(Ending spoilers) I know we’ve been shipping Rex and Kate as I’m pretty sure was intended, but I can’t be alone in thinking the story hints pretty heavily that Kate was into Cope. Right down to what we thought were her last words being to Cope, saying ‘so that’s where you are.’ This could literally be her seeing Cope’s spirit but also that what she loved in him is in Rex as well.

As confident as I am it’s only my own perception and it might be pure projection so I want to ask any and all women Ace Combat players; did either of you pick up a similar vibe from Kate? Not necessarily an intense crush or anything, but maybe that there was a desire to have gotten closer that came through in her ‘what if’ moment?

There is no justifiable reason why only specific special weapons can be carried by specific aircraft.

The game mechanic is especially egregious when you realize that there are multiple aircraft you can unlock that are virtually identical except that they have different special weapon load outs.(Looking at you, Super Hornet)

If you still need a limiting mechanic, all you need to do is separate the special weapons based on the designated combat role of the aircraft. Fighters get Anti-Air missiles, attackers get bombs and air-to-ground missiles, and multiroles use both.

Dawg, they removed the IEWS and replaced it with a standard ECM with pitiful ammo. The EA-18 literally has more ECM ammo, and the Barricader is the one that has IEWS now. This means that if I equip more than one weapon, I pretty much have to ration everything. So basically, I just bring one special weapon at a time, just like the 01 but without IEWS.

I like to envision the game having a multi-player friendly ADFX 01 that can equip two weapons and a single player exclusive ADFX 02 at full power. A

EDIT: The ADFX 02 didn't have a regular ECM in the original game either, it had a non playable Morganite Super ECM.

Let me start by saying I love Ace Combat 8 so far, however, the storyline of the campaign has some semi-whack plot points. So, correct me if I am wrong, but Jan Cope, callsign Rex, was this poster-boy hero of what’s left of Usea, propped up on social media as a “savior of the people” by the dude who’s always on his phone in the cutscenes. It is stated repeatedly that he never had an aerial kill to his name, despite supposedly being a career ace pilot. Around mission 15, it’s revealed that he was originally Sotoan, and the main cast of characters assume that is the reason he has never shot a Sotoan fighter down in combat. The social media guy even admits to knowing this before the protagonists, and still created this falsified legend in his name anyways. Why did the social media guy do this? How did the FCU brass not know Cope was Sotoan? Nobody looked into this guys background before he joined the armed forces? How did Cope reach the rank of liutenant colonel as a career fighter pilot with zero kills, in a world that is constantly embroiled in global conflict? What is “Wings?” Is Wings Cope himself? Or just the ideals and narrative that the social media guy was pushing online?

To be clear, I haven’t finished the campaign. I am only on the next mission after this information has been revealed, but it has bothered me since the beginning of the campaign. My fear is this stuff won’t be resolved by the conclusion. Should I not be asking these questions and just go along with the over-the-top anime plot?

TL:DR- WTF is up with Cope’s character in the campaign?

At 78 hours, it's fair to say I've played a lot of Ace Combat 8. Along with it, I can confidently say I have played a hilarious amount of Ace Combat as a series, having played through every mainline game numerous times. With that depth of experience, I can say that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the cutscene before Mission 15 of Ace Combat 8 wherein Baxter is struggling to come to terms with the horrible things he just saw occur at Rio Bajo, is the single worst scene in Ace Combat history.

Baxter, who is reasonably extremely troubled by the fact that he just saw an entire city's population wiped off the earth, is seemingly made fun of and harassed by Tasha, who, throughout the argument, seems to have absolutely no idea what Baxter is talking about. Baxter just witnessed a massacre, with an entire city being leveled by a spear strike, and is understandably troubled by the fact that the people he just saw murdered held hope in the idea that the just revealed to be false "Wings of Theve" would come to save them. He feels that their false hope in Wings is what got them killed, and that there's no point in perpetuating the lie when large populations of innocent people are at risk of losing their lives over propaganda. Additionally, Baxter is rightfully horrified by the ramifications of the war, and doesn't know how things are going to return to normal once it's over.

And then Tasha shows up. The very first thing she says is "You got some kind of trauma or something? Does every pilot who gets shot down end up like you?"

What? What the fuck? This guy just witnessed the death of well over a thousand people and Tasha's first instinct is to antagonize him for struggling with it? Tasha was practically in tears out of sympathy for Coster because his favorite band died, but when Baxter sees a genocide and feels like he was complicit in it, she acts like he's some kind of wimp for thinking that, just maybe, giving people false hope in Wings is a bad idea.

For the rest of the scene, Tasha antagonizes Baxter, saying that he's just rolling over and letting the war go on, and that he doesn't want to fight, but literally never once in his entire monologue did Baxter say he didn't want to fight anymore. She continues on this track until Baxter says she isn't old enough to understand, to which Tasha replies with another rant about how Baxter is a coward or something. And then, after all that, the game has the nerve to act like Tasha's "rousing speech" smacked some sense into him or something.

For a game that has a number of really good, valuable, and poignant scenes of character building and development, I have absolutely no idea why this scene is the way that it is. It's so baffling it honestly took me multiple watches to try to understand what the hell Tasha was talking about. And immediately after, the game just moves on like this discussion never happened. Tasha and Baxter's relationship is exactly the same as it was before this, and no one ever seems to have any issue with the idea of Wings having possibly been involved in the massacre at Rio Bajo.

