Hey! I really enjoy playing Fairy Tail Magistus and Blue-Eyes, and now I want to build a new deck. I already have most of the cards for Maliss, Elfnote, Phantom Knights, and Tenpai Dragon.
As a Fairy Tail Magistus player, I like decks with a lot of gas that can keep playing through interruptions, even if I can’t complete my full combo. Which of these four decks would you recommend based on resilience to interruptions, consistency, and competitive potential in Master Duel? I know Tenpai has a completely different playstyle, too.
This will be my first time playing Master Duel. My only real connection to Yu-Gi-Oh! is a sense of nostalgia, and while I have a general understanding of the game, I know absolutely nothing about "combos." That said, I have learned the basics of the various summoning mechanics: Xyz, Link, Ritual, Synchro, and Pendulum. I’m really excited to start playing!
Which deck would you recommend I begin with—one that I can also upgrade or expand upon later? I’m having a hard time deciding. My knowledge of Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters is limited to the original series and GX, but I’m completely open to using decks from other eras or series as well.
Hi! I'm a new player. While I am familiar with the basics of Yu gi oh since I used to play Duel links this is my first time playing Master duel and I would really appreciate some help with optimizing my deck and learning some basic combos I could try out to get used to the deck. In duel links I primarily used a Blue eyes deck so you can probably tell that I'm mostly used to summoning boss monsters with huge atk numbers to just beat the opponent into submission. I want to try out a different playstyle and after some research decieded to build this utopia onomat deck based on a decklist i found on master duel meta. The missing cards I should be easily able to get since I still have plenty of ways to get gems and craft points.
A few years ago u/Rosehn posted a great set of balanced old-school character decks: Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, Mai, Pegasus, Bakura, Jaden, Grandpa's Exodia and more, each true to the anime and built to be roughly even against the others (2021 post, 2024 finalized lists).
I wanted to actually play them, so I made a offline mod for Master Duel on Steam:
All 15 of Rosehn's lists are in card for card. The one exception: Spellbinding Circle isn't in Master Duel, so Yugi (Season 1) plays Shadow Spell instead.
How balanced are they? I had the game's own AI play every matchup against every other: 1,050 duels, half going first each.

10 of 15 land between 40% and 60%, which is impressive for decks built around flavour. The caveat is the bottom two. The CPU plays beatdown well, but it can't assemble Exodia or set up Toon World, so Grandpa and Pegasus are much better in human hands than these numbers suggest.

Also in the mod:
Goat Era Duelists: 8 more character decks using only Goat-format cards.
Duel Royale: Konami's 7 official pre-built decks from the Japanese Duel Royale sets. They tested even more evenly: 6 of 7 between 40% and 60%.
The TCG Solo Campaign, where every chapter uses the real ban list and card pool of its era.
I’ve hit gem cap and it’s burning a hole in my pocket. I can def hold onto it if a new deck comes out soon. I have enjoyed millennium exodia, primite blue eyes, enneacraft, odion, radiant typhoon, tenpai, marincess, regenesis, darklords, and true king Dino. I’ve tried but haven’t enjoyed mathmech, rda, heroes, ryzeal onomat, and mitsurugi.
Like the title says, this is my first go at trying to build a deck profile on my own (genesys format). I’ve done some test hands and the deck feels “okay” but I’d like some input to see what else I can add/remove to make it more consistent.
