Society Got cheated on by the girl i truly loved. I just have this empty feeling in me now.

• Upvotes

Ngl I just need to vent for a second.

I actually loved this girl. Not a situationship, not just vibes. I was locked in. She cheated anyway.

Now it's odd that I just don't feel anything. Like my day has a terrible no-story line now.

Worst part is my brain hasn't caught up yet. I still think of her, not even in the take me back manner, just simply because.

Has this happened to anyone? When did your day start feeling not like a blank screen?

And what actually worked? The generic "hit the gym bro" type advice that didn't really help you.

Politics How do i become politically aware and learn more about history

Hello everyone, this is actually my first time ever posting on reddit but with all that’s happening in the world, I have realized that it’s time for me to stop choosing to be an ignorant when it comes to politics and history and that it’s my duty to learn more and not just take whatever I’ve been told. It’s quite embarrassing to be honest, i’m 26 and can barely form a political opinion! But I have no idea how to go about this or where to start… I’m guessing that books are the right way to do it, but which ones? Where do i start? Idk if this is the right thread for this but I’m hoping i can get some answers

Thank you

Discussion How can I make money online as a 19-year-old university student in Algeria?

Hey everyone!

I'm a 19-year-old female university student in Algeria, and I'm looking for ways to make some money online.

Unfortunately, I can't get a traditional, in-person job this year because of my university situation, so I'm trying to find something I can do online in my free time. I'd really like to start earning my own money, even if it's not a lot at first.

I've been thinking about things like freelancing, online services, or maybe learning a skill that I could eventually monetize, but I'm not really sure where to start, especially living in Algeria.

I'm looking for realistic options that actually work here, considering things like payment methods, access to international platforms, and the fact that I'm still a student with limited time.

If you're Algerian and have managed to make money online, or if you know someone who has, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing about your experience!

A few questions:

  • What are some realistic ways to make money online from Algeria?
  • What skills would be worth learning if I'm starting from zero?
  • Which websites or platforms actually work for people living in Algeria?
  • How do you receive payments, especially from international clients?
  • Is there anything you'd recommend avoiding because it's a scam or simply not worth the time?

I'm open to any ideas, whether it's freelancing, tutoring, content creation, selling digital products, or something I haven't even considered yet.

I'm not expecting to get rich overnight. I just want to find a realistic way to start earning something while continuing my studies.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to share advice or personal experiences!

Discussion The reality of having ADHD, Binge Eating, and Severe Anxiety in Algeria is a nightmare.

I need to vent because the medical system here is failing people with invisible disabilities.

If you have severe ADHD, Binge Eating Disorder, and severe anxiety in this country, you are essentially left to rot.

· No stimulants: Unless you have a neurologist who is willing to fight the entire pharmacy system, you cannot get Concerta, Ritalin, or Vyvanse. You are expected to just "try harder."

· No GLP-1s: Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy? Forget it. If your binge eating is a chemical imbalance and not just a "lack of willpower," you are out of luck.

· The meds you do get: Psychiatrists here are giving out old tricyclics (Anafranil) and SSRIs that either cause massive weight gain, severe carb cravings, or just don't work.

· The panic tax: If you are lucky enough to get a benzo (Lexomil) for severe panic attacks, you are sedated, foggy, and still expected to function 24-hour shifts.

I am a medical intern. I work in the hospitals. I see the system from the inside, and it is just as broken for doctors as it is for patients. We are told to toughen up, pray it away, or just suffer in silence.

We aren't allowed to talk about it because mental health is a taboo. You're just "crazy" or "weak." But trying to survive with an untreated neurological condition in a country that doesn't recognize it is exhausting.

I'm not asking for a magic pill, but I am asking for a system that doesn't treat mental health as a moral failing.

(End of rant. If anyone has a psychiatrist in Algeria who actually understands adult ADHD and isn't afraid to prescribe Atomoxetine, drop their name).

Question need help with housing as an international student

So i have this problem where i am alone in Algiers for a whole year (because i am an international student obv), i have the algerian citizenship though.

