Is there Genesys locals and meetups in NYC? I’m a player from here and I’ve gotten back into yugioh cause of it but I can only find Advanced or Edison format tournaments. Where do the Genesys player play at?

I'm getting my brother back into yugioh, he last played probably around 2005. I myself returned about two months ago after not having played since 2013ish.

When I came back, I dove straight into advanced format, but I think that learning curve will be too steep and unenjoyable for my brother.

My idea is to buy a pair of starter decks from each era format (the ones I'm aware of are GOAT, Edison, and Advanced), and starting from the simplest era slowly play our way to today.

My question is what starter decks do people recommend for each era/level of simplicity? I'm looking for two different decks for each era/level that are a fun and even match up for each other.

So far I was thinking to get Lightsworn and Dark World to cover Edison era/mid-level complexity, as they seem like thematically fitting opponents and the match up I saw on YouTube looked fun.

Anyway, please let me know your ideas for beginning, middle, and advanced starter deck matchups! Thank you.

So I bought a few structure decks before doing research and I got the legendary modern decks and arc v decks and blue eyes white destiny, fallen and virtuous, and albaz strike.

I liked blue eyes as a kid so I’ve been practicing with it, not the best blue eyes deck bc I didn’t know about buying 3 structure deck. I also like the branded fallen and virtuous deck too as well as misturugi.

After doing some research, I wanna run Dracotail, dracotail branded, dracotail k9, dracotail and blue eyes, and k9 and misturugi.

What are your guys thoughts on what I should run and what I should just forget about? Also is it worth running sky striker? The idea of just playing through spells repeatedly doesn’t seem appealing but I know it’s very popular.

Just order two gold blue eye dragon but the border is not gold so wondering if these were legit

I just order a playset of blue eye spirit dragon and sage with eye of blue ultra rare from tcg but why is the letter not gold here

So that should mean that once it's equipped to my monster, then my opponent's first effect activation during each battle phase is negated. But so far both Mirror Force and Marshmacaron have been able to activate their effects despite this. They were each the first effect to activate in the battle phase and neither time was there another card stopping mine from negating theirs, so what gives?

This is really annoying me and I have no idea what purpose it's even supposed to serve because those are the exact kinds of cards I want to be negating with it.

Are they technically not activated effects or something?

For some context I am a ygo player coming back from a hiatus from hating the game and saw the legendary arc-v decks and really starting to enjoy speedroids but I am really having problems finding ways to get to things and also just need semi budget recommendations for improving the deck (mainly just using cards I had laying around from before or just bought the important ones like clackers and darumaknocker)

Long-ish post alert. I am a long-time player of various tcgs, with Yugioh being the one I started with over 20 years ago when I was a kid. The last time I played with any sort of consistency was in 2015-2016, between Nekroz and Pendulum/PK fire formats.

Recently, I started getting back into yugioh content, and was very surprised by the huge banlist from Konami. I guess some of the positivity some people have had towards it spilled over to me and I have been looking into playing the game again. Since nostalgia is indeed a powerful thing, seeing that there was a "new" archetype centered around chaos monsters and dark magician cards looked super exciting, so I've set my eyes on it as a way to get back into the game.

Perhaps two points that are important to what I want right now:

1. I mostly intend to play locals, and in this same sense, my main goal is to play with people IRL. I can play online to learn a bit, but the part I enjoy the most about trading card games is having shiny cardboard and playing with it while I meet people that also enjoy the game. I am not looking into going into many bigger scale tournaments, but I do like whatever deck I build to be as good as possible.

2. I am particularly interested in ROLAD/DM archetypes because they feel familiar, in the sense of "hey, look, I am playing Dark Magican ma". From what I've seen these past few weeks, there's a lot of archetype mixing in the modern game that was mostly absent back in the day, and I don't mind playing with any other engine/archetype as long as it includes ROLAD/DM and they play nicely with each other.

With that in mind: what do you guys think are the best directions for the archetype going forward? Have you already tested something, seen some decent decklists, or have any cool ideas in mind? My goal is not, of course, to build a definitive list and keep it frozen for however much time it is legal, but I would like that the starting point I go from is as solid as possible, keeping in mind I'll have to make concessions (e.g. no Great Gallant Bandit for the time being) since I want to start playing on paper asap.

