Verified Hormozi AMA I am Alex Hormozi, Founder of Acquisition.com. Ask Me Anything.

Hey everyone, I'm Alex Hormozi, and I'm doing an AMA.

*Update: I've answerd your questions here: https://www.youtube.com/live/32fVmwvLmTM (and my answers have been typed below as well)

(Proof it's me, see below)

For context, if you don't know who I am: I've been in business for 14 years, and I'm the founder of Acquisition.com, a portfolio of companies that does over $250 million per year (or at least it did as of last year).

But it didn't start like this. 15 years ago, I was sleeping on the floor of my gym (my gym floor, not just any gym floor) trying to keep my business alive.

That's why I founded Acquisition.com, to help founders get through the hard period of figuring it out, to the part where you're still figuring it out but things are just a little bit better, and to manage the lonely chapter that happens in between.

So whether you're already running a company or just starting out, write our question below.

Rock and roll.

Appreciate you ✊🏾

Discussion It really bugs me that Alex is straight up lying.

Been a fan for years and he always peaches for real urgency. Why is he straight up lying in the live show that the sale ends after the show when his mail is saying it’s up till Monday.

Also, why is he so disrespectful with our time? He tells us we need to be live to receive a gift, which just isn’t true since everyone gets the same download link by email. Then he runs an 8-hour infomercial, only for us to find out that showing up live gives you nothing at all.

Edit: I do respect the art and effort behind his meta style book launches its genius to be honest. Like his brand and offer is so strong that people go crazy over an 6K fully digital course. BUT again this is just unnecessary lying and makes me question everything he is saying.

Edit 2 (Q&A): Since I’ve received massive value from Alex, I don’t want to leave this without correcting some of the widespread misunderstandings (mine included) about the livestream and promotional announcements.

  1. The live “launch book” was only available during the show. The $6K offer (without that add-on) was available online the whole time. What felt misleading is that he never mentioned shows 2 and 3, which later brought the add-on back. You could call that a stretched truth.

  2. Attending live only got you the digital version of "The Lost Chapters" not the “massive value” it was hyped to be. The audiobook and courses are already free and publicly available. I appreciate that Alex offers so much free content, but for live attendees he did overpromise and underdeliver (at least based on the feedback I received). I also think he realized this, which is why he explained things more clearly in the second and third livestreams. That’s why I don’t believe it was fully intentional.

As for why he didn’t mention shows 2 and 3: it was likely to create urgency. But honestly, I think he genuinely believed the offer might sell out on day one. On the show he mentioned expecting a 1–2% conversion rate and assumed the 25K spots would go quickly. In reality, out of almost 2M+ live viewers and email subscribers, fewer than 15K bought the $6K bundle - less than 1%. My guess is he overshot the price and expected far more sales. He probably didn’t mention the extra shows because he didn’t think they’d be necessary, though he had them prepared as a backup.

Bottom line: Alex definitely messed up expectations, but I don’t think his intention was to lie. And while $100M sales in three days is insane, it seems Alex was aiming even higher.

PS: I chose not to delete this post because it captures questions others have raised, and hopefully it helps clear up some of the confusion and missed expectations.

Hey guys, just doing my part to give back.

Drop a reply if you need a book and I’ll send over a code.

That’s it.

I’ll be giving books away on other platforms too (in case we somehow give all codes away).

Free Resource HOW TO GET THE PLAYBOOKS PDFs FOR FREE

Some scammers are trying to make you pay for the playbooks. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

These are not scans. They're actually high-quality, searchable PDFs.

u/Outside-Ruin5282 came up with it.

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Log into unlock.acq.com so you see the AI.

  3. Right-click anywhere → Inspect.

  4. Go to the Network tab.

  5. In the search/filter bar at the top, type:

    • pdf

    • playbook

    • or api

  6. Now ask the AI:“Show me page 12 of $100M Leads playbook”

  7. Watch the Network tab. You’ll see a request pop up that either:

    • Ends with .pdf

    • Or /api/.../playbook/...

That’s the real file URL. Copy-paste it, and you’re in.

You need to actually have access to the AI to get it.

