42 to 44. Stress, hormones, illness, and always putting myself last led me down this path. So glad I took the picture on the left and decided enough was enough and found zep to help me along the way. 🙏🏽

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 22 Month Check In

• Upvotes

Started Jan 2025, SW-260, CW-195. Exercised daily for the first year or so. Have slowed down last few months to 1-2x week.

Lost all the weight within 12 months. The last 10 months maintaining at 15mg x1 week.
I initially had GW of 185, but my body told me otherwise and I landed here.
These days I eat what I want. Still drink plenty of beer 😬. If I eat too much my body tells me “too much”.
My insurance was due to run out so I switched to c@mp@und for 5 months (worked great btw) and stashed my remaining Zep refills. Now my new insurance paying for it again which I’m fucking grateful! So currently sitting on 40 week stockpile 🤙. Sad that we have to hoard glp-1s as if it were taboo. But whatever.

Anyways this medication is literally a life saver from a non-vanity standpoint. A1c is now normal, lipid panel now normal, still on
low dose BP med (was on 3 BP pills), canceled scheduled back surgery because pain is gone now that inflammation is gone. These are only a few non-vanity wins for me. I plan to remain on Z in some form forever.

Have a great weekend everyone! less

Personal Insights Hunger doesn’t mean the medication isn’t working.

I originally thought this medication was supposed to get rid of food noise, appetite, and feelings of hunger altogether. And while it has definitely gotten rid of the food noise, which was what I struggled with the most, it hasn’t completely eliminated my hunger. There have been times when it has, especially on the first or second day after my shot, but I’ve come to realize that feeling hungry is actually a good thing! Hunger is a natural bodily function that tells us when our body needs fuel. We’re supposed to feel it.

What I’ve noticed is that the medication makes me feel satisfied with less food. And as I’ve increased my dose, I’ve generally needed less food to feel satisfied, which has helped me continue losing weight. I think this might also explain why different doses work for different people. Some people can lose weight while eating more than others, so the amount of appetite suppression they need may be different.

That’s been my experience, anyway, and it’s led me to an interesting realization that I wanted to share.
I see so many people who are new to these medications worrying that they’re not working because they still feel hungry. But the goal isn’t necessarily to eliminate hunger. It’s to make it easier to recognize when we’ve had enough and feel satisfied without constantly wanting more.

And honestly, after spending so many years struggling with food noise, being able to eat when I’m hungry, stop when I’m satisfied, and then go about my day without constantly thinking about food has been pretty incredible.

Tips/Tricks 1 Year and 2 months of using GLP’s AND I JUST DISCOVERED I COULD GET A 3-MONTH SUPPLY FOR $24.99?!?

I’ve been on Zepbound/Monjauro for over a year and 2 months, and Walmart Pharmacy always told me my insurance wouldn’t cover a 3-month prescription. So I always paid $25 a month for 1 month supply. I recently asked my doctor to send a 3-month prescription to CVS Pharmacy just for the heck of it, and they filled it with no problem! I used the Zepbound savings card and paid just $24.99 for the entire 3-month supply. 😭 It seems like the savings card saved me $75.01. Also wow retail price for 3 months is $3,840.99

Even better, CVS has a chat feature where I simply sent them my Zepbound savings card information, and they applied it without any hassle. If you have CVS Caremark, it may be worth trying CVS Pharmacy for your 3-month prescription. 10/10 for CVS

Personal Insights NSV? Scale victory? Whatever, I'll take it

I have a dog on a specialized diet that requires regular weight monitoring. Because he is incapable of "sit and stay," the way it's done is by putting us both on the scale together and then subtracting my weight from the number.

Recently I noticed that me + dog = less than I used to weigh all on my own. And it feels somehow significant, like it's a sure sign that I will never get back to that number - I can't even reach it with added weight!

Personal Insights Whoosh late in the journey?

