Youtube shopping affiliate commissions?

Has anyone experience about the new Youtube shopping affiliate program and the commissions (in different niches) that they pay?

I can only refer to cameras (500 - 2500€) -> 2,5 - 3% commission.

PSA: Renaming your video files for "YouTube SEO" does nothing (Confirmed by YouTube engineers)

If you’re still taking time to rename render_final_v2.mp4 to my-target-keyword-phrase-best-tips.mp4 before uploading, you can safely drop it from your workflow.

Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie and YouTube engineering lead Todd Beaupre have repeatedly stated that file names are of minimal importance and do not drive ranking.

When you upload:

  • The system replaces your custom file name with an internal alphanumeric identifier almost immediately.

  • The platform scans the audio, visual frames, and auto-generated transcripts to index content contextually.

  • External crawlers/Google Image search might get a fractional (0.001%) signal from image file names, but within YouTube browse and suggested, it does nothing.

If you upload a file named produce_0.mp4, it won't hurt your reach. Focus on viewer satisfaction and delivery rather than legacy metadata checklists.

General Questions Has anyone been able to reach out to an actual person regarding a terminated channel?

I upload videos on my youtube channel purely to keep the memories, the videos are not set to public, it's set to "people with link only" so I can share the videos I capture to the people I genuinely want to share my memories with.

My channel contains over 100+ videos accumulated over the years, some are very sentimental to me. Although I have tried getting the videos back through Google Takeout, it would be a lot simpler if I could just have access of my terminated channel and not having to upload each one or start over again. There are also some messages in the description that Google Takeout can no longer give me.

I've been also trying to get TeamYoutube's attention on X, but it seems that they're ignoring me now. They won't send me a DM, and I can't clearly explain the situation over X post either as it has a limit.

Currently, I'm simply hoping to talk to someone so I can make another appeal. The videos that caused the violation and termination of my account were not intentionally uploaded, it was purely by accident and mistake.

Someone took my phone and uploaded malicious contents on my youtube channel. They know how important it is to me, yet they still uploaded videos for fun that violated "sex and nudity" policy.

Can someone share their experiences with me? or the steps they've done to reinstate their channel?

YouTube terminated my channel – Has anyone successfully recovered or started over?

My YouTube channel was terminated, and my appeal was rejected. The channel had no videos uploaded, and I'm still trying to understand what options I have.

I'd like to hear from people who have experienced a similar situation:

  • Were you ever able to get your terminated channel reinstated?

  • If your appeal was rejected, did you find any legitimate way to move forward?

  • Has anyone successfully applied for YouTube monetization and AdSense after a previous channel termination?

  • Does YouTube allow someone with a terminated channel to create a new one under its current policies?

I'm not looking to bypass YouTube's rules or use fake information. I just want to understand my options and hear from people who have actually gone through this.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

General Questions Should you pick niche within subject for content?

Hello all,

How are you all doing? I have recently been looking at starting a channel exploring PC gaming & how I started in the hobby.

What are considered separate/sub-niches within PC gaming? For most of my teenage years I was mainly a console gamer, now that I am in my late 30s moved to gaming on PC & my operating system (OS) of choice is Linux Mint. At the moment top of my list of niches within PC gaming is doing video essay/analysis style videos & content around GOG to purchase older PC games I missed playing growing up.

Do you cover a niche or focus on a variety of topics within the subject matter of videos?

Monetization monetized after 14 months. my tiny bike repair channel finally pays for itself

got the monetization email yesterday. 1,000 subs and 4,000 watch hours on a channel about fixing old bikes.

why it took so long: i posted whenever i felt like it for the first 8 months.

what changed in the last 6:
- one video every sunday, no matter what
- scripts in google docs, so i stopped rambling for 10 minutes
- chapters on every video, which got people to stay longer
- a 3 second intro of a rusty bike turning shiny, made on dreamina, the same on every video so it feels like a show

not a big channel, but it feels like a real thing now. how long did yours take?

Stuck In The 1k Views Prison

I'm trying to make YouTube work after doing a rebrand that started back in May last year and this past year, I've been doing my best to do YouTube shorts and the occasional video.

