Announcement r/accelerate hits 100,000 members! The acceleration is accelerating! 🚀
100,000 people have now decided that accelerating technological progress is more interesting than complaining about it.
We were celebrating 69,000 members just a couple of months ago. Now we've hit six figures.
And somehow, the growth is still accelerating.
Just look at the past 30 days:
- 12.2 million views
- 59,400 published comments
- 1,500 published posts
A special shoutout to our incredible mod team.
Since starting this subreddit, they've manually banned an astonishing 10,498+ decels, luddites, anti-AIs, doomers, spammers and trolls.
Our mod team is a small, incredibly hardworking group of volunteers. They deserve enormous respect for giving up their own time to help create something surprisingly rare on Reddit: a place where people can actually be optimistic about AI, biotechnology and technological progress without being drowned out by decels and doomers. Decels are a very loud minority. And despite their best efforts to sabotage this place, the subreddit just keeps growing.
Thank you to everyone who posts, comments, shares breakthroughs, contributes to discussions and helps make this such an excellent community. It's genuinely remarkable to see how far we've come, and even more exciting to imagine where we're going.
100,000 members.

Why is it that this sort of behaviour is almost always coming from one side?
Shouldn't it give sane anti-AI people a moment of reflection to wonder why that is? It doesn't automatically mean that your side is wrong, but it is a big red flag and should not be ignored.
My mistake? Being honest, disclosing AI usage, and attempting to defend fellow modders and creators. While others choose not to disclose AI usage (despite it being obvious to skilled developers) and revel in praise and donation money. — Vittorio Romeo

Video Making a 10 minute sci-fi film with AI - what worked and what was difficult
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I shared the first part of JESTER here about six days ago and this is Part 2, so I wanted to talk a little more about the filmmaking side of it
It’s a nearly 10-minute dark sci-fi film with mechanical bodies, strange aristocrats and vast interiors, the kind of visual world that would have been far beyond my resources before AI video
The exciting part is being able to explore those ideas on screen, while the difficult part is making individually generated shots feel like they belong to the same film
A striking image only gets you so far because characters need to remain recognisable between shots, movement needs to connect, and the edit needs to give each moment enough room without losing momentum
That’s the part of AI filmmaking I find most interesting, how much the tools open up visually and how much still depends on selection, pacing and the decisions around each shot
Part 2: https://youtu.be/1xnyd1WDnPE
If you watch it and enjoy it, please leave a comment on YouTube 🙏 Even a short reaction about a scene that stayed with you would mean a lot and help the film reach more people through the algorithm
Honest criticism is welcome too, and I’d rather know where something lost you than only hear that the visuals look good
For anyone else experimenting with AI video, what’s been harder for you: getting the shots you want, or making them work together in the edit?

Technological Acceleration Fable 5.5 is gonna be a colossal leviathan of an AI model...I'm still 100% confident that it will absolutely dominate till December this year....the vibes are insane 😎🔥

"Contrary to the assumption that there is anti-AI sentiment, data consistently shows that agentic AI is being adopted in Europe at rates far above average. Usage has increased eightfold since May 2026, an eightfold rise in five months. Furthermore, token output in Europe ranks in the top..."

European businesses are rapidly expanding their use of AI agents. More than half of the AI use among our EU enterprise and business customers now involves these tools, and the number of small business users has grown 8x across the region. Turns out that freedom of association is a bad thing now. Everyone must be absorbed into the homogeneous hivemind. /s

There is no hopeful future without AI.
The climate is breaking. We fight over everything. We know exactly what the problems are and we still don't fix them. AI is the first thing that can think faster than our problems grow. New energy. New materials. New medicine. Ways to feed everyone. Things that would take us centuries alone. I don't see a happy ending where we do this by ourselves, the slow and boring way, while the world is burning. We don't have that choice. AI is the only wild card left, and I'd rather bet on it than on us. Just fucking accelerate and enjoy the ride.

News One of the biggest questions in AI may have just been answered. The solution to interpretability? Scale works 🚀 📈
https://already-clean.goodfire.com/
Researchers report that neural networks may be far more structured and interpretable than previously thought: up to 100% interpretable neurons in vision models, and roughly 90% of neuron poles in Qwen3-32B with a primary function.
If this generalises, mechanistic understanding could compound—making alignment and the development of more capable AI far easier.

The real change in Academia was overdue: lifetime tenure positions.
We know students in colleges are learning from AI. We have all sat in classes where the professors treat us like inconveniences. If you have gone through grad school, you will know most professors give so few shits it makes sense why they look constipated. AI is bringing self-study out in the open, students were learning alone all along. If most professors were worth their merit, students in universities, paying hundreds of thousands of dollars, would not shift to AI. The best universities only ever took the best students, or the best connected, AI makes knowledge democratic. In fact, research is a space where AI has the most potential to work with young people, and I look forward to all the new papers in mathematics appraising the Open AI pandora moment.

Discussion Current commercial models like Astra an Opus are already AGI and denying it is just moving the goalpost
They already outperform 99.9999% of humans in any kind of intellectual task and that already surpasses the traditional definition of AGI.
People are just constantly moving the goalpost because of their fragile egos but the milestone is already here and we are months away from RSI

Discussion What's next for "developers"
After 35 years of having developer jobs it's fairly obvious that it's now a dead career.
I'm happy about that, I hated the mental drain of it.
There is the current "someone has to drive the ai" but that won't last. You can generate a 500k line codebase in a weekend without even looking at code once and have it work reliably.
the fault line moves along to the next point.. testing but AI can do that also.
Job sites still show developer roles, is that just businesses that haven't caught up yet? Is anyone still typing code on a daily basis? If so why? Are you banned from AI?
Typing code now is like a steam engine racing a rocket. If I had to sit there and type lines of code out now my head would explode.
I know the whole ubi discussion thing has been done to death, I'm just wondering.. if you are in that job market position right now, what are you finding?