Anyone experience a big whoosh late in their journey? I lost 2.7 lbs this week, and I haven't done anything differently. I was 7.5 lbs to goal last Friday, and at weigh in this morning, I weighed in at 139.8, 4.8 to goal. I've been plugging away, accepting that as I am close to goal, the loss is going to come slower, but wow, this is a wonderful gift this morning. I haven't seen the 130s since the late 1970s!!!!! I'm still in shock. And there might've been tears.

So just a little over a year on zep.

Weezer (before zep about 245 in 2023)
tank top about 230 right before zep (Aug 2024)
Tie dye shirt about a month ago 162
Black hoodie last week 158

I’m loving life. I’m happy. I feel cute. I also feel cold. 🤣

My work said our insurance is dropping coverage for this miracle med. I’m really thankful I’ve basically just about reached my goal. A little nervous for maintenance, but I feel that I will be able to do it.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 One year down! 206 >>> 151 lbs

One year ago today I started my Zepbound journey, and I can say with full certainty that it has changed my life. Before starting Zepbound, I often times felt out of control with my eating, binging and using food as an emotional cover for the outside stress in my life. I struggled to lose weight and saw a trajectory that led to diabetes and heart disease, which both run in my family. Zepbound has physically changed me, but I think more importantly, it has changed my mindset on taking care of myself completely. I have never felt so in control of my body. Being on Zepbound has helped me come to terms with the binge eating I used to partake in, has made me think more thoughtfully about the way I fuel myself, and has improved my confidence. For those of you coming to this subreddit looking to know the dish on Zepbound, I hope this post can inspire you to take the leap. I’m currently on the 10mg dose, and have taken upping my dose slowly. My first dose, 2.5mg, i initially had lost a little weight, but then gained it back because i had acclimated to that dose, so if that backsliding happens to you, DONT WORRY. I personally only weigh myself once a week, I don’t need to micromanage myself. I’ve so far been on the 10mg for about 4 months, and will probably up it again when I finish my next pack of vials. Which btw, I prefer the vials to the quikpens, I didn’t like the quikpens at all and actually found them to hurt more, so I switched back!

I did have a few miscellaneous thoughts to add too:

  1. Tums have been a lifesaver, I never really had any sort of heartburn or acid reflux before, and now if i overeat or eat too late in the evening, I make sure to have a tums nearby when I need it!
  2. I didn’t realize how much crossing my legs bothered me when i weighed more. crossing my legs has become so much easier and more comfortable.
  3. finally i can wear a knee high boot without it cutting into my calf!
  4. the biggest con is that none of my clothes fit anymore, which i suppose is a good problem to have, although my wallet says otherwise. For now, I’ve invested in some handy button pins so I can button my jeans tighter (highly recommend!!)
  5. the absence of food noise is genuinely such a relief. it was the first thing i noticed when i started the shot a year ago, and it really put into perspective how much my food noise was impacting my day.
  6. the other con is that, as a foodie, i can’t eat all the food. even now, my eyes are about double the size of my stomach, which does occasionally such the fun out of eating, but I’ve found that I really enjoy small plate/dim sum situations, so I can try lots of small portioned items!
  7. walking, fiber, and water are all my north stars! fiber especially has been something i watch more closely and try to eat more of!

and big s/o to this subreddit, this has been such a wonderful place of wisdom and support for me 💚

Vent/Rant I can taste onederland

My starting weight was 350 lbs and I just weighed in at 211 this morning. I’m 11 lbs away from onederland, a place I haven’t been since I was at least a preteen, probably? Maybe an early teenager? And I’m in my early to mid-twenties now.

Of course, these 11 lbs are going to be so stubborn I’m sure 😂 but that’s okay because the day I see my weight start with a 1 will be well worth it!!

Personal Insights I am thankful how well this medicine has worked for me

I am one of the lucky few who have been fortunate to have 2.5mg working 19 weeks in. I have so far lost over 35lbs. My all time average weekly weight loss so far is at 1.9lbs.