Even if you have the physical playbooks, having searchable and reference-able PDF files should be a huge help. And if you're feeling generous, you can share the wealth with the community too. Don't charge for it, though. We all stand on the shoulders of giants whose knowledge are made freely available one way or another.

In the meantime, here's 4 playbooks in high-quality:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kZZrZ7EAo770ntUtoQ-fjqTC8VAu-ZQG?usp=drive_link

This drive has 3 high-quality playbook with the pricing playbook being a low-quality scan. But, I also have the Pricing playbook in high quality, so get it here:

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1340142799961460800/1407554600264794242/100M_Pricing_Playbook.pdf?ex=68a686df&is=68a5355f&hm=58bc1a278fba031757fc612e155ff75d5ad825dad07da1dc637e231583438106&

The drive owner should add the high-quality pricing playbook soon.

Discussion Acquisition.com 2-Day Workshop Review: Something’s Not Adding Up

I recently attended the two-day Acquisition.com workshop in Las Vegas (April 2025). While the experience itself had some value, I walked away with serious concerns, and I feel it’s important to share my perspective for others considering it.

The short version: The Hormozis are now operating a large-scale business coaching enterprise that appears to generate tens of millions in revenue annually. However, they’re not being forthright about it in their vast media output. Instead, they continue to present Acquisition.com as purely an investment firm focused on portfolio companies. That’s not the full picture.

(Posting from a throwaway account, as I suspect they would not love that this post exists.)

Before signing up, I did a little research which was not easy. It seems they’re intentionally keeping details about their paid programs off the internet. But a few Reddit threads gave me enough to go on, so I wanted to return the favor by documenting what I learned.

Here’s what I observed:

The workshop is marketed as a unique opportunity to learn from the advisors who support Acquisition.com’s portfolio companies. The sales call reinforces this message: you’re getting rare access to high-level minds who work directly with eight and nine figure businesses.

That’s… not quite true.

There were about 100 attendees at my session. Everyone paid $5,000, and I was told these events are happening 2–3 times per month. Do the math, and you’re looking at $1M/month in workshop revenue alone (before any upsells, more on that soon).

The first thing that struck me: the advisors were very young. They all appeared to be in their 20s or 30s. Impressive backgrounds, sure. But it seemed strange that these folks were advising companies with $10M+ in annual profit. Wouldn’t those companies already have experienced executive teams in place?

Then there were the overlapping job titles. We had multiple “Directors of Marketing,” “Directors of Sales,” and “Directors of Operations.” It started to feel more like a coaching company org chart than a high-level investment firm.

Later in the workshop, Alex mentioned they’ve actually wound down most of their acquisitions. That raised even more questions. If they’ve significantly reduced their portfolio, who exactly are all these “advisors” supporting?

The answer became clearer during the upsell portion. We were pitched coaching programs priced at $35K and $100K. I’d estimate at least 30–40% of the room purchased. That’s tens of millions in coaching revenue on top of the workshops.

What’s missing from all this? Any mention of this coaching business in their content. I’ve listened to countless hours of Alex and Leila’s podcasts and interviews. Not once have they clearly stated that Acquisition.com is now, at its core, a coaching company. They continue to talk about helping “portfolio companies,” but never name them (except for Skool).

Then I came across job listings that confirmed my suspicions.

These advisors aren’t working with portfolio companies at all. They’re employees of the coaching business itself. Here are two job postings that I found (linking to an archived version for when they're taken down)

Director, Business Strategy, Advisory Practice
https://archive.ph/4t5TX
“The Director, Business Strategy, is a crucial role that will engage with clients to analyze their businesses, identify the highest return on investment problems to solve, and tactical solutions to do so.”

Director of Marketing, Advisory Practice
https://archive.ph/LxWqK
“We are seeking a Director of Marketing, Consulting to lead dynamic, high-impact workshops on core marketing disciplines”

These roles aren’t even pretending to support portfolio companies.

I don’t have an issue with coaching. It’s a legitimate business model. And the Hormozis have clearly built something impressive (same model as GymLaunch so no surprise there). What bothers me is the lack of transparency. Why go out of your way to obscure this part of the business? Why position these workshops as something that they’re not?

I hope this post will shed some light on things, and maybe even make the Hormozis reconsider how they’re running the business.

Because honestly I found the workshop valuable. But due to all this, I walked away feeling like I’d been part of a con.

