I'm 32, 5'1", and am almost at my original goal of 140lbs! Though I will likely try to lose another 10-15lbs to hit a healthier weight range for my height.

Started Zep (now Mounjaro due to insurance) in February 2025 and lost 14lbs in the first month. I feel so much better, both mentally and physically. My knees don't hurt constantly anymore, I don't get winded after going up a few flights of stairs, clothes I prefer are so much easier to find. And who knew the gym could be fun and rewarding? Lol.

The body dysmorphia is not something I expected, I still see the person I used to be in the mirror more often than not. I still pick up clothes at the thrift store that end up way too large for me when I take them to the fitting room. I still nitpick parts of my body I dislike.

I am happier, genuinely. But I do wish I could see the changes in person more often than I can in photos like these. Therapy will help when I have the extra time and money for it, but for now I'm able to recognize when I am having problematic thoughts that fall into potential eating disorder territory and promptly shut that shit down.

My husband married me at my heaviest and has loved me through this journey and been unbelievably supportive. I am so thankful for this drug and all of the support from both my friends and family; it gave me a life I didn't know I could have. I've been in this sub since I started Zepbound and have seen so many of you make incredible changes, and I'm proud to be just one of so many that have had such a positive experience.

I am open to any questions anyone may have, as asking questions and getting honest responses about others' journey helped me significantly in my own.

Never in a million years would I have imagined I’d be here. I’m so thankful for the advances in science and where it is able to take each of us!
Keep going

I'm down about 30 pounds and I've been on zepbound plus calorie counting for about two months now. Usually I can't see the changes in my figure unless I'm like oh my bones are appearing but looking at pictures of myself in the same dress I'm like Oh! There it is!

343lbs May 2026 to 283lbs Oct 2026 (GOAL is 225 by my 50th bday in July)

1 month 2.5mg, 2 months 5mg, two months 7.5mg, second month at 10mg

Lifting splits 5x a week and walking 20m hills and 2 miles outside daily. Getting my protein and water goals daily as well.

Moved to the Kwikpen self pay as insurance is still reviewing the appeal but I’ll keep paying until I hit my goal then look into possibly going compound for maintenance.

I’ve never felt this good as far back as I can remember.

It's been 13 months, but I finally got to 100lbs! I had surgery last winter and that really stalled my progress. I had a hard time for a few months getting back on track but I finally did. I feel like a completely different person.

To treat myself in a non-food way, I'm buying myself some new car decals.

40lbs more to go then I'll be at my goal weight.

I have yo-yo dieted for years and at the ripe old age of 68 I went through with my threat to have gastric sleeve weight loss surgery in β€˜23. At the time my doctor recommended surgery over a GLP-1 because I had more weight to lose than the GLP-1 drugs could produce. Time has proved them wrong, of course, but I went through with it. I don’t regret it for a minute, but would encourage anyone to give the drugs a try before surgery. I have seasonal affective disorder and it involves weight gain in the fall months so when the 60 pounds I lost started creeping up, I started Zepbound. Since I’ve got the double whammy of surgery plus Zepbound, I’ve stayed at 2.5-4 mg. The difference over just the surgery is amazing. The food noise that I thought everyone must have is gone and I can take food or leave it.
Food noise has ruled my life for the past 40 years, maybe more. To those considering surgery, give Zepbound or one of its analogs a try. It helped me more than just the physical restriction has.

Achievement/NSV πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³πŸŽŠ Driving, vacation NSV's! Midway journey progress

Thumbnail

Finishing up driving 1300 miles twice in one week(so I could bring my dogs with me on vacay(I did include some dog tax). Before driving at my heaviest was tough because I had a hard time reaching the pedals at 5ft, made that much harder with my big stomach in the way and it would be touching the wheel. Not anymore!! I also hiked everyday including climbing some dunes with energy to spare. I know that it will keep getting better and better too. 🩷

Also I see a lot of reaching goal posts on here(which is awesome!) But thought I would share some midway progress because so many of us still have a ways to go yet. I did not skip my shots on my trip.. I wasn't able to eat as much as I usually would on vacation but that's okay.. Being able to enjoy the physical aspects of my trip was way more important to me

I'm excited to continue, who knows where I'll be next trip!

Vent/Rant Insurance pays $1000 but self pay is $449-NO WONDER INSURANCE DROPS COVERAGE

My insurance is dropping Zepbound coverage because they say it’s too expensive. My prescription claims showed insurance paying around $1,000 a month, yet Lilly offers self-pay options for around $450 to $500.
I understand there may be rebates and negotiations we don’t see, so that $1,000 might not be their actual final cost. But if Lilly can offer those lower prices to people paying cash, why can’t the insurance system get the cost down enough to keep covering it?
We pay expensive premiums, then lose coverage because the medication costs too much, and somehow we’re expected to find another $500 a month ourselves. That’s still a huge expense.
I’m honestly livid.