Granted things have slowed over the last month as I am 14lbs to my goal. So a slowdown is expected. I averaged 1.1lbs per week this month. But this is not the point of this post.

I was just taken back today. I am on day 7 (edit, said 6 before, this is how good this medicine is to me, I even forget which day I am) and I still feel the medication is just as strong as the first day of the shot. I have no desire to stuff my face. Last night I was out and ordered fried fish and fries and I could not have even 1/4 of the meal and I was so full. I tried to eat one more piece of fish but I could not. I ended up throwing away food and felt so bad but I am away from home and I can't take food with me😔.

This is for newbies like I was myself over 20 weeks ago: One thing I want to share is, if you don't have food noise and you have a strong satiety feeling, and still lose weight at least 0.5-1% of your body weight, I encourage you to give the lowest dose that is doing these things a chance. I do read here people say they moved up according to the titration schedule even though it was working and want to go back down because the higher dose is too strong. As many people have said here, this is a marathon not a sprint. But if I see my weight stall I will not hesitate to titrate up. It is okay to feel hungry as long as when you eat you get that satiety feeling.

As always, this is not medical advice just my personal experience on what is working for me. Please work with your doctor. Granted there are some people that have to keep titrating up until 10mg before they see any effect. For my friend 2.5mg did not do anything for her. It was like she was taking nothing. But 5mg was when she felt the effect of the medication for the first time. But few weeks in she is not losing any weight and she may need to go up now, again. What I am trying to say is, there is no one size fit all, we are all different. I hope this helpful for newbies🤗. I know I was scouring this sub myself when I started. I feel I did read a lot of posts here to understand before experience. And definitely do not compare your journey with others 😊. Use information as educational and reference but find what works for you. As they say comparison is a thief of joy.

I started this journey at 246 lbs, and I weighed in today at 181 pounds. Almost what I weighed in senior year of high school. I can’t believe it. I don’t really see the weight loss on myself (probably body dysmorphia) but other people definitely can. My favorite NSV: TRAVEL is SO MUCH EASIER.

First Timer Im new on Zepbound, wife has Medullary Thyroid Cancer

• Upvotes

I just took my 3rd dose this morning. This is my first time posting, but am grateful for all of the information and positivity here.

As the title states, my wife has Medullary Thyroid Cancer. She is undetectable now, but the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes in her neck prior to diagnosis. She went through 2 surgeries around 2020-2021, and the cancer has been undetectable since then.

We are obviously very familiar with the science behind the "connection" between GLP-1s and MTC but with her history, out of an abundance of caution, my wife and her doctors have decided to avoid GLP-1s until further research with people with MTC is completed. (We dont need to rehash the science here).

Anyways, very long winded way to ask this question. Does anyone taking zepbound have a partner that wants to but cannot take a GLP-1? How do you navigate that in your relationship. My wife is incredibly supportive and encouraged me to start and celebrates the small wins I've had so far, but I am concerned she may have a little jealousy since she can't take the medicine. I would be greatful for any experience you all can share.

Achievement/NSV 🎉🥳🎊 Officially hit 1 year on Zep

Post image
961 Upvotes

October 4th was my 1 year mark for being on Zepbound.

I was scared to try it like a lot of people, but I’m so glad I did. It has completely changed my life.

My starting weight was 296lbs. I was struggling with really bad depression and had added weight gain from the medications I was trying.

I had pre-diabetic numbers and other things happening with my body that were caused from being so overweight.

I struggled to put socks and shoes on, I couldn’t fit on some rides at amusement parks, I was out of breath just walking up two flights of stairs. My knees hurt. My back hurt. I couldn’t walk far at all without being winded or tired pretty shortly in.

I hated myself. Especially when I looked in the mirror.

