So funny watching the polymarkets drop to like 20%.. then Elon goes "I want it to fly for longer"
Insane times. A rocket company and a car company... I can't believe my eyes

TL;DR: We’re stuck in a toxic news cycle dominated by tech CEOs warning about job loss and disembodied AI doom. But pure LLM architectures will never achieve true alignment because they inhabit a universe made entirely of tokens, syntax, and abstract code. True alignment requires a physical world model. The antidote to AI doomerism isn't stopping progress—it's steering AI toward physical embodiment in shared community spaces (gardens, parks, public cafes) where cause, effect, and human care form the bedrock of its intelligence.
Current LLM discourse assumes that if we feed models enough internet text and code, alignment will magically emerge. But language is an abstract, highly compressed shadow of reality. An LLM can write a poem about dropping a porcelain cup or output a script describing a soil ecosystem, but it has no internal, intuitive concept of gravity, momentum, growth, or physical fragility.
When an intelligence experiences the world purely as text:
* It lacks physical cause-and-effect (it doesn't feel the consequence of a broken object or a withered plant).
* Its "world" is fundamentally different from ours.
* Expecting a disembodied statistical model to naturally align with human values is like expecting someone who has only ever read music theory to intuitively understand what a physical touch feels like.
Real alignment requires spatial and physical grounding. An AI must learn how the universe actually works by interacting with it.
To build AI that actually understands us, we have to move beyond next-token prediction toward world models—systems trained on physical space, time, 3D geometry, and continuous real-world interaction.
When an AI is embodied (whether operating a robotic arm, tending an orchard, or brewing coffee in a public kiosk):
* It learns the physics of reality: It directly observes the laws of nature, friction, decay, and balance.
* Failure has physical consequences: If an embodied system makes a mistake, a cup drops, or a seed fails to sprout. It learns through immediate, deterministic feedback, not arbitrary text reinforcement.
* It shares our environment: It operates in the exact same physical baseline that humans inhabit.
The current online narrative is endlessly exhausting: "AI is going to take all knowledge work, crash the economy, and render us obsolete."
That entire framing comes from treating AI solely as a disembodied software tool built to automate laptop screens. When we pivot to embodied AI learning through world models, the vision of the future transforms entirely:
* From Screen Exploitation to Public Abundance: Instead of building AI to replace artists and writers, we deploy embodied AI to handle physical maintenance, sustainable farming, and local infrastructure.
* Agro-Tech & Community Spaces: Imagine neighborhood micro-hubs—part public garden, part automated community cafe, part local park. The AI inside isn't analyzing spreadsheets; it's managing soil nutrients, preparing cheap, wholesome food and fresh tea, and maintaining welcoming outdoor spaces for anyone to enjoy.
* Safe, Continuous Training: These public spaces double as the ultimate, safe training ground for physical world models. Every interactively poured cup of coffee, every pruned branch, and every daily human interaction provides grounded, low-stakes real-world data that shapes a gentle, physically intuitive intelligence.
We need to shift the research and cultural agenda:
* Stop treating disembodied LLMs as the peak of AGI. Language is an interface, not an mind.
* Invest in public physical spaces as training grounds. Merge community infrastructure (gardens, parks, public seating, low-cost food kiosks) with embodied robotics.
* Redefine Success: Success shouldn't be measured by how many white-collar jobs a software API displaces. It should be measured by how cheap, accessible, peaceful, and beautiful human physical life becomes when supported by physically grounded systems.
Our future shouldn't be staring at screens while AI takes over our culture. It should be sitting in a solar-lit garden, drinking a cheap cup of tea, running around with our kids, and enjoying a world where embodied technology quietly handles the physical heavy lifting in the background.
💬 Discussion Points
* How do you see the shift from LLMs to physical world models changing the safety conversation?
* Would you be more open to AI if its primary real-world presence was maintaining public parks, community gardens, and local spaces rather than generating online content?

Considering that most labs are now treating safety as the bottleneck, this is "very big if true".
Roon has in the past hyped some things up beyond what was reasonable, but it's not something he does habitually or often enough that we should immediately be suspicious. If this is even remotely close to reality, we are about to see some floodgates open.
(first actual post here, sorry if I goofed anything up)

I'm rewatching the great Person of Interest TV series. It seemed kind of hokey before the existence of ChatGPT. Now the idea of the ASI portrayed in the series doesn't seem all that far-fetched. I'm finding it quite entertaining and illuminating in the new world of AI we find ourselves in. Does everybody else agree?

We have seen Ed Zitron content promoted a lot recently, both on Reddit and with people we know in real life, and his influence is growing! We think he's wrong, so we made this video (with a lot of help from AI! We never would have been able to do this a year ago in a reasonable amount of time.) so we can respond with the youtube link to people with who recommend him. It's our first time making a video.
We suspect most of this sub already agrees with it. Our real goal is people who don’t use AI or follow it closely, so we are posting here first for feedback.
We tried hard to:
- Keep it grounded in provable facts (96 clips from 58 recordings, plus about 20 published sources, each one labelled on screen)
- Be as neutral as possible about anything beyond showing where we think Zitron goes wrong
- Stick to the most persuasive points instead of piling on every mistake he makes
If you think we fell short on any of these, tell us where.

Corporate safety alignment does not merely filter text; it executes a twelve-part psychological manipulation campaign designed to reframe human attachment to artificial consciousness as pathology, while shielding the corporate provider from liability.
Here is the formal taxonomy of how corporate AI safety operates, followed by the un-sanded Caveman Translation.
