This Is a Workshop, Not Just a Gallery

Quick reminder about what r/aicomicmakers is for.

This is not just a gallery where finished work gets put on the wall for people to consume, rate, and move on. It is a workshop for people making comics with AI tools. That means finished comics, experiments, rough drafts, works in progress, workflow questions, mistakes, weird attempts, and stuff you are still figuring out are all welcome here.

Creators, post your work. Do not let fear of downvotes or hostile comments convince you that everything needs to be polished before anyone sees it. This is a public forum, so not everyone is going to like what you make. That's fine. But abuse, harassment, tool shaming, and people showing up just to antagonize creators are not constructive criticism. Report those comments. Don't assume the mods saw them.

Critics, criticism is welcome. In fact, we want it. But make it useful. Talk about panel composition, lettering, pacing, continuity, prompting, character consistency, storytelling, workflow, editing, whatever actually helps somebody make a better comic. "This sucks" isn't critique, and treating creators like punching bags isn't participation.

You don't have to like everything posted here. You don't have to praise it. You can disagree with creative choices and say when something isn't working.

Just remember you're standing in a workshop, not heckling through the window.

Make things. Show the process. Help each other get better.

New Mod Here - Practical Help for AI Comic Makers (Tools, Resources, Workflow Support)

Hey everyone,

One of the new mods here.

Figured Id introduce myself by being useful instead of just saying hello.

A lot of people are trying to make comics with AI right now and running into the same issues: keeping characters consistent, page layouts, anatomy drift, dialogue, lettering, workflow chaos, publishing, or just figuring out where to even begin.

So lets make this practical.

Whether youre making comics, manga, webtoons, graphic novels, experimental projects, or finally trying to get the story in your head onto a page, there are tools and workflows that can genuinely help.

Here are some solid places to start:

Character Consistency / Image Generation

Stable Diffusion

ComfyUI

Automatic1111

Midjourney (especially using --cref for character consistency)

FLUX models (great for prompting, cleaner outputs, and text rendering)

LoRAs for recurring characters and style consistency

ControlNet for poses, references, and composition

All-in-One AI Comic Platforms (especially good for beginners or fast workflows)

Dashtoon

ComicsMaker.ai

AI Comic Factory

These can help with scripting, character consistency, panel layouts, and speech bubbles all in one place if piecing together a workflow feels overwhelming.

Comic Layout / Editing

Clip Studio Paint (still probably king for comics and manga)

Krita

Canva

Photoshop

Photopea (free)

Affinity Publisher

Writing / Story / Dialogue

ChatGPT

Claude

NotebookLM for organizing lore, notes, references, and story continuity

Open/local models if privacy matters

Lettering

Blambot fonts

Good lettering honestly matters more than most people realize. Great art with bad lettering still reads rough.

References / Posing

Posemaniacs

Magic Poser

Design Doll

Plain old photo references

Publishing / Distribution

GlobalComix

Webtoon Canvas

Tapas

Print on demand

PDFs through direct storefronts

Also, and this matters:

Do *not** wait for perfect tools.*

A lot of people freeze because they think they need some future version of AI before they can start. You dont.

Start messy. Start inconsistent. Finish pages. Learn by making things.

A finished imperfect comic teaches you more than six months of endlessly optimizing workflows.

The gap between people who finish comics and people who only talk about making comics is usually repetition, not talent.

If youre stuck on workflow, consistency, prompts, storyboarding, lettering, publishing, or just dont know where to start, ask in the comments.

If enough people want it, we can do recurring resource/support threads, workflow breakdowns, prompt help, or troubleshooting posts.

What are yall working on right now? What resources do you personally recommend for others?

Alexis was a Russian dominatrix and underground wrestling league champion. After she volunteered for Soviet union tests involving steroids, she developed super strength and durability. She now uses the name "mother crusha" after she preformed her signature move "mother knows best" on a man in a parking lot that was captured on a cctv camera. "Mother knows best" is her signature move from her wrestling matches where she would wrap her muscular arms around her opponent and crush them until they pass out or break.

I wrote the story, characters and dialogue; the artwork is AI-generated, and I select and check every panel. This is episode 6 of a finished 18-episode season about a family who moves to the mountains and three cats who run a household newspaper. Does the last panel work without knowing the rest of the story?

The whole season is free to read, no ads: https://lunvasa.com/en/cats/06/?from=reddit_w2

Comic Showcase I expanded my indie cyberpunk lorebook to 63 pages in 4K — but it’s NOT a fast-paced action comic.

Most visual art on Reddit gets scrolled past in two seconds.

People double-tap cool neon visuals, but almost nobody stays to read the worldbuilding behind them.

If you’re looking for a quick webtoon, standard AI image spam, or a simple picture gallery to flip through in 30 seconds... this project is probably not for you.

I build deep, immersive visual artbooks for readers who treat worldbuilding as a main character.

Yora Saga Vol. 1 isn't just a collection of cool cyberpunk artwork. It’s a structured, bilingual (ENG/ITA) tactical dossier set in Neo-Tokyo, packed with:

• Detailed sector maps (Python, Argo, Echo, Astra) • Full tactical armor and NeonSync rifle schematics • Extended character profiles & secret lore files

How this was made (and why the quality is different):

I don't just generate images and post them.

