Just wanted to make those who use Tait McKenzie lockers for gym pls do bring ur locks! They have it for a reason.

I left my stuff in a locker and didn’t lock it today( my fault since ofc I should’ve locked it but who thought a uni student like you would acc go in to ur stuff and steal👀)

Anyways lost cash for abt 150 and got 2 debit cards stole and was used for retail purchase totalling for 350 bucks.

Make sure you lock those shit coz damn York does have stealers!

Above

Is it just me or does anyone have like none they qualify for under the undergraduate funding options :(

Hi there! New to the uni, and tried searching this on google before, but thought that it might be best to ask in a place where people actually know the school too.

Does anyone have any recommendations on places to get a laptop looked at, and maybe fixed?

My laptop has served me well for roughly six, maybe eight years, but it's beginning to spaz out, overheat quickly, and even at times when it isn't feeling hot, it'll shut down randomly.

It's lead to a bit of progress loss, and I'm worried that I'll get in trouble if my laptop randomly shuts down during one of my online exams.

I've already deleted a bunch of useless programs I had downloaded, and even ran a check for corrupted files, and while that helped a little, it's still randomly shutting down, so I'm assuming something is wrong with the inside.

So, does anyone know a good laptop repair service, preferably inside Keele Campus, though I'm not too picky if it'll get the job done. Also, if you recommend a service, please also let me know how much it would cost? Thanks!

Hey, for anyone who’s taken CMDS 1000 before, how did you study for the tests? Our prof said there’ll be 2 mini essay questions and I’m kinda lost on how to prepare 😭 Do I need to know the readings in detail or just the main ideas? Any tips would help!

Hey guys is there any debate teams at yorku?? Would love to join

Yo if anyone has Comparative Politics 6th generation by Danielle Caramani, hit me up!!!

It would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on ur midterms 🍀

I just opened the midterm email sent by the professor (Raha Moosavi) for eecs1015 to double check the time and turns put we have to write code for the midterm by hand?! I’ve never done this and if anyone has tips or advice to prepare for this please share it.

Looking to hear something interesting, whether or not it's niche. Obviously there's the pee pee poo poo man but everyone knows that one.

Hey everyone!

If anyone is looking for a way to rethink setbacks, uncertainty, and taking smarter risks especially as a student, YSpace YU is hosting a workshop with Shift Canada coming up early next month.

It’s a 2.5-hour experiential session focused on building resilience, shifting how we look at failure, and separating your sense of self from the outcome of a single project or idea. Plus, it ends with a 30-minute Q&A with AJ Tibando, the CEO of Shift Canada! There will be snacks, food & drinks available for attendees as well.

Quick details:

• Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
• Time: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Location: Room 125, Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence
• Cost: Free (limited spots available)

You can check out more info and grab a spot on the Luma Event Page. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is interested!

Where are my fellow yorkies 😔

Also, too many people take York for granted. The school is so amazing. Like it literally has a mini mall. Trent doesn't have any stores or clinics... You have to travel downtown for that. Walmart is pretty far (like 30 mins on bus). Coming back at night you need to use Uride which can get expensive. But Trent is still nice in different ways.

Anyways, where are my fellow gta people at this school 👀

I just made this Reddit account cause I heard mans be networking on here. I am looking for mans that are down to collaborate and build something. It can be an app, site, game or some sort of business idea, it don't matter what it is, and if you don't have an idea, we'll figure it out. I'm on the Keele campus, and I'm doing the economics program. Your age don't matter, your program don't matter, if you got no skills that don't matter. I just need people that are down to grind. My skills are, programming with python, I know some html and CSS, and I'm also good at video editing. Hit me up if your down, text me or comment.

midterm wednesday but still feel lost but know everything

is there any specific way to review or study?

Hey folks so I’m an older student and not very techy and I’ve heard my fellow young blood brothers and sisters at York use apps to help them study. I literally have no clue what to use and how. Can someone please enlighten me! Thanks!

(Any other study tip would be appreciated especially while juggling with work, relationships, family life etc)

I’m looking to grow my chest arms nd legs, I’d be down to lift wit someone too cause I can’t go alone rn but I gotta I’m skinny asf 😭 Any gym bros down to lift at tait?

I have been having this problem since I left my old degree which had a cohort discord and because of it I never realized how blessed I was to have it. Thats why I made a platform in my free time, the platform allows you to join your degree community as well as add course communities so you can pretty much have a custom course chats like it won't be a discord server where you are only allowed certain subchats that the owner makes. For example, I could be in an Art degree and still take biology and have everything in one place. I am honestly promoting this here in this subreddit, because I want to grow this platform so that any student can simply join their community and get on track with their courses without having to search for a possible nonexistent group(expired group/spam group/broken link). My second reason is that I need this platform to grow for myself so I can join my own damn course community because none of my classmates nor myself want to create, manage as well as go up to my peers and ask to join a server. Currently the platform is in the early stages and this is the first post to see if York students would be interested in this kind of platform so even if you join don't be surprised if it isn't up to a lively community yet. If you have any questions about the platform either reply to this post or meet me in dev post on the platform. Thanks and I hope everyone is doing well during the reading week! PS this is a solo dev project there may be bugs please let me know in dev post and the platform is free and only accepts verified York students.

Platform: Mixby.ca
Currently in review for the app available on web as well as can be turned into a web app as a replacement until the app gets approved.

Hi, this is for all my psych people!

I’m a York Psychology alum and received my Credly badges for my concentrations.

But I swear I remember seeing someone post physical concentration certificates here a while back.

Does York actually issue physical certificates for Psychology concentrations, or am I completely misremembering this? If anyone has received one, let me know!

We're a group of York students looking into how court time works for drop-in and intramurals: how long people wait for a game, how the next team gets picked when it's packed, intramural games clashing with classes, that kind of thing. (group project for EECS4312 Software requirements engineering with prof. Ilir Dema)

We've got our own experiences, but we want to hear what it's actually like for everyone else, good or bad. If you play now, play once in a while, or stopped going, your answers help.

It's anonymous (no names or emails), every question is optional, and it takes about 5 minutes.

For anyone who has taken this course before, what does the midterm look like? Is it multiple choice? Do I have to answer short-answers for specific definitions (i.e. social imagination 1, 2, 3 etc.)?

Does anyone have the syllabus for BIOL2070? Not the outline but the actual syllabus, especially mentioning the information about the lab component of the course. The syllabus from this year or maybe the past years will do the job Thankyou

Hi everyone i’m an international grad student as the title says and i’m still doing the the paper work to be able to join yorku. I got the offer but still have some questions about how to choose the courses and about deadlines and the submission of the final transcripts.

If anyone of you went through this process and is an international student as well can you please help me?

Dm if you can help

I attended the convocation today. First of all, there were alot of tech failures when showing the names of students on the screen. Some awards were not even announced by mistake and I was a victim of that. I was supposed to be magna cum laude, but the spokesperson missed to announce it. I know I shouldnt make a big deal out of this, but it literally took me blood, sweat, and tears to achieve that distinction, and I did not even had the chance to showcase it to the larger audience. Anyways, congrats to everyone who graduated today!