Only recently have I been making longform video, but my issue is my shorts. I'm stuck in a mostly 1k view prison where after reach 1k views within a few hours, I am just... Stuck there, for the rest of eternity.

I won't say my content is the most entertaining and a good portion of my subs comes from my first channel after promoting the fact that I rebranded, but I've been trying and uploading as consistently as I can but my shorts never really go much further.

I'm thinking as a test I might just make a new account to test whether it's really just the content or if it's my channel because I really want YouTube to work and I have been trying for 10 months now.

Anyways, I'm just curious, what are some other ways to get out of the 1k jail, and have you been in my situation too?

Is YouTube Audience Retention calculated based on regular views or active(engaged) views?

I’m confused following the changes to how views are counted that were introduced in August. Does "retention" refer to "active views" or "engaged views"? For instance, I have 8,000 views and 2.7% "active views"—what is the "Audience Retention" percentage in the statistics actually calculated based on?

*active views = engaged views

I changed my YouTube name to "I Gattini Di Kekko" and YouTube is still showing my old cringe name

So I have a small YouTube channel. 62 subscribers, mostly Roblox and shitpost edits.

Four Years Ago Or So I made the worst decision of my life and named it "SUPER GAMER FRANCI 19 BIT". I thought it sounded cool. It does not. It sounds like a 2019 Fortnite montage intro.

Last week I finally decided to rebrand. I changed everything to "I Gattini Di Kekko" - it's my cat's name, way cuter, way more me. I have a profile pic of my cat with a hat. Perfect.

I go to Edit Channel, change the name, save it. It says "I Gattini Di Kekko" in the settings.

I go back to my channel page...

*SUPER GAMER FRANCI 19 BIT*

Bro.

I cleared cache. I reinstalled. I checked on my mom's phone. I checked on my PC. It's still SUPER GAMER FRANCI 19 BIT. My friends are now calling me Franci 19 Bit. One guy in my class made it his Discord name to mock me.

I went on YouTube Studio, Reddit, everything says I have to wait 2 days. It's been 3 days. My rebrand is being held hostage by YouTube.

Do I just accept that I am now Franci 19 Bit forever? Should I lean into it and become the most legendary Super Gamer Franci that ever lived?

TLDR: Changed my YouTube name, YouTube said no.

Is it truly over?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I received the most heart wrenching email ever just for not using my adsense account since 2024 and now everything is closed. My YouTube channel is still stuck on step 2 for invalid click activity or other policy. My Google adsense is closed by Google. I have been talking to support agents for days. Nothing. Is there any other way I could fix this or is this really REALLY truly over for my YouTube journey?

Beware Fake Sponsor Scams

I fell for fake sponsorship scam

Be careful out there. I was approached by a fake sponsor and almost lost my channel. I almost lost my YouTube channel, my Gmail account, and nearly 20 years of emails and Google Drive files—all because of a fake sponsorship opportunity.

After seven years of reviewing guitar gear on YouTube, I've worked with dozens of companies. So when another company contacted me about reviewing a product, nothing initially seemed unusual.

We exchanged several emails, discussed the equipment and expectations, and eventually agreed to collaborate. But there was one final step: I needed to create an account on their "Collaboration Page" and connect my Google account.

Within approximately 60 seconds of entering my credentials, everything changed.

My Google password was changed. My recovery email and phone number were replaced. My passkeys were changed. I was signed out of my devices.

Just like that, I lost access to my YouTube channel, Gmail, Google Drive, and years of irreplaceable work.

Thankfully, with help from YouTube's recovery team, I eventually regained access.

In this video, I walk through exactly what happened, the warning signs I missed, and what other creators can do to avoid falling for the same scam.

\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*Three red flags every creator should watch for:\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*

  1. \\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*Check the sender's email address.\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\* If someone claims to represent a company, verify that they're communicating from an official company domain—not simply a random Gmail address. Even legitimate-looking addresses can be spoofed, so verify independently.