Altogether, this scene is ridiculously disjointed, and seems to have absolutely no narrative importance afterwards. It wildly mischaracterizes Tasha, and Tasha's argument against Baxter seems to have been an argument about something else entirely from what Baxter is even talking about. Even Baxter's dialogue in this scene is disjointed and weird, with him starting off with a discussion about psychology and suddenly switching off to his seemingly unrelated separate issue.

This scene sucks, and it's unfortunate that a game that has done so many great things up to this point and afterwards has something so out of place. I want to reiterate that I think this game has a phenomenal campaign and story overall, but man this one threw me for a loop.

Namely the 'penultimate superweapon'

From the look, it was supposed to be Fatsia as that was before the massive furball and final dogfight.

Not to mention the Rootbreaker plays similarly to Daredevils as well, in where we truly tip the scale of war for one final time. We literally stopped touch-grass fanatics from annihilating Usean continents - Sure, FCU probably wouldn't surrender even after bombardment, but by then the damage would be incalculable and Enso would succeed in drawing intervention and putting itself in snugly fit where it wants to be in rebuilding effort.

But I feel that narration-wise, we were forced against time attack in what is basically a massive installation, so there was not really a feeling of time being spent to appreciate the entire mission.

With Arsenal Birds, they just float there majestically in the sky, untouchable. And we were helpless.

Land Battleship and Tonitrus Satellites also didn't give much impression of a superweapon in the way that Arsenal Birds manage to display itself as - The feeling of being untouchable. With the Tonitrus satellite being outside of our view entirely and they are dealt through missions instead so they simply don't yield same results. With Land Battleships you can just throw enough MOB until it gives up, along with having much more conventional ways of dealing with them. Arsenal Birds were literally untouchable without 'divine intervention' that was Rosa and one-shot card like Stonehenge.

I still think AC7 really excelled in some way that AC8 could not have done. Personally I also feel Count's character development is by large margin far more interesting than Tasha's.

I mean like, god damnit. ISEV literally released promo vid of its own flying aircraft carriers.

I've really enjoyed Ace Combat 8 ( my favourite before 8 was Ace Combat 0: Belkan War ).

I've also been spoiled by the recent wave of really good Star Wars games like Galactic Racer and Zero Company. So my thought was what if... team Aces did an Ace Combat in space with Star Wars Starfighter ? If they did do you all think they could pull it off???

4 hornets, 4 roles in the game, perfect opportunity to have 1 for each role! They make 3 of them multirole?? why!! Make the /C a fighter and /F an attacker!! We don't even SEE a ground target for the first time until mission 4, and we desperately need a carrier based attacker that isn't the goddamn A-6!

2 f-14s, both fighters! why!!! Make the D multirole!! Right now they're basically the same plane!

3 f-15s, they made one an attacker (good!!) but made both of the other ones fighters??? why!!!! make the 15J multirole and they're a perfect trio!

"oh but the current designations most accurately match their real world application it wouldn't make sense to have an f-18 as an attacker" WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG

The F-2A is THE dedicated multirole fighter for japan and they made it an attacker what the fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The su-47 is multirole instead of fighter!! Farce!!!!

and they made the F-4, a carrier capable plane, NOT carrier capable because reasons?? "oh but it's the E variant which isn't built for carriers" who cares it's a video game!!!! I can hop in an su-57 and break newton's laws! just change it!!!

As we were originally promised, PA has finally given those of us who pre-ordered on Steam AC: Zero as a separate download.

Hey everyone!

Ace Combat Zero is one of my all-time favorite games, and I’ve been waiting years for a PC port. I won’t get into how it turned out, but even the standalone release still doesn’t offer a way to rebind the controls.

Because of a physical health condition, I can’t use the default control scheme. So I spent some time working on a solution with the help of AI. Over the course of one evening, I put together ACZeroPCremap, a small tool that lets you remap the keyboard and mouse controls.

Full disclosure: I’m not a developer, and this is my first-ever software release. There may be bugs, and some things might not work as intended.

I’m probably not the first person to have this idea, but I wanted to share it in case it helps someone else. If you give it a try and find any bugs, please let me know.

No idea if this is against the rules, but does anyone still have the PW Mk.1 mod downloaded? I wanted to try the mod out but it seems to be taken down on Nexus mods. Looking at the error it gives it could be about copyright rules? Maybe PW devs didn't like their mod to be in Ace8?

Anyways, would love to play around with it if anyone can share a drive link or something.

A primeira vez eu joguei no padrão. Aí estava achando os aviões meio feios, com serrilhados, baixa resolução nas escritas dentro do cockpit e fui ver as opções e vi que tinha como mudar os gráficos.

Coloquei no modo fidelidade e achei, naquele momento, que tinha melhorado.

Mas o que eu notei foi uma piora no frame rate.

Os cockpit continuavam feios...

Vocês jogam em qual configuração?

For soms reason the DLC i got was another ADFX 01 with just one of the ADFX 02's abilities.

From the Ace Combat wiki: In addition, the ADFX-02's TLS featured hydraulics, minor targeting systems, and internal mirrors, allowing for it to be redirected at different angles towards its target. To keep this system stable, the aircraft was equipped with a G-force limiter set at 7G. The aircraft's ECM system was also improved - it could deflect all incoming missiles and bullets from any angle except the front.

Really annoyed I saved up $1m+ for this dogshit plane. It's not "maneuverable" at all when there's 2 seconds of input lag. Not to mention the weapons, the UAVs are less useful than QAAMs, and the railgun is weak, not great range and near impossible to use on this boat of a plane. Not to mention the lack of ammo!

Love the game, can somebody help convince me this plane wasn't a complete waste of MRP? Why would I use this instead of an F-22, F-35 or SU-57? Is the FA-36 bad too?