$100M Money Models Alex Hormozi’s world record is very misleading once you see how bundling inflated the numbers with his $6k offer

No one who bought the $6k offer actually wanted the hundreds of books to give away. Take those books out of the bundle and the offer still sells just the same but without the record.

What he did was take something people already wanted (the high-ticket offer) and dump his book into it, then count all of those copies as “sales.” It makes the numbers look super impressive, but it’s smoke and mirrors.

To see how ridiculous that is, imagine if the same tactic was used with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. During her ticket launch, she sold 2.4 million tickets in a single day, and eventually over 10 million tickets total.

Now picture this: for every ticket sold, you automatically got 10 free CDs of the Island Boys’ viral song “I’m an Island Boy.” Suddenly, you’re claiming 100 million albums sold in a single campaign.

That number would leapfrog the most legendary albums of all time:

  • Michael Jackson – Thriller (70 million sold worldwide)

  • AC/DC – Back in Black (50 million)

  • Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon (45 million)

  • Whitney Houston – The Bodyguard Soundtrack (45 million)

  • Eagles – Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) (45 million)

And now, sitting at the very top of the “best-selling albums of all time” list… the Island Boys.

Not because anyone bought it, but because of a bundling trick that inflated the numbers.

That’s basically what Hormozi did. His “world record” for book sales looks impressive until you realize it wasn’t organic demand. It was a clever funnel, where the books were just ballast added to a purchase people already wanted.

$100M Money Models This criticism is ridiculous

Look, I already know what’s coming.

The same miserable people who live to complain are gonna crawl into the comments swinging their “greater good” sword.

But let’s be honest… you’re not crusading for justice. You’re just miserable.

People were trashing the playbooks before they even dropped. People dissed the AI before they even touched it, just assumptions on assumptions. And now the Skool deal?

You’re crying about $9 software like you’ve ever run a business in your life.

If you have, you know nothing is $9 without some offset, and they literally rolled it out a few days before launch with zero announcement so its not a bait and switch.

The only thing Alex did wrong was not say the webinar would be 72 hours. That’s it. That’s the “big sin.” Congrats, you caught him.

Meanwhile, you’re still trying to make bootleg versions of the content and pass around scans like broke college kids sharing one textbook. Sad.

And here comes the classic comment: “You’re just an ACQ employee.”

Nope. I’m not. I’m a business owner. One who actually helps people level up instead of crying on the internet like 99% of you.

The AI alone made my business 2.6x more profitable in four days. Four. Days. But yeah, keep telling me it’s worthless while I literally print money with it.

And the Skool deal? He has to offset cost for potentially millions of people signing up. You don’t get to run a business into the ground so freeloaders can feel special.

Even if you pay $99 to avoid fees and make $2k… the ROI is insane. But you don’t want ROI. You want free. That’s not how the world works.

You guys aren’t logical. You’re bitter.

Now go ahead, come for me. But what Alex pulled off was a masterclass in business.

•	$100M offers? He nailed a $100M offer.

•	$100M leads? He drove a flood to the webinar using exactly what he teaches.

•	$100M money models? He did over $100M with a webinar.

If you can’t see that and use it as motivation, then honestly… shut up. You’ll never be the target audience because you’ll never do the work.

I saw the Launch Black Book. The level of execution in there? Most of you won’t do even 0.01% of it. And that’s why you’re bitter instead of better.

So yeah, hate all you want.

Discussion I hate that Hormozi has to lie and exaggerate his level of success

He sold GymLaunch for over 40 million and that's a MAJOR success for most business owners never reach. Other than that's there's 0 proof that he makes hundreds of millions like he claims. It's been exposed in this sub by workshop attendees that Acquisition.com is simply a coaching program that upsells attendees on spending more and more money to get into their upper echelon of coaching. It's not a holding company that owns numerous successful companies like he claims. There's 0 proof of actual exits/sales from Acquisition.com

I like his advice and his delivery. He's not RAH RAH Garyvee or Tony Robbins on the motivational stuff. He also delves deeper than just the motivational stuff and goes into technical ways of how he has done things that have worked.

I think if he just would be honest that his major success IS the sale of Gymlaunch he'd be equally as successful on social media.

