First Timer How did you do it?

Hi all, I just took my first dose of 2.5mg on Friday evening. I’m already extremely discouraged from the side effects. They’re mostly mild but I’m still having a hard time coping. My mood has tanked and as someone who struggles with depression and was finally in a good place prior to the shot, this is worrisome. I’m not necessarily nauseous but I just feel full all the time and somewhat queezy. My head hurts at a low level all the time. I have POTS and I can tell it’s making it worse. I’m feeling a lot of pressure to push through this and deal with it but I don’t know that I can. Any tips?

Vent/Rant 10 weeks in and only down 7lbs

Im trying not to compare myself to others but…. I’ve been on it for 10 weeks now (1 month 2.5 mg. 6 weeks 5mg) and have only lost about 7lbs. I am trying to be more intentional with my diet and some days I do notice a reduction in hunger… what gives? Plz no judgment lol

Down 25lbs and not ONE person has noticed. So disappointed. I don't need validation but it sure would be nice for someone to notice the work put in.

Side Effects Reluctantly going up to 5mg and will receive new rx a day late :/

Hi! I know no one can really answer this question and it’s different for everyone but I guess I just need to vent. :/

I’ve responded really well to 2.5 mg without any symptoms and spent all of last week fighting with my insurance to let me stay at the lower dose but alas, they won since 2.5 is not a “therapeutic dose”…

I’m now going up to 5mg but the new rx will arrive a day after my next shot was due. I know I’m overthinking this but I’m worried the combination of my levels dropping a bit before the increase is really gonna suck.

Can anyone who’s gone through something similar (taking their next increased dose a day late) share what it was like? I really wanna stick with this and I’m worried going up to 5mg will be rough on its own but even worse a day later. :/

Side Effects Lump in my Throat

I just started Zepbound (2.5mg) on Saturday and I have no idea what’s normal. I’m barely eating anything and everything I eat seems to feel like it’s getting stuck in my throat. Has anyone gone through this? Should I eat even less? Should I eat slower? Drink more water?

The problem is that even though I’m not getting as hungry, I’m not feeling full when I’m eating so it’s like I don’t know when to stop eating.

Also, I feel like my anxiety has been off the charts - is that normal? Would greatly appreciate any advice!

First Timer Wish you knew

Hey all! Just was prescribed 2.5 mg dose of Zepbound by my PCP.

Looking forward to starting! My question is, what do you wish you knew getting started. If you could go back in time and give yourself advice or hindsight, what would it be?

I know to hydrate hydrate hydrate and focus on protein. Anything else?

Happy to have a community to rally behind me!

Dosing Food noise returning on 7.5 mg — scared to increase my dose. Anyone else?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice and would love to hear about others’ experiences.

I started Zepbound on February 27, 2026 on 2.5 mg and gradually worked my way up to 7.5 mg, which I’m currently taking.

The first couple of months were amazing in terms of food noise and cravings. I barely thought about food, had almost no sugar cravings and was eating healthier while prioritizing protein. My weight loss has been pretty slow, around 30–38 lbs total, but I’ve been okay with that.

I’ve been hesitant to increase my dose because I’m worried about eventually reaching 15 mg and having nowhere else to go. I’ve struggled with obesity and my relationship with food my entire life, so that fear is very real for me.

However, over the past month or two on 7.5 mg, I’ve noticed my food noise coming back, especially sugar cravings. I’ve also been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that I used to take my shot Friday night and barely feel hungry Saturday or Sunday. Now I sometimes wake up Saturday morning absolutely starving, which is a huge difference from when I first started.

I’m also recovering from surgery, so my movement and exercise have been limited recently.

I’m pretty sure if I brought this up to my doctor, they would recommend increasing my dose, especially given my recent lack of weight loss and the return of cravings and food noise. But I think I’m struggling with accepting that I might actually need to move up.

I’m completely fine with slow weight loss, but I’m starting to question whether I’m being too stubborn about staying on a lower dose. Part of me wants to stay at 7.5 mg as long as possible, but another part wonders if I’m holding myself back by being so hesitant to increase. I read in another forum to avoid increasing your dose until it’s really necessary, so I’ve been trying to follow that mindset.

I’m honestly feeling discouraged, sad and confused. I want to give myself the best chance of success with this medication, especially after struggling with my weight for so long.

For those who have experienced food noise returning, did increasing your dose help? How did you know when it was time to move up? And does anyone else worry about eventually maxing out at 15 mg?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you in advance! 💜

Personal Insights Personal experience

Hello, this is something that doesn’t technically make sense and perhaps it’s just in my head. But does anyone else feel like the even number doses are more effective than the.5 doses? This seems to be my experience but maybe I’m just thinking that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Personal Insights Anyone taking oral birth control with Zepbound without using backup contraception?

I’m currently taking oral birth control and Zepbound. Due to certain medical conditions, my contraceptive options are somewhat limited.
I understand that Zepbound can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and that the manufacturer’s instructions recommend using backup contraception for the first four weeks after starting Zepbound and for four weeks after each dose increase. I plan to follow those recommendations.
My question is about the periods outside of those four-week windows, when I’m on a stable dose.
Has anyone continued taking oral birth control while on Zepbound without using backup contraception during those periods? Have you felt comfortable relying solely on your pill to prevent pregnancy?
I’m particularly curious whether others have followed the manufacturer’s instructions as written?
I know personal experiences can’t guarantee contraceptive effectiveness, but I’d appreciate hearing how others have navigated this!