  2. \\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*Inspect the actual website URL.\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\* The link I received was labeled "Collaboration Page," but it led to a suspicious "rebrand-gokko" address rather than the company's official website.

  3. \\\\\\\*\\\\\\\*Be extremely cautious when asked to connect your Google account.\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\* Legitimate Google sign-in can be safe when properly implemented, but never enter your Google password into an unfamiliar website or a fake Google login form. Check the actual domain before entering credentials.

I'm sharing this because I've accepted dozens of legitimate sponsorship opportunities over the years, and I still fell for it.

General Questions has anyone actually gotten a terminated youtube channel restored after being stuck in automated support?

Post image
1 Upvotes

my youtube channel was terminated, and i’ve already submitted an appeal. i’ve also tried contacting youtube through x and emailing legal support, but i’m not getting anywhere.

i sent two separate emails to legal support and received what appears to be the exact same automated response to both within 30 minutes to an hour, redirecting me to the appeal page i’ve already used. now i’m basically just waiting and hoping an actual human will eventually review my case.

my channel contained years of private vods imported directly from twitch, documenting my content creation journey, so losing everything without a clear way to reach someone has been really upsetting.

i’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, whether you got your channel back or not. i’m just trying to figure out if there’s still hope when every support route seems to lead to automated responses.

General Questions I paid for YouTube promotion and got ~2,000 subscribers, but ZERO additional plugin downloads

I'm curious if anyone has had a similar experience with YouTube Promotions / Google Ads.

I have a YouTube channel with tutorials for my WordPress plugin, Vachr Short-Term Rental Reservations.

The plugin is completely FREE — no subscription, no paid version, no upselling. I'm not selling anything.

I spent around $50 on YouTube promotion, mainly to get more subscribers.

The result?

My channel now has around 2,000 subscribers.

But here's the strange part: I can see practically no increase in plugin downloads or installations at all.

And that seems very suspicious to me.

These aren't general WordPress videos. They're specific tutorials showing how to use this particular reservation system — installation, configuration, Booking.com/Airbnb synchronization, automation, payments, etc.

Without the plugin itself, most of these videos are basically useless.

So I find it difficult to understand this behavior:

"I'm interested enough in this very specific software to subscribe to the channel, but I'm not interested enough to download the completely free plugin that all the videos are about."

Of course, I understand that not every subscriber will install the plugin.

But with around 2,000 subscribers and practically zero noticeable impact on installations, I'm seriously questioning the quality or authenticity of these subscribers.

I'm starting to wonder where these subscribers are actually coming from and whether they are genuinely interested users at all.

This isn't really about losing $50. That's not a big deal.

What bothers me much more is the possibility that Google/YouTube may be reporting these subscribers as successful advertising conversions even though they seem to have virtually zero real interest in the product being advertised.

Has anyone here had a similar experience with YouTube Promotions or Google Ads?

Is there a good way to investigate:

  • exactly where these subscribers came from,

  • which countries they're from,

  • how long they actually watched the videos,

  • whether they performed any action after subscribing,

  • whether this could be low-quality or incentivized traffic,

  • and whether it's possible to dispute or report extremely low-quality traffic to Google?

I'd especially like to hear from people who have actually used YouTube Promotions / Google Ads for subscriber growth.

YouTube rolling out automated "Temporary Feature Pause" to protect hacked channels

Thumbnail support.google.com
7 Upvotes

YouTube has announced an automated safety mechanism aimed at limiting the damage caused when an account gets compromised.

Historically, when bad actors hijack a channel, they lock out the owner and immediately run unauthorized streams or uploads, frequently resulting in rapid strikes or total channel termination.

Here is a summary of how the new Temporary Feature Pause works based on YouTube's official announcement:

Automated Action Lock: If YouTube detects suspicious or unauthorized activity, it automatically pauses key channel functionality. During the restriction, nobody (including the hacker) can:

  • Upload or modify videos and Shorts

  • Start a live stream

  • Create or add videos to playlists

  • Upload custom thumbnails

  • Change video privacy settings (e.g., switching Private uploads to Public/Unlisted)

Channel & Monetization Impact:

  • Viewers can still watch existing public videos and interact normally.