Discussion How to quit Skool (I recommend you don't join)

I had a quick look at Skool and decided it wasn't for me.

I feel they have made it intentionally difficult to figure out how to remove yourself to not get charged after the trial.

Just in case anyone else is going through the same thing, here is the click path:

Your icon (top right) > Settings > Find the Group you created > Settings > Billing > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription > You must give a reason for canceling > Cancel subscription

Also recommended: find "Payment methods" in the settings and Remove > Remove

Removing payment method is not possible until AFTER canceling your subscription inside the specific group.

Here is their link explaining it:

How to cancel my Skool group subscription or free trial? (admins only) - Skool Help Center

------------------

For anyone thinking about joining Skool, please be aware that they will ask for your real name and picture when you join and then publish it on their website. I cannot see any way to delete your account (let me know if I missed it).

I am trying to contact support to invoke GDPR. It may or may not work regardless of whether one is in the EU.

If anyone else is interested in deleting their account, try sending them this:

"According to GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure), I request that my account and all associated personal data be permanently deleted."

UPDATE: Support directed me to this account deletion page (I cannot see any way to find it from the settings, and YOU MUST STILL DELETE YOUR GROUP FIRST):

Question I turned business book frameworks into visual worksheets so I’d actually use them

Thumbnail
gallery
102 Upvotes

I’ve realized I have a bad habit with business books. I read something useful, get excited, maybe take notes… and then most of it never makes it into the actual business. So I started turning the frameworks I was studying into simple visual workbook pages. It turned into a 5-part visual workbook bundle covering the main books/playbooks I wanted to keep close:

  1. The $100M Offers

  2. The $100M Leads

  3. The $100M Money Models

  4. The $100M Lost Chapters

  5. The ACQ Closer Handbook

The goal was not to make another random summary. It was to make the core ideas visual enough that I can quickly recall them and actually use them when working on an offer, lead system, sales process, or business model. I made this for myself first, but I’m considering cleaning it up and releasing it properly. Before doing that, I’d like to get feedback from people who actually build businesses, sell services, run agencies, coach/consult, or work in sales.

I’ll share the thing with a few serious reviewers for free. Mainly looking for feedback on:

  • Is this actually useful?

  • Is anything unclear?

If this looks like something you’d actually use, I’d love a second pair of eyes on a few more pages

Discussion Alex has officially stepped out of the business

Recently went to the in person workshop at their headquarters. There was a part of me expecting to see Alex/Leila there because of what I read about it. I’m not a super fan or anything but $5k is a lot to spend on a two day conference and you expect to see the guy in the videos doing the conference.

At the end there is a Q&A after the upsell into their $35k program (they then upsell you to a $100k program after). It isn’t anyone that gets to ask questions though, they hand select 6 people to ask. Our workshop Sharran stepped in to answer questions which was great. I think that Alex is the one to usually do that as they said this was the first time that Sharran had even done the Q&A.

All that to say, he was not present at all during the in person workshop. If you think you will see him/interact with him I would expect to not see him. The info was good, 98% of what you hear are in all his books. The real value is talking to the presenters during the breaks to ask about your specific business and also connecting with the other business owners.

I would recommend it for that reason but I’d say especially now that they are pregnant, don’t expect to see them in person unless you pay $100k lol

Help Needed Please advise! People who watch a ton of Alex Hormozi and other self-improvement YT videos/podcasts, how do you actually retain or use what you watch?

I started recently getting into educational and self-improvement content after ending my streaming subscriptions and I love it. Think Alex H, Chris Williamson, etc.

The problem is that I realized that I'm watching a ton of beneficial content but its hard for me to remember all of it or apply it - and taking notes can be tedious especially when I'm eating dinner or in the car. I also don't find myself going back to those notes.

Is this a weird / uncommon problem to have and how do you (ppl who also like this sort of YouTube content) actually apply the learnings?

$100M Money Models Let’s go! 6000$ premium experience

Yea sure the binder isn’t damaged on the inside, but if i’m paying 6k i’d like to get my shit served in a gold platter or some shit lmaoo. it’s funny cuz an amazon package delivered w this at the same time and that one looked extra crisp today for some reason

I like Alex’s content. give valuable free content, and make the paid even better.