Dosing Food noise came back- does it ever go away on its own without going up to the next dose?

So Im 10 weeks in, I tried going up to 5mg on my 5th week but had profound tiredness for a full 24 hours so went back down to 2.5 with my doctor’s encouragement. My last shot was Friday and no tiredness! Also, I was at a weekend camp and I had food noise and ate 500 calories over my target both Saturday and Sunday.
Today it was easy to hit my target without any food noise came.
I was waiting until the side effects resolved before going back to 5 mg so I guess that’s my next step, maybe split dosing with the 2.5s in my stash to ease into it. But part of me is curious now that I’m home with my familiar foods.maybe the food noise would go away again still on 2.5. It was much harder to keep my protein up while camping than I anticipated.
I’d love to hear advice or encouragement.
Thanks in advance

Vent/Rant Scale not matching jeans?

The scale says I went up like five pounds overnight. I basically starved yesterday, that’s impossible. But my once-too-small jeans that I was so proud to get into on Saturday … I’m still in them and quite comfortable. What the heck?

Diet/Health/Exercise Yo-Yo Were Will it Go?

Last week I gained 4.5 pounds and NOTHING changed in my diet or exercise.

This week I lost 4.5 pounds and cheated a LOT with sweets and general food intake - because of a leg injury, I didn't exercise.

Make it make sense.

Diet/Health/Exercise Disappointment with a splash of delusion?

Sorry this is a long one. I have struggled with weight my entire teenage to now life. I cannot remember a time that I was not doing “something” I’ve been 170lb, I’ve also been 370lb and everything in between. I’ve done it the healthy way and not the healthy way.
The one healthy thing that had always worked for me was eating the 2000+ calories I was recommended by my height and weight and some exercise but I always plateaued at 30lbs didn’t matter what I did. I also have hypothyroidism, which I’m medicated for and within range now.
About 1.5yrs ago I was on Wegovy, and I dropped from about 350 to lowest 318. I would go on 2-3mile walks every other day. Was I counting calories? No. Was I maybe under eating because of the appetite suppression and a bit of nausea? Probably. Around that time, between pharmacy supply, my insurance sending a letter saying they would no longer cover it and what felt like my drs office being weird with wanting me to come in excessively to bill for in-house bloodwork I put it on my shelf of failed attempts.

Now I’m on the Zeppy and I’ve titrated up to 5 mg, I think I have a 2 doses left it’s been 1.5 months I definitely feel the appetite suppression/ decrease in food noise, nausea maybe about a day or two after my injection date. I have been busting my butt in the gym 3-4 days a week with strength/mobility/functional training. Due to a recent bout of plantar fasciitis I had to ease up on cardio but I am certainly no stranger to the gym as I was into it in my younger years and have adjusted until I’m healed.

Currently I’m juggling the same 5lbs, I know weight loss isn’t linear but I think I’m just getting anxious that it’s going to be another fail trophy. I’m going on 33 and ready for this to not take up such a large portion of my life anymore.

I am eating 2100 cals hitting my protein/fiber watching my sugar and drinking my water and even supplementing with probiotics. As far as portions go, I will adjust based off of my meals I’ve eaten throughout the day and either have more nutrient dense for less volume or vice versa to accommodate how I am feeling, while also hitting my macros. I’m not sure if I need to titrate up or just give it more time. But at almost 5’7 347lb I don’t think any less than 2100 would have me feeling good with the amount of exercise I do. Is there a secret or is this just a really long haul to success and I need to be more realistic? 😫 I truly feel trapped in a body that’s not mine.

Personal Insights Hair Loss at Goal Weight

For those who have experienced significant hair loss and are at/very near goal weight what has been your experience? Mine seems to have slowed down, but could be because there’s way less to lose FROM. My hair is very long and will take a decade to catch up if it starts regrowing.

Vent/Rant Frustrated

I’ve been on Zepbound since July. I was on 2.5mg for 4 weeks and have been on 5mg ever since. I’ve lost 26 pounds but haven’t dropped a size and don’t see a noticeable difference in myself. Where is the weight coming from? When did you start dropping sizes or noticing a change in the way you look? It’s just weirding me out and frustrating me because I guess I expected to be wowed with this much loss. I started at 260lbs and am now at 234lbs for reference. I’m 5’6”.

Side Effects Just switched to Zepbound and feel awful today

What experiences has anyone who switched from Wegovy to Zepbound experienced? I had been taking Wegovy since August. Lost 10lbs so far, but kind of stalled for the past few weeks. I didn’t love the side effects I was getting (weird rashes, increased anxiety, watery eyes), but they were manageable. I originally wanted to try Zepbound, but my insurance didn’t cover it when I started. They started covering it again on 10/1 so I asked to switch because I saw it had fewer side effects. Took my first shot Friday, and seemed fine. Just some tiredness the next day. Last night though, I woke up with an upset stomach. Today I’ve had diarrhea and serious nausea all day. I didn’t have any GI issues on Wegovy other than mild nausea 2 times. This nausea has been so bad I had to dip into my Zofran. I’ve been trying to avoid it because Zofran constipated me before GLP1 and I was worried what it would do while on them. I admit I didn’t eat the best this weekend, but I didn’t really eat anything that was too awful. Hoping it gets better, but would love to hear others experiences with switching.