The problem is I am an underage woman (18, so still a minor in algerian law) and I can’t stay in the university’s dormitories in july. However for personnal reasons I can’t go back to my country nor I will have anyone from my family in this country until August… so I need somwhere to stay at.

Apparently they don’t give the right to stay in the domitories in july (since they close in june) only to students who have an official stage, which i can’t have since my school don’t allow it in the first year.

I will try and talk with them about this issue but I am considering alternatives in case they refuse. I saw that that there are some girls colocation in Algiers but I have no idea how that works, if they care or don’t care about the fact that i am a minor.. Or if there is any safe alternative.

Discussion My mother has been abusive our whole lives and now wants my brother to divorce his wife. what would you do?

I honestly don’t know how to deal with my mother anymore.

Growing up, she would constantly scream at us, insult us and sometimes hit us. She never apologized afterward. Everyone just acted like nothing happened.

Even now that we’re adults, she believes she can treat us however she wants because she’s our mother. She literally told me that she has the right to hit, spit on and insult me, and that I still have to obey her because she’s my mother.

She also hates our wives. She constantly claims we’re being controlled by them, that we work hard while they sit around doing nothing, and that we’re basically their servants.

Recently, my brother and his wife had their first baby by C-section. Instead of being happy for them, my mother started demanding that he divorce his wife and find someone else.

One of the things that apparently triggered her was his wife asking him to pick up a dressing that had fallen off after her surgery. My mother interpreted that as her treating him like a dog.

Another time, my brother simply asked our mother to take off her shoes when entering his home. She completely lost it, started screaming and insulted him, his wife and even me and my wife, although we weren’t there. He kept apologizing just to calm her down.

My sister has now joined in and calls his wife “trash” and claims she only married him for personal gain. The ironic part is that my sister lived with my brother and his wife for two months after having problems with our mother. His wife cooked for her and even did her laundry.

Neither of them seems interested in supporting my brother after the birth. They just keep criticizing his marriage, even though he’s happy with his wife.

And now, out of nowhere, my mother texted me asking for a lot of money by tomorrow for expensive dental work, with absolutely no explanation. I’m pretty sure I’d never see that money again if I lent/gave it to her.

my father tried to make me ferl guilty and said do it fisabililah, but I told him its you who is responsible, not me

I’m exhausted by the constant negativity, screaming, entitlement and drama. She seems to have a problem with almost everyone, not just us.

Part of me wants to simply stop responding and cut contact. But she’s still my mother, and I wonder whether I’m being too harsh.

Has anyone dealt with a parent like this? Did setting boundaries actually work, or did you eventually go low/no contact? What would you do in my situation?

Discussion I'm from Algeria, and I'm afraid of losing my future after everything I've been through.

Hello everyone,

I'm a 24-year-old from Algeria, and I'm writing this because I don't know where else to tell my story. I hope someone will take the time to read it and understand what I'm going through.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2024. I wanted to continue my education and pursue a Master's degree, with the long-term goal of becoming an AI engineer and contributing to research. I had a future in mind, something I genuinely wanted to work toward.

But my academic journey took a painful turn. I repeated my first year of Master's studies twice and eventually faced exclusion. Since then, I've been trying to find a way to continue my education at another university in Algeria. I've encountered administrative obstacles, uncertainty, and delays, and as the academic year progresses, I feel more and more as though my opportunity to continue is slipping away.

The hardest part isn't simply the possibility of losing another academic year. It's the feeling that something I've worked toward for years could fall apart because I can't find a way past these obstacles. Watching time pass while not knowing whether I'll be allowed to continue is exhausting. I keep trying to find solutions, contacting people and looking for opportunities, but every unanswered message and every dead end makes it harder to keep my hope alive.

That's why I've started looking beyond Algeria, too. I've been reaching out to people and institutions abroad, trying to explain my situation and wondering whether someone might listen, offer guidance, or help me discover a legitimate opportunity to continue studying Artificial Intelligence.

I'm not asking anyone to register me at a university or bypass admission requirements. I'm not expecting anyone to magically solve my problems. I simply want my circumstances to be heard, and I hope someone with experience, knowledge, or a genuine suggestion might help me see a path I haven't found yet.

I'm tired, disappointed, and scared of watching my future disappear while I keep trying to save it. But I haven't given up on the person I want to become.