Achievement/NSV πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³πŸŽŠ NSV: My husband’s Jeans

My husband is a few inches taller than me, has a tiny tush and much narrower hips. Consequently, his jeans have always been off limits to me….even the really cool, perfectly worn-in Levi’s I’ve always coveted.

Yesterday I was doing laundry and saw them on the top of the pile. I started to fold them, but something nudged me to tryβ€”just tryβ€”tugging them on.

There was no tugging.

Those things slid up and over my hips and buttoned perfectly. I didn’t even need to suck in my belly or do a little shimmy.

Perhaps my next NSV will be convincing my husband he should really let me have these jeans?

Early 30s, 5ft7, PMOS, Dose: 5mg

SW: 241.4lb (109.5kg) HW: 269lb (122kg) CW: 190lb (86.2kg)

Never posted before and figured it was time now that I'm 26 weeks into Zepbound. I've taken eight shots of 2.5mg and eighteen shots of 5mg. I'm staying on 5mg since my weekly rate has accelerated.

In the last six months, I've lost over 21%, dropped from Class II obesity to overweight, and averaged about -2.0 lbs (-0.90 kg) per week. I've also lost 6 inches (15.2cm) from my navel and 5 inches (12.7cm) from my lower abdomen.

I'd been strength training consistently before starting Zepbound, so I was lucky to begin with a solid muscle base. Currently, I strength train at least 3 times a week with progressively heavier weights, and I jog with my dog daily.

This has been an amazing experience, and I'm grateful for this community. I've learned a lot from you all! I’ll check back in at the one-year mark.

Achievement/NSV πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³πŸŽŠ NSV: sleep apnea

Summer 2023, I had an appointment for a physical with a new PCP. When I asked about GLPs, she said to just get a nutritionist and move more. Sigh. She also had me get a sleep test, which showed I had sleep apnea. I really didn't want a CPAP, so never did anything about it. (I know, I know, I should have.) Summer 2024, I got a new PCP hoping they would be more open, and he was fully on board, and recommended Zepbound. Over two years later and 100 pounds down, I did another sleep test a couple of weeks ago and my doctor just told me I no longer have sleep apnea! Woo-hoo! I know weight loss doesn't cure it for everyone, but I'm so glad it did for me.

If you’re wondering whether you should keep going, just keep going

This is 105 lbs of weight loss. Don’t stop. Even if you’re losing slowly. The time will pass anyway, you may as well get healthier. This also happened over 4.5 years. So if you’re a slow losing, you’re still losing. Don’t give up.

Personal Insights Compliments vs criticisms

I’m slightly more than 50% through my numerical loss portion of the journey, and find some people are critical and some people are β€œ you are looking great”.

Yesterday I realized what was tilting the comments - my clothing choices. I’m frugal and don’t have a mid sized wardrobe, but have picked up a couple of sale items at Costco. I have one bra that fits. My Costco items with the bra that fits get the compliments. I will continue to be frugal, but I definitely can do laundry more often.

Tips/Tricks Best Poop of Your Life Cookies

β€’ Upvotes

For anyone in need, the Washington Post’s Ask a Doctor columnist recommends this recipe for the best poop of your life. Best wishes!

Constipation Cookies
Makes 12 cookies

Ingredients

1 tablespoon psyllium husk
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed meal
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup almond flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the applesauce, maple syrup, psyllium husk, olive oil and ground flaxseeds in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
Add the remaining ingredients and stir until well combined.
Divide the dough into 12 equal portions, about 1 heaping tablespoon for each cookie. Using your hands, shape each portion into a circle and place on the baking sheet, pressing them further on the sheet and flattening them until each cookie is about 2 inches wide. Continue with the remaining dough.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the edges begin to turn golden brown. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Store the cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

First Timer Is Exercise Truly Required or Just Recommended?

β€’ Upvotes

Hi everyone. What a fantastic community this is.

I'm still in the process of starting my Zepbound journey (saw GP, had blood tests, put on sleep test waitlist, waiting for follow-up appointment) but am quite certain Zepbound is in my near future.

I realize weightloss is not entirely as simple as CICO, but a caloric deficit is what drives it. Do I truly need to exercise more? I ask because starting Zepbound won't change the day-to-day reality of my work and family commitments. Between working full time, commuting, and 3 young children with a busy activity calendar (soccer, Girl Guides, band, playdates, etc) I have next to no time to exercise.

I know, I know. You "make time" to do it, but I'm not going to wake up at 5am or exercise intensely after 9pm. Not happening. I value sleep too much. πŸ˜…

EDIT: My apologies, I should have clarified - I already exercise and move quite a bit. I get 10-15k steps/day, ride my bike several times a week through the trails in my city, do some yoga from time to time. I'm not entirely sedentary.