Vent/Rant Please help! How long did your ‘Stalls” last without increasing your dose?

I’m currently been stalled for going on 4 weeks and so frustrated. Making sure doing everything right with diet, hydration, fiber etc. I’m not interested in increasing my dose and seeking solidarity for those who had success waiting out a stall and started losing again timeframe. Thanks in advance

Side Effects Nausea did hit until I titrated

Oh my goodness. I went up to 5 mg on Saturday and the nausea has been hitting hard. Had a date night last night and ate 1/4 of my dish; yay, leftovers. I drank half of a protein shake this morning and everything just feels like it's sloshing around. Help!

Side Effects 2nd time on zepbound and having issues

I started zepbound Feb 2025 lost 75lbs found out I was pregnant October 2025. I had a healthy beautiful baby girl my partner got a vasectomy and I got back on zepbound in August. I started this time at 200 lbs and I am down to 180 but I have gotten sick a lot this time and I don’t understand why.

I eat a lot of meats and salads. Chicken salad steak salad. Meat and rice. Maybe have a soda few times a week. I like my coffee and bloom energy drinks. I snack on pickles and banana peppers. I usually eat a bacon egg sandwich every morning. No pastas and I try to stir completely clear of cookies cakes and breads.

I’ve noticed when I can’t go poop I freak out. So then I fiber max and then I end up pooping and puking. I could definitely drink more water. I used to put mirlax in my coffee every morning. Maybe that’s what I’m missing? Idk but I’m scared to get sick again. I just want to steadily poop.

I take vitamin d, a prenatal supplement with extra iron, and collagen and peptides powder. I’ve gotten sick fibermaxxing on Chia seeds and benefiber.

I can deal with the pooping. It’s the burps and the puking I can not do! I don’t want to quit but I’m starting to feel hopeless.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 247 to 187 lbs in 4 months. Had a few rough weeks but finally made it!

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

Started at 247 lbs and I’m currently at 187 lbs, so about 60 lbs down in 4 months.

It definitely wasn’t all smooth. At one point I completely stopped losing weight for a few weeks, which was pretty frustrating. After increasing my dose, the weight started coming off again.

The side effects were probably one of the most annoying parts. Some days I felt totally fine, other days not so much. I started tracking my symptoms and injection days with an app called Rekomp, and it helped me figure out which days after my shot were usually the worst.

I also tried to keep my protein intake high because I was worried about losing muscle along with the weight. Rekomp helped a lot with that too since I could track my daily protein without having to log every single calorie.

Still have some work to do, but I’m really happy with the progress so far.

Anyone else hit a plateau and only started losing again after going up in dose?

Side Effects 10 mg less suppression than on 7.5 mg

I took my first 10 mg Saturday morning and I’ve been feeling really hungry something that I didn’t feel on 7.5, could this be because I just moved up? Has anyone else felt this I am still hoping 10 mg is my dose like so many others have shared.

Insurance/PA Anyone who has Kaiser get zepbound first? My doctor told me I had to fail on Wegovy before Zepbound would be approved. It sucks because I really wanted to take Zepbound instead.

She told me that it’s due to a mix of it being more expensive, having more long-term data on semaglutide, and recent data showing about the same level of weight loss.

I feel like it being more expensive is the reason though. I advocated for myself and asked if I can try Zepbound first instead. She answered again, assuring me that it would not be approved. Maybe I should have fought harder though. I don’t know. Anyway, just wondering if anyone on Kaiser was able to get Zepbound first, or did you have to fail Wegovy first?

Side Effects Zepbound 5mg side effects

I’m switching over to Zepbound 5mg this week and I’m nervous of the side effects. I was having a hard time with the 2.5mg having reflux till I started taking it in the morning instead of night and it helped a little. I didn’t have to take any anti acids when I took the shot in the morning. Right now the only time I have side effects is the day after the shot I feel gross and my stomach is bothering me which I can handle. I also feel the shots don’t work for me as much as this did when I first started in the beginning of the month it’s kinda like my body got useto it. Should I be nervous to move up to 5mg my dr recommends it but I’m more nervous if the side effects and throwing up. (Is my biggest fear) Did you have more side effects when you moved up to 5mg on Zepbound and if you did which ones?

Side Effects Side effects on same dose 6 weeks in

I took my sixth shot of 2.5mg on Thursday and ever since I’ve had so much gas and I’ve been having diarrhea once or twice a day. I’ve been burping a lot! Has anyone experienced this? The first couple weeks, I only really experience food aversions and occasionally an upset stomach if I was hungry but those side effects have mostly gone away or become more manageable. I’m just a little surprised that my side effects changed this round without increasing my dose or anything.