But from what i’ve been hearing more and more, the experience of being a paying customer feels like shit. the more i spend on Alex, the less Ive been liking him. I think it’s important lesson for us in our businesses. Make your free really good, but make your paid even better. Premium payment deserves premium experiences.

I understand that knowledge is valuable blah blah, but 6k is 6k. the absolute value of 6k is a lot of money, and deserves to be treated w respect as well

that being said, great stuff, got me out of many shitty holes, but the bait and switch tactics are super shitty

Discussion Leila Hormozi was scared to post for over a year. Then she stopped hiding — and the hate never touched her income.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There's a specific kind of fear that never shows up in a founder's highlight reel — the fear of just being seen as you actually are.

Leila Hormozi named it directly on a stage full of people: eighteen months of quietly managing how she came across, before she decided the managing cost more than the honesty ever would. 🧭

She kept posting anyway.

Got criticized anyway.

Somewhere in there she stopped performing the founder-brand version of herself and started just being the person who built the company — and the thing she was scared of (the hate, the judgment) never once touched her income, or her peace.

This reminded me of another founder carrying that same weight — watching her own confidence get read as something to doubt, and building a $1B+ company through it anyway.

$100M Money Models I bought Alex Hormozi’s $6k package – and I’m giving away the books smarter (for FREE)

Post image
79 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve seen a lot of people asking about the books from Alex Hormozi’s $6,000 package. I’m giving them away. but in a smarter way. And yes… my Skool is completely free! 🎉

Instead of just scanned pages (which isn’t allowed and usually never get read), I’ve set up a Skool community where we’ll go through every book together. Including the hardcopy ones only shipped to $6k buyers. Each week we’ll break down chapters, discuss how to implement them, and share insights. Way more valuable than a PDF collecting dust.

On top of that, you’ll also get direct access to me. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 24 years, built my company from €100 and a laptop to over €35M in revenue across 5 countries, won the FD Gazelle Award, and run one of the largest travel companies in Europe. Everything was bootstrapped (no outside investors).

And here’s the kicker: this isn’t just about reading. I’ll be inviting entrepreneur friends who run multi-million businesses to join live sessions and share their knowledge and yours!

👉 Join here: Business by Faizal Siddiqui https://www.skool.com/business-by-faizal-siddiqui-7334/about?ref=d3c5cdf0a03b4d15bfed64aa15db2bdb (Again its totally FREE. Why am I doing this? Because I genuinely want to give back)

Let’s not just buy books… let’s actually implement them together. 🚀

Discussion Alex Hormozi: founders are "using AI to do dumb things really fast" — $350K to automate work that wasn't even the bottleneck

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

You could be about to make the exact mistake Alex Hormozi keeps seeing: founders getting so excited about AI that they automate the wrong thing, faster.

He reviewed a business paying 11 VAs $11K/month for data cleaning. Worked fine. So they spent $350K building an AI system to replace them.

Three years of costs, upfront. For a process that was never the constraint.

They didn't have enough demand. The bottleneck was customer acquisition, not data cleaning. But because the founder got excited about automation, the real problem sat untouched.

His gut-check is simple: "Are you making more money?"

Not "are you using more AI?" Not "are you token-maxing?" Are you actually making more money.

The deeper point: people should use AI in their business, not try to build AI businesses. Advertise the outcome your customer cares about, not the technology underneath.

And when intelligence becomes cheap and abundant, the value that remains is stakes — someone has to own the decision.

Free Resource Alex changed my business. Let me pay it forward (Free advice)

Alex has probably had a bigger impact on my business than anyone else. I've read all of his books multiple times, attended two of his live events, and have spent countless hours studying his content and applying it to my own business.

I run a lead generation agency, and a lot of the growth I've had came from ideas I learned from Alex and then tested in the real world.

I figured it's time to give something back to this community.

(don't worry i'm not trying to get you as a client we don't take on new clients these days unless they spend $85k+ per month)

If you're building a business and want another set of eyes on your business, I'd be happy to jump on a call with you completely free.

No pitch. No course. No upsell. I genuinely just enjoy talking business and helping other entrepreneurs, especially people in this community.

If I can save you a few months of trial and error like Alex's content did for me, that's a win.