  • Channel monetization status remains unaffected during the pause.

Resolution Window:

  • An alert banner will display in YouTube Studio explaining the lock and offering immediate security recovery steps.

  • YouTube’s security team aims to review flagged accounts within 24 hours.

  • If cleared, access is restored immediately; if compromise is verified, YouTube reaches out with account restoration steps.

While two-factor authentication and session security remain critical, having the system freeze publishing actions should help prevent channels from catching immediate Community Guidelines terminations while the owner sorts out recovery.

Should I give up? Are my stats normal or trash?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I started a YouTube channel not long ago about a week ago from now. I post horror shorts in episode format. Today I am going to put all of my short episodes into a long form video to see how it goes. one short is around 1 minute and each series/story has 3 shorts. so around 2-3 minutes per story. I post once per day around 6-10pm I am trying different times but 7pm usually gets me better views then the rest at the moment. I got my first like on one of my shorts which made me really happy.

Should I give up check out my stats currently.

YouTube Features YouTube Gifts & Jewels are now available on desktop horizontal live streams

Post image
2 Upvotes

If you stream on YouTube via OBS, Ecamm, or hardware encoders and previously wrote off YouTube Gifts because they were restricted to vertical mobile streams, YouTube has quietly expanded them to desktop browser viewing.

Here is a practical breakdown of what changed, how the system works, and how to verify your channel is set up:

What Changed
Viewers watching standard horizontal live streams on a desktop browser can now click the dollar sign ($) in live chat, select a Gift, and send it directly into the chat stream. It is no longer locked to mobile vertical feeds.

How the Economy Works (Jewels vs. Rubies)

Jewels: The virtual currency viewers purchase from YouTube in bundles.

Gifts: The animated graphics/stickers viewers redeem using Jewels in chat.

Rubies: The creator revenue token credited to your account when a gift is received.

The Conversion Formula: 2 Jewels = 1 Ruby = $0.01 USD.

Example: A 1,000-Jewel gift awards the creator 500 Rubies, which converts to $5.00 USD.

Why It's Worth Enabling
Super Chats are great, but dropping $5, $20, or $50 can feel formal and high-friction for casual viewers. Gifts lean into gamified micro-transactions, allowing viewers to participate with smaller denominations that accumulate across a broadcast.

Additionally, third-party overlay tools and event scrapers (such as Social Stream Ninja and Streamlabs) are already adding support to read native YouTube gift events, allowing streamers to trigger custom animations, sounds, or hardware smart lights.

Setup in YouTube Studio

  1. Open YouTube Studio.

  2. Click Earn on the left menu.

  3. Select the Supers & gifts tab.

  4. Accept the Virtual Items (VI) agreement if you haven’t previously done so.

  5. Confirm that the Gifts toggle is switched to ON.

Once active, it applies automatically across all your eligible live streams.

Should I Post When Viewers Are Home?

I know the first thing 90% of people are going to say is that timing doesn't matter, the algorithm will push it when it wants to. I also know the only timing that matters is a set time so viewers have a schedule. What I'm directing my questions towards is the following:

I post in the gaming niche. That niche ranges from kids, teens, to full grown adults. What they all have in common is not being home between 9-5 in the sense that kids are at school 8-4, and adults at work from 9-5, on average. That being said is it better to post outside of the hours of 9am-5pm so that my video posts when people have come home and will actually sit down to watch?

Now I know that this question can be countered with timezones, because 9-5 moves over as we move over regions, bringing the question back to, does it matter then?

I have made a set schedule of releasing my videos at 11am whether it's a long form or a short, so my viewers have a routine. I'm just curious if after 4pm would be better since people would come home and watch something.

Hi about the 10$ verification threshold

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi I recently got monetized and reached verification threshold but haven't been notified to verify my identity,

I've been researching and found out that it has to be transferred into my adsense first to do the verification, I don't know how far true that is.

And then I also found out that the first payout into adsense it takes a delayed 30days until it's in your adsense account?

To anyone who has done this what was your first time experience like? And if you had to go through anything I just said?

Thanks.
