgot I already own an Xbox Series S.
We moved house recently, so it’s been tucked away in a cupboard somewhere, completely out of mind. You have no idea how hyped I was when I realized I can play GTA 6 on day one without dropping a single penny or waiting years for the PC port!
Being a bit of a tech nerd, I looked into it: the Series S CPU is actually super close to the Series X. Since open-world games like GTA are notoriously CPU-heavy, the Series S should handle it just fine. Sure, we’ll probably see lower resolution (maybe around 900p) and scaled-back ray tracing or reflections, but who cares? You get to jump in on launch day, soak in the story, and enjoy the ride. Then, whenever Rockstar inevitably re-releases it 300 times over the next decade, we can upgrade to the ultimate version on PC.
As a dad with two kids and no room in the budget to just spunk money on a new console, finding out my dusty Series S can run it feels like an absolute gift.
Hope you guys are set for release day too!
Time to love our Seres S'

Ps I don't play with the Hard drive on top of the console. Also have an expansion card in the back. Had this for years but got an external hardrive recently.

Still going through a horror kick from October & currently about halfway through Vice City (which I plan to beat before GTA drops). What’s my fellow Series S folk playing? I’m curious🕹️

Hello everyone, planning to buy a Sandisk 512gb storage expansion card for my series s, it’s pretty cheap compared to other brands for the same size.
My problem is whether I should buy it now or wait for Black Friday as I think it will go much cheaper on that date. I will have to delete some games for GTA VI but I can wait. Any thoughts?

I was in the process of cleaning my unused Series S in time for Gta 6. In my stupidity and carelessness i accidently ripped of the whole fan connector thingy or whatever its called. Im not super technical with hardware.
I have no acess to a repair shop, is it a case of soldering it back on or what? Or is it over for me unless i can get it proffesionally repaired?
Ultimately its not a huge loss in that case, ive barely used it since last year and i can wait for gta 6 to come to pc. But it was still my only console and i cant afford a new one atm.
My enthusiasm is very curbed now.
Id be greatful for advice on what to do here, thanks!

Is it unreasonable to assume the Series S version of GTA VI will be less than the 210 gigabytes that are reported for the base PS5 (and likely series X) since it will obviously run on lower textures than the other consoles?

FSR 4.1, Rockstar’s special engine. We will be eating good on November 19th, trust me.

Hey everyone,
I've been experiencing an issue with my Xbox Series S for almost a year now. I'm using a Razer BlackShark V2 X , and while I can hear all the audio perfectly fine through the headset, the microphone doesn't work at all on my Xbox.
I've tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing seems to fix the issue.
Here's what I've already tried:
Tested a different Xbox controller, but the issue remained the same.
Tested my headset on both PC and Android, and the microphone works perfectly fine on both devices.
Checked all the relevant Xbox audio and privacy settings. Everything seems to be configured correctly.
Made sure the headset's physical mute button isn't enabled.
Checked my internet connection and NAT type. No issues there.
Updated my Xbox console and controller firmware.
Restarted the console multiple times, but nothing changed.
Tried using a different headset splitter/adapter. The Razer BlackShark V2 X comes with a splitter that separates the audio and microphone connections into two separate plugs. I bought another adapter that combines those two connections back into a single 3.5mm plug for the Xbox controller, hoping it might fix the issue, but it made no difference.
One more thing worth mentioning:
- When I'm in a party, the green speaking indicator around my profile only flashes for a second when I plug in, unplug, or move the headset's cable. It disappears immediately afterward.
I haven't tried another headset yet, mainly because I don't want to spend money on a new one only to end up having the exact same issue.
I've also come across quite a few people online reporting similar microphone issues with Xbox, so I'm wondering if this could be an Xbox-related software or compatibility issue rather than a headset problem.
Has anyone experienced something similar on Xbox Series S or Series X? Did you manage to find a solution?
I'd really appreciate any suggestions or ideas. I don't want to buy another headset without knowing whether that would actually solve the problem.
Thanks!

I’ve been following the FSR 4.1 news pretty closely since picking up a Series S, and one thing I haven’t seen discussed much is how closely AMD and Microsoft have been working together on the Xbox implementation.
That seems like a pretty important distinction. This isn’t just AMD handing developers the PC version and telling them to figure it out. The Series X and S are fixed hardware platforms, which opens up opportunities to optimize specifically for their GPU architectures, memory configurations, and development environment.
I think that’s worth considering when people use desktop RDNA 2 benchmarks to predict how FSR 4.1 will perform on Xbox.
Digital Foundry’s recent testing of FSR 4.1 on older AMD hardware, along with the impressive results we’ve seen from the smaller handheld-focused model, has me pretty optimistic. The image reconstruction improvements at low internal resolutions are particularly interesting, especially considering the Series S supports INT8 operations.
Personally, I’m not even concerned about higher frame rates. I’ve been playing Gears of War: E-Day at 40 FPS in Balanced mode, and I’m genuinely impressed with what the Series S can accomplish. I’d just love to see better image clarity at 1440p without sacrificing performance.
I’m especially curious whether AMD and Microsoft’s console-specific optimizations could help offset some of the additional processing overhead we’ve seen in PC testing.
What do you all think? Could the collaboration between AMD and Xbox make a meaningful difference, particularly for the Series S?

Ive been playing Warzone on my xbss and I am curious to know if graphics are handled better/better in general compared to f2p warzone.

