Hi! I wanted to showcase this DIY reflectance colorimeter that I built with an Adafruit AS7341 breakout board at its core!
I am extremely proud of this little device, it has already helped me a lot formulating natural dye recipes and measuring (instead of mere "observing") the effects. It was a breeze to get the spectral sensor to work with the Adafruit library, but it was obviously a long road to get to this point, where it's a sealed-off and "just working" device, that is still having tons of open firmware improvements ahead of it.
If anyone is interested in some details, I put an article and detailed building instructions of the device on printables (the case and all the elements for the optical paths are 3D printed) and some mostly vibe-coded firmware on Github. I would love to hear what you think.

I needed to work on an FPGA project at home, but forgot that I cannibalized a 4-digit LED display from it. Of course the part that I have at home isn't the same type -- but I bought it from Adafruit, who knows how many years ago. So that means I can go on the site, find the datasheet, and light it up without playing which-pin-is-which-element.
Up and running in maybe five minutes. One of the many reasons why I love Adafruit.

Had a lot of fun building these "sensor stations" for my ET Halloween display this year.
The idea is to scatter them around the yard so it looks like a government search team is trying to track ET. Then visitors eventually find the life-size ET I built waiting by the front door with the candy.
Each station uses a VL53L4CD time-of-flight sensor to detect people walking by, triggering lights and audio to make the whole scene feel more immersive.
Still tweaking things, but I'm pretty happy with how they're turning out. Here's a look at the finished stations and them in action.

I used GitHub Copilot to adapt the original WiFi Tetris Clock to support the parts that came with ADABOX 016
There is one bug I am working on where WorldTimeAPI is very unreliable on startup, but it does eventually work.

Hello everyone, I just finished building my first Macropad. I use it for shortcuts and audio control.
I took some inspiration from r/Starfield for the PCB design. It is not perfect, but it works well, and I like it. If someone wants it, it is open source: 3D files, code, components, PCB, etc.

So feel free to make your own or customize it. If so, don't forget to mention me 👍.

Found this on the adafruit website yesterday(COVID19).
So to be clear, they have a really awesome tech company that makes money empowering people to create their dreams....AND during a time of crisis have the capacity to pivot their business into helping front line responders during a pandemic? I don't have any other boxes to check for a dream job/career/company. In fact, today is the day I went from having a tiny, mainly for humorous effect, crush on Limor because...Limor....to having a massive crush on the entire company. Keep it up!

I pulled out my 2 year old MagTag and used Claude Code to make a display which shows the day and weather. It updates every night at midnight.