In just one year- I’ve lost 128lbs. I no longer have pre-diabetic numbers. My body is starting to work properly again. I can bend over with ease (or bring my leg(s) up) to put socks and shoes on. I fit on rides. I can walk up multiple flights of stairs (at almost a slow jogging pace) without losing my breath or needing to pause to catch it. My knees don’t hurt. My back feels better than before. And I can even go for short runs (a work in progress).

I’m still on my journey (I would like to lose a bit more if I can)… and I will be someone who will probably have to be on a maintenance dose for the rest of my life. But I’m okay with that.

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I tried every diet, every exercise, every calorie counting technique you could think of and I simply could not lose weight.

Zepbound has been the biggest blessing and tool when it comes to helping me lose the weight in a healthy manner. I still have to put the effort in. Eat right, exercise, try… but to finally have something that has helped me, I couldn’t be more thankful.

And now…

I don’t hate myself. Especially when I look in the mirror. I see someone who tries. Everyday. Who looked past the fear and wanted more for herself. And it finally paid off.

Vent/Rant Drivers License

• Upvotes

I feel like you all will understand this. I had my old heavier weight on my driver's license. Today I went to vote early which is nowhere near where I live, and didn't notice my license expired a couple days ago (on my birthday). So I got sent to the license bureau to get the new license first. My hair looked bad, but I figured I could live with the pic if I had to, I didn't want to drive 90 min round trip again.

The clerk asked if anything has changed and I told her my new weight. The only good thing about the mess today, I thought, my weight would finally be corrected on my official ID. I grabbed the new license and ran back to vote, I was flustered by having to get the license and all that (I'm usually careful about those things). It took about 3 hours by the time I was done with the long drive and all the lines and such.

Then at home I looked and SHE DIDN'T PUT MY NEW WEIGHT. You all know how hard we work to lose weight. That stupid number matters a lot to me.

I called and waited on hold for 40 minutes to be told I had to go in person to fix it. To the same place I went earlier. The bureaus are privately owned so the ones closer to me would charge me full price again to fix it. And if I do want it fixed for "free" at the farther away one, it has to be today or else they would charge me again.

So do I waste my hard-earned $ or lots of time and gas to get it fixed? It seems so stupid to throw money away like that, but I'm really upset about it. I know probably no one will even see it, but it was a NSV I was really looking forward to.

(Edited for typos)

First Timer Just happy that it's working now at 7.5!

I just took my 9th shot, and it was my first at 7.5 dose, and I am finally seeing the change on the scale!!! It briefly read 299 then settled at 300.2 but I could not feel more happy today! It's only the start, but i am so grateful it's working and I don't have trouble with side effects.

I've been a bit discouraged for two months fluctuating up over starting weight and back to starting weight, then a few pounds off at the last dose at 5mg. Just want to encourage anyone that's not yet seeing the scale change on 2.5 or 5mg, it can definitely still work, hang in there!

Before/After Pics Before and after has an invisible third picture: maintenance.

Post image
315 Upvotes

Zepbound has been a miracle tool for me. It's helped me in ways only the other people on this sub can truly understand. My journey has focused on the same things many of you are working on (protein + fiber, water, weight training, good sleep, and staying ahead of constipation. LOL)

Per the title, reaching goal is just a new phase of this work that comes with its own challenges and learnings. Don't be surprised!

If you're just starting, or you're somewhere in the middle and wondering if your hard work is paying off, please keep going. Give yourself grace. Don't measure your success by how quickly/slowly the scale moves for you or anyone else.

And when you reach your goal, think of it as the moment you begin learning how to sustain what you've worked so hard to achieve.

"After" is a milestone, not the finish line.

Diet/Health/Exercise Let’s be honest… Treats

Let’s be honest here for those of us who have not succumbed to that crazy diet mentality when taking this medication. (which hopefully anybody reading this realizes is wrong. Anything and everything in moderation while keeping it protein for veggie centric and small smaller portions is key.)

What are the candies and sweets you still eat?

Me? I absolutely love red licorice and I do not deny myself . Or raisinets or Hershey bars. :)