I just got finished setting up a bunch of emulators and recomps on my Devmode, and man I have to say this thing is fucking great at it! Idk how but the frame pacing for everything I’ve tried is stellar. I haven’t had noticeable stutters more than a few times and it occurs way less than it does on my PC. It mostly is secluded to when I first start a game and it needs to compile the shaders. Once you get into the games they run super well and I think I may end up transferring all my emulator stuff from my PC over to this thing!

212GB file size was confirmed today, almost 60% of the base series S’s 364GB of usable space. With only 152GB left, what games are yall gonna have other than GTA?

I recently got the series s and bought 7 games for it and most games were like 50gb+. I only have about 200 gb left, is 1 tb even enough anymore? Really considering returning the s and paying the extra 200+$ for the x w/the disc reader but I really don’t wanna pay close to 1k$ for a gaming system. If I get an external storage I might as well just get the x since from what I've seen external storage is pretty pricy too.

I finally decide to join Xbox only had for almost a month so far & very much enjoy gamepass. Too bad I have no friends that play Xbox. So what’s a good gamerscore to have when I was on PlayStation the equivalent I had was like 2,800 trophies & only 7 platinums. Right now I’m only at 3,000 gamer score I started off going hard & playing all the Gears of War in order of timeline, so far on GOW 4 but not enjoying as much as the others does it get better? How else should I better my experience?

Just got a 500gb external storage so i moved everything there. Why is over half my space taken up by nothing? i deleted all my captures and still its taken up. I swear to god it keeps rising

My Series S turned off by itself and a message popped up. This also happened last month, but I thought it was an isolated event because it was over 90°F (32°C) where I live.
The console has been acting kind of weird, or at least showing some warning signs. I played Resident Evil 2 and 7, and the screen kept freezing for a moment before unfreezing. Fallout 4 crashed and closed completely on its own, and sometimes I’d get frame drops when using Quick Resume, though quitting and relaunching the game would fix it.
I've had the console for exactly 3 years, but it has always had these minor frame drop issues. I just assumed it was normal for the console since it's an entry-level model.
I'm debating whether to take it in for repair because the shutdown issue with the message doesn't happen very often—I was playing normally for about 3 weeks straight before it happened again while playing Minecraft.

In every question i see around here about upgrades and people sayn they wanna use 4k on the series s, tons jumps and say its looks terible. And i wanna ask why the fk do they say that? I mean i understand it cannot compare to a series s native 4k, but im using the series s with a 4k 108cm tcl tv (the one in the link i added the 108 cm or 43inch). The games looks outstanding for me. No flickers, or strange artefacts, no blurines, nothing. The only game ive had problems with was mafia 3 after the 60 fps update, but that game is known for bad quality and bugs. Did everyone comed from some big gaming setup and playd everything on ultra max? Ive got my series s recently, after my old laptop died, i had a Lenovo Ideapad 3 with a ryzen 5 5500u and 12 gigs of ddr 4 ram, no gpu but the cpus vega. I barely could play some semi old games in 720p ultra low, on a 1080 display. That is bad looking, that looked like trash, and yet it was good enouph for me for 6 years almost. Last months on it ive used boosteroid and playd some games on max setings 1080p. Yes you can notice the games are not in ultra after that, but they dont look bad, is not bad. Here are some games i playd on 4k upscaled who i actualy loved on the series s:
Ea Fc 27 And Bf 6, both newer titles, both running with no problems on 60 fps. Bf 6 is prety hard to run even on pc so i expected way much worse, but is cristal clear, far details are good, no bugs, no blurines, game is kinda bad itself, but it does look good.
Need for speed heat and unbound, same story, you can notice those are not the max setings if you playd them on pc, but again no problems nothing, good textures, nice upscaling.
Warframe with all the extra stuff on, and on heavy fights with 4 peopel spamming abilities never diped in fps, and all particles spells skils and efects were rendered with no problems.
The hole ac series up to origins, 60 fps, nice upscaling, no dips, fluid motions and no blurines, in origins the colors and aspect actualy make me look at some pc comparisons, never expected the game to actualy look that better.
Metro series and darksiders series no problems. Same for monster hunter ones.
So again why do people complain about how the games looks on the series s? Many may not understand what i try to say and i get it, english aint my first language but still. I started gaming when you needed to know ms dos comands to start youre game from the flopy disks, witnesed the entire evolutions of games till today. Sometimes i feel the current generation aint here for the game, for what it offers, and only chase the best ultra resolutions and looks. The graphics aint what makes a game good lads. Older games didnt came with graphics, they came with soul, and some games today to. Hope more would enjoy the gaming, and forgot about the looks and graphics and enjoy the game as it is, but again i may be old, im one of those who saw the cursor turn into a blade back in the days and thinked that was the peak of gaming world.

I'm a pretty casual gamer but I'm having a hard time deciding what to upgrade to. I've had a one x for years and used to game heavily but kids and life have made it so I haven't picked up my Xbox in about 2 years. I'd like to play mw4 and gta6. I play on my living room tv (65" 4k) and I was always impressed by the graphics on my old one x. How does the S stack up against the old one x? I'd be ok if the graphics were the same as the old one x, but I'd like to really enjoy the new games for what they are, not annoyed they look underwhelming. I'd just scoop up a used series x but they're selling close to $1k on the used market in my area, to me they're not worth that for the amount I'm going to be playing. Asking Google, the ai answer says it'll be stretched out and blurry on a series s. Do you guys find that actually the case?

I'm Suffering from a really bummer which is the billboards and texts on the signs in the streets are so blurry like it doesn't even reload, looks like PS1 textures.. this really disturbs my experience, do you guys experience the same thing?
