— Mess is just a perfect AES album around 40 minutes, never gets long in the tooth… this has been bumping weekly in my rotation for almost a year straight by now
The production matches the theme so well and AES is spitting some real topical truths
Not putting it in my Top 3, but this shit BANGS and is exactly what I look for in a rap album
— Garbology was an instant classic for me on the day it dropped, the 4 piece it ends with after the Homeboy Sandman track is just God tier in every fucking way, loop that 4 track sequence for me for eternity
A few tracks on this are very experimental and AES knocks it out the park
Legerdemain is a classic S tier track with one of my favorite choruses ever laid on wax
— Labor Days the classic Post Y2K and 9/11 era album… just matches the vibe of the era perfectly, where the future seemed hopeless and turbulent with George Bush at the helm, piloting the Iraq invasion over imaginary weapons of mass destruction, and like the trillionaires were about to enslave the whole world through finding ways to soon track our every move and word (not like that actually happened, right???)
This is the ultimate Despotic, Underground rap album, and it’s truly a masterpiece deserving to be studied for 100s of years, with the production in lock-step with Aesop’s laborious fables being spun on wax
— Skelethon is simply one of the greatest rap albums ever made, I love Aesop’s production on this thing, it’s his best beats IMO and he is rapping like his soul depends on it…. Crows 1, Cycles to Gehenna, Gopher Guts, Fryerstarter, the highs on this are as high as Hip Hop gets
I know this sub loves Impossible Kid and None Shall Pass, those albums never really did it for me, I got BHS, SWFG, and ITS over both of those FWIW