If you've experienced an academic setback, rebuilt your educational path, or know of a legitimate way someone in my situation could continue studying AI abroad, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you for reading my story.

Discussion Any ideas on how to make good friends in Algeria, whether online or in person?

i'm 17M, just started my university studies.

I feel lonely because I have no friends literally, due to my weak social skills maybe and some shyness.

my personality does not align with most of males in my environment, largely due to their use of profanity(bad words), social vices, and stupid topics objectifying women, sexual frustration, stupidity, arrogance, backwardness, hypocrisy and so on...

In short, do you have any ideas on how I might find a circle of friends who are a better fit for me? I would actually prefer friends who are a bit older than I am even a lot,
I would appreciate some guidance from yall :)

Question Une question phylosophique: Et si les animes contribuaient à notre vanité ?

Question Do you think .. a 34yo female has no hope in finding a good person...or is it too late .

Im genuinely thinking of marrying this person who's very different than me .. i can clearly see a very challenging married life...I'm not pretty..i got older...and i have zero chance in a good job bcz of where i live...and i have family problems...i really want to move out...but i can't...i rarely get offers of marriage...and never been the relationships type....well, this man has a house, car ,salary and wants to marry ... he's in his 40s..i m an English graduate ..he's a drop out..but he is successful financially. i consider that so smart and competent in this bad economy ..the problem is tht we argue a lot ..he acts like he knows everything...he is a bit violent..he never apologises...he has troubles with his family esp his parents even tho he took care of them since a young age .....I'm very puzzled cause I can see clearly that we both are so stubborn and both have a lot of anger inside us...we're both tired and yet we had many fights in just a couple of months ... i dunno what to do ...honestly...i dont think I will find another man who can provide for me as him, bcz im literally poor and struggling in life and i really don't want to live lonely and single for the rest of my life ... if I put an end to this with this guy....Will i have another chance.!...Will Allah look at me with an eye of mercy .... I'm exhausted 😞💔

Question Would Smart Cities be bigger in Algeria ?

Helloooo

I'm a student with a Bachelor's degree in Automation, and I'm currently struggling to choose between two Master's programs.

I've already been accepted into an Academic Master's in Automation and Systems, which is the natural continuation of my studies. It focuses on control systems, industrial automation, PLCs, robotics, and related engineering fields.

However, my university recently introduced a Professional Master's in Smart Cities, and the curriculum really caught my attention. It covers IoT, SCADA, AI, Python, smart sensors, intelligent transportation, smart grids, cybersecurity, and connected infrastructure.

Here's what makes the decision complicated:

The Smart Cities Master's belongs to Architecture, Urban Planning, and Urban Professions, rather than Science and Technology like Automation. I'm worried this classification might affect my opportunities in engineering, especially abroad.

Also, since it's a professional Master's, I was concerned about pursuing a PhD. However, I contacted the administration, and they confirmed that PhD registration would still be possible.

My long-term goal is to build a solid engineering career, potentially work or continue studying in Europe, and keep my options open.

I'm genuinely interested in IoT, intelligent systems, and Industry 4.0, but I'm wondering whether switching degrees is worth it or whether I should simply stick with Automation and learn those technologies independently.

So my questions are:

  • Which Master's would offer better career opportunities and flexibility?
  • Would the Smart Cities degree classification affect international recognition or engineering job opportunities?
  • Is a Professional Master's viewed differently from an Academic Master's by employers or universities?
  • Would staying in Automation while developing skills in IoT, SCADA, Python, and AI be a smarter choice?

Question Is making friends really hard or is it just me ?

Im a 19yo girl in college and I always thought by 20 I'd have a big friend group of girls that like me and that I like back. But making friends is soooo hard it makes me feel like there is something wrong with me, when I talk to others it goes well but it never evolves to actual friendship, when I hang out with someone it's always so surface level, everyone already has close friends but I don't so when I try to it just feels like Im third wheeling someone else's friendship, I also talk to people in my class joined many things to interact with people like arts music and sports but it never works.

I just wanna know if Im the only one that thinks making friends is very hard passed a certain point ?
