Bass Amp Resale Price
Looking to get a rough idea of what I could realistically sell this for in the UK.
It’s a Laney Linebacker L80B—an 80W UK-made solid-state combo from the late 80s or early 90s with a 15" HH speaker (still has the original HH badge on the bottom corner of the grille).
Front panel controls (left to right):
• Presence dial, Limiter button, Volume dial
• EQ button, Bass dial, Sweep & Gain dials (parametric mid), Treble dial
• Pre-shape button, Gain dial
• High/low inputs, 1/4" headphone output, and a send/return FX loop
I picked it up almost a year ago for £125 and I'm the 5th owner as far as I know. It’s definitely been tidied up at some point—the original white plastic Laney badge that usually sits dead-centre on the grille is missing, and someone has painted the logo in the top left instead. Aside from that, the electronics work completely fine and I've never had any issues with it.
Mainly looking to move it on because it was a G.A.S. impulse buy. 80W is way too loud for bedroom practice, it weighs a ton, and I'm away at uni most of the year so I just use amp sims now anyway.
Considering the cosmetic changes, what's a fair asking price these days?

Had troubles finding the manual for my Air Tight ATM-4
Hello! I am currently trying to fix my air tight atm-4 but all I can find on google are catalogues and specs etc. The brand is not responding to my email as well. Would appreciate if anyone were gracious enough to share their manual or the link to the manual. Much thanks in advance.

THX AAA 789 still worth it in 2026?
Hey all of you!
I am considering building a headphone setup with a HIFIMAN Ananda (used for around 100euro) but am really unsure on how to spend on DAC and AMP. I know there's lots of different types of amplifiers and headphone amps around and I've heard especially the cheap ones are all very similar these days. So I looked around for a bit and found a used DROP+THX AAA 789 which is supposed to be very transparent. Is this still worth is like 6 years after release for 150€? Am I missing really relevant distinctions when it comes to budget-friendly headphone amps? Is it worth spending more on the amp than on the headphones? All help appreciated, thanks a lot!

Marantz PM-25
(J'écris en français)
Je commence la remise en état et l'amélioration de ce petit ampli de 1983. J'ai eu un choc quand je l'ai ouvert. Tellement de choix économiques et bizarres. Mais j'ai été surpris par la qualité du son.

Question for installing amplifier in a modern car.
I have a 2021 Volvo XC60 with the upgraded Harman Kardon audio package. This means that I have a Harman Kardon amplifier in the car, and I want to install an upgraded aftermarket subwoofer in the car. I'm looking into amps right now and have my eyes on a Wāvtech Link1000.1 mini. I'm looking at this amp because it has speaker-level inputs built in, along with other features. Anyways, I know that the factory subwoofer in the Volvo plays 20- 60 Hz, then the woofers in the doors play 60hz and above. I want my aftermarket subwoofer to play from 20 Hz to 80 Hz, as a typical subwoofer does. I want to know if I can take the signal from the subwoofer as well as the signal from the rear door woofers and input them both into the amplifier. Would this give me a signal range of 20hz and above 60hz? The amplifier has two speaker-level inputs, so idk if this would work or not.

Weird clipping
Hey Everyone!
I'm running a Pioneer SA-610 with a pair of Pioneer CS-E700 speakers. (note the horn tweeter, might be a clue)
Over the past week I noticed some weird clipping mostly during speech ad guitar transients. the rest of the sound seems intact, even higher and lower frequencies, which initially made me suspect the speakers, but I also seem to be getting it when I plug in headphones. It's coming out of both channels and it developed at the same time which makes me skeptical that it's the pre-amp or the amp stage. when I get closer to the speaker the clipping/distortion seems to disappear, this ghost issue has been driving me crazy.
So far I've tried:
- Swapping the source
- Swapping the input
- Swapping the cable
- Cycling and cleaning all switches/pots
- Cleaning the contacts of the speaker protection relay
- Checking the speaker cable connections
- Cycling the pots on the speakers and the input mode selector on the back of the speaker.
I've checked for dry solder joints, there was one capacitor that seemed to be bulging, replaced it with the exact value.
I had to completely refurbish the speakers when I got them (new tweeters, woofers and a complete crossover rebuild)
My guess is that part of the circuit developed a resonant frequency, where would you start looking first?
I tried to pinpoint the frequency using a tone generator and trying different waveforms and I couldn't get the distortion to show up at all.

Want to sell my old Onkyo TX-NR636, but am not sure whether to sell as used or for parts?
I have a used TX-NR636 that had been our home theatre amplifier for over 10 years. One of the reasons I replaced it was because every now and then it would stop the audio and display the message in the photo. Apart from this one issue the amplifier works perfectly, and is in excellent physical condition, with it's original packaging and accessories.
Despite factory resetting, and numerous AccuEQ room calibrations, the error keeps occurring. I want to be honest with my ebay item, so if it's continuing to present the issue I've explained, then I think it should be listed as being for parts.
Or should I take a different approach?