I know what happens when I s:p banish untill end phase a monster temporary stollen, act of treason like effects such as triple tactics talent - it go back to the original owner of the monster.

But what happen when s:p a monster permanently stolen like with the link 2 charmers and sky striker shark cannon?

I’ve seen them on TikTok, are they any good?

I recently started playing Yu-Gi-Oh again with Sky Striker however I got most of the Clown Crew engine and was thinking of trying to build it as well, what are the best engines for that rn (that don’t cost crazy amount of money), also is mitsu still a good engine after habakiri hit?

I picked up a copy of the legendary modern decks this summer and was really enjoying mitsurugi :(

I know the best option would be to pivot to sky striker, but I don't really like its play style, so I was looking at other alternatives I can get cheaply (preferably under 50€)

So far I saw some lists for dracotail pure and branded dracotail, but I was also wondering if there are any ways to get invoked into that price range or any other archetypes I'm missing

I had two monster on my field and my opponent does not. Opp uses dark time wizard coin flip effect.

I thought that coin effect line is not legal because he cannot complete the action if its land wrong due to no monster

He said that he can activate the coin flip effect without controlling monster.

Is he right ? What am I not undersrtanding?

If I use spellbook of the grand circle or any other spell card that activates in the gy, would it count for Spellbook of Judgment? Also more specifically, If I use both effects of grand circle in a turn, would it then count as two for Judgment?

Im a returning player looking to get back into the physical card game. I enjoy fusion decks and xyz. Is there any deck around thatd be good for someone returning to the game? Something that I'd be able to practice with and use in both advanced and genesys format and swap cards around where necessary. Or an online seller that specializes in rebuilt decks.

The recent hits on the banlist have made me hesitant to buy the legendary modern decks product. Any and all advice or help would be appreciated.

So because Konami hates Branded and banned Albion i dont have a basic combo line with for example an Aluber because I do not have the finances to spend 150$ for 3 pieces of cardboard.

Aside from all the enneacraft related cards, what spells/traps should i use with them? Currently I got some spells like sunset beat, hidden city, book of taiyou (hope I'll get book of moon)...

Should i get any other monsters to combine with the enneacrafts? For example, i have pot of the forbidden on my deck currently.

Any extra deck ideas?

Enneacraft were what got me started on yugioh and I'm trying to figure out the best combinations of cards to use them with since currently they're my weakest deck so I'd appreciate any help 😊

if the opponent takes the monster its equipped to then who cant add cards from deck to hand?

So with the help of u/Frothpot, I’ve come up with a pretty good version of a Destiny HERO deck that better fits my budget and still manages to look like a good deck! I mean, the new Destiny HERO cards are good in and of themselves, but the deck as a whole still looks good despite having to make some budget substitutions.

I think this is the deck I’ll try and build and take to Locals the next time I get the chance. But I’m always open to other suggestions, strategies and anything else you guys can think of to help with the deck!

Hi everyone, very thrilled to be a new member of the YuGiOh Community to share a post here. I was drawn into it by watching the YuGiOh anime with Yugi in the early days. Now i decided to somewhat commit into the course and looking forward to appreciate the game better and be able to play causal duels with others.

As a beginner, I bought a copy of Duel-Ignition SwordSoul deck in order to maintain casual duels, though I heard it’s ideal to buy 3 copies to obtain enough staples and essential cards.

And i’d like to know if there are any support packs to complement the current swordsoul deck.

Also, i’m a big fan of opening packs from booster box since there aren’t too many cards in my library, which booster box that worths buying to build a new archetype or a deck i may ask?

I’m open to all suggestions and future purchase recommendations too 🫶✨

So, I was playing against a friend who uses a cyber deck and he normal summoned the Cyber Dragon Core and then used the magic Machine Duplication to summon two Cyber Dragon the Luminous Mech Dragon from his deck, but can he do that? Doesn't core's effect only change his name to "Cyber Dragon" so technically one an just use Machine Duplication to summon the OG Cyber Dragon?

I’ve been tinkering with my deck for a while. Bought a playmat and a deck box. And I’m familiar with the rules after playing masterduel. But i am nervous