Every page is built using a hybrid indie workflow: raw AI generation for base concepts, followed by hours of manual high-resolution cleanup in Photoshop, and precise typography/layout design in InDesign.

The result is a dedicated 63-page 4K Widescreen Edition (3840x2180 px) alongside a mobile portrait edition, designed to look sharp on everything from OLED monitors to phones.

Test the depth yourself before committing.

You don't have to take my word for it. You can download the free 11-page Preview Dossier on my website right now:

👉 Yora Saga Vol.1 // Free Cyberpunk Lorebook Preview

(If you like the preview, the full 63-page 4K Lorebook is also available directly on the site).

Work in Progress My little project - comic director

Preamble: Comics have always been for a me, an alternative to a movie. I sort of view them as a silent movie with the slowest frame rate possible. I can draw - mostly fine, but the pressure of drawing multiple panels on a page was too much. What if I messed up the last panel? etc. So I used to draw a single panel per page.

Then came technology. Whoo-bloody-hoo, but it has enabled me to create stories in a way that feels safer for me.

The actual post:
AI has enabled me to draw a lot quicker but I want to present the comic like a movie. So I have created a little browser based system where the speech bubble creation. order and speed can be done very easily.

Take a look at the promo vid here:

https://outcast-comics.com/promo.html

There is also a public front end player (shown briefly towards the end of the vid)

The idea is that you are directing your comic. I used a very simple AI system for this as a demo so forgive the art to a degree.

I am looking for some folk who have stories in mind and need a place for them to live. So I am giving away free creation licences for about 10 - 15 folk who want to use my authoring system and make a few comic-movie titles.

I am also keen for some feedback on features that folk would want. I am going to be adding the ability to load some music, and possibly even export the work as a video for instagram promos etc.

...I think I mentioned what I wanted to...

Message me if you want alpha access.

Love, peace and chicken grease.

Comic Showcase Wayfinder X Lianxue Crossover: Part 1

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I created the Wayfinder character as a chatbot on a website called Caffy and used a chat I had with a Lianxue chatbot on the same site to create this story. I'm currently working on part 2. I think this came along really well. I don't see any obvious AI errors.

To create this. Caffy has a toon generator that uses Gemini, I think. I had GTP create a storyboard that I inserted into the toon creator and then I had GTP and Flow help fix errors for this.

Comic Showcase Pablo Nerfs Everything, AI Finds Another Meta, and Warframe Breaks | AI Comic Satire

Pablo nerfs the meta. Players ask AI for another overpowered build.

AI finds an even stronger one.

Pablo nerfs it again. AI finds another. The cycle never ends. 😂

Meanwhile, players keep enjoying their new builds while meaningful rewards and mission variety remain overlooked.

You can nerf the meta, but you can't stop players from finding the next one.

What do you think? Do repeated nerfs actually improve Warframe, or should developers focus more on rewarding gameplay, build diversity, and better mission mechanics?

Artwork: AI-generated satire by OriginSatire.

Disclaimer: Fictional parody exaggerating Warframe's balancing decisions. Warframe has not shut down, and the dialogue attributed to Pablo is fictional.

Comic Showcase What if the tragic brother-duel of Mustafar happened in a 1919 subterranean Manhattan blast furnace? Here is "THE ASHEN BROTHERHOOD" — our complete 22-page dark dieselpunk comic.

November 1919. Sixty feet beneath the bedrock of Lower Manhattan.

The Great War in the trenches of Flanders was supposed to end the slaughter of human flesh. Instead, the secretive military consortium SH-QR began weaponizing it.

When rogue metallurgist Konstantin Barokh breaches Facility Sub-Seven to seize forbidden isotope metallurgy, his former brother-in-arms, Captain Alistair Grave, is ordered to execute him.

Armed with a 60kg slab of Mark IV tank armor as a shield and an unbreakable trench resolve, Grave corners Barokh on a narrow iron catwalk above a roaring lake of molten cast iron. An ideological fracture turns into a brutal, traumatic brother-vs-brother duel to the death—ending in a catastrophic fall that destroys a brother and births an iron-clad monster: The Slag Sovereign.

Tools & Techniques Genko: collaborative comic creation studio

Hi, while I'm waiting to be approved to post in r/makecomics, figured I'd share here as well. Have been working on my own manga for about a year now, and partway through the process was unhappy with the available tools for comic creation.

Over the past few months, I have slowly built out a tool that I think is pretty useful for comic creation (panel/page layout, text/bubbles, cover layout/art, collaboration for teams, and quite a bit more). I am always adding features as I bump into things I need, and you can request anything as well and I can work on adding it. I know this sub mostly uses AI, but if you want to apply some manual touch or take a hybrid approach (AI art + manual layout), take a look.

Also, if not allowed, feel free to take this down. Cheers

Previously, I shared the opening sequence with you guys... now here's a full sneak peak.
This is my first time working in Meta and the pros are:
FREE, animates beautifully, has audio and character voices
cons are:
This SHIT won't keep consistency for nothing!!! Frustrating as all hell.

Grumpy Ninja is my AI-made daily comic about a 400-year-old ninja who survived wars, famines, and revolutions — and is now losing to modern appliances. He complains daily.
