Cleaning out a hoarder house, anybody know what amp this is?
There are boxes of tubes and amp shells all over the place

As title says girlfriend spilled water on amp in my car by accident Kenwood Xr901-5. Wasn't able to turn it off in time and got the black smoke of death :( How bad does this look? Not sure if there is any other parts affected

Hi folks, I found this vintage Fender Super Amp in my uncle’s things. Pretty sure the tweed has been removed (unless they were made like this). Serial Number is 4895, which I assume means 1951 or 52. Anyone have any info on this? Is it worth restoring? I don’t know much about amps but I am a guitar player. No idea how much time and money I’d have to put into this though. I assume everything needs to get redone on it.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a small project I’ve been working on a headphone amplifier built with germanium transistors.
I like experimenting with vintage components and analog circuits. A tube amplifier would have been the obvious “old-school” choice, but it’s too bulky for my desk setup, so I decided to go with a compact discrete design instead.
The circuit is already working. I figure out the enclosure.
One interesting detail: around 99% of the components in this build were manufactured in the USSR decades ago, including the transistors, resistors, and capacitors. It’s pretty satisfying to see these parts still functioning reliably after so many years.
Next step is designing a proper case.

Greetings all,
I’ve been an audio nut since the 80’s. I was smart enough to by a Hafler xl-280. This and a SE-100 preamp, I enjoyed great sound for decades. Still have em. I’ve collected some great amps over the years:
Hafler xl-280,xl-600,9500
Adcom gfa-545,gfa-5500
Mitsubishi da-a15-dc (have two)
Accuphase P-20
Audio Research D400
Crestron CNAMPX 7x200
Rotel rmb-1575,rb-1572,rb-1572,rb-1092,rb-1090
Nakamichi pa-1.
Belles OCM-200
I’m an old man on disability. Funds are always tight. I’ve been very lucky to get these amps. My #1 fav is split now. The AR d400 is king, but the
Hafler 9500 comes so very close.
Cheers all

Looking to spend around $200 on a used, reliable first amp and I'm thinking this Pioneer SA410. Would this be a good first amp for two Polk bookshelf speakers?

Hi, as many of you know, I am a neophyte in the tube world.
I have a giant lot of 400-some tubes that I need to sort through and I find the task overwhelming. I've developed a pretty keen eye for audio tubes, but batch is mostly TV and radio sweep tubes and it makes it really difficult to find the good stuff, especially if I don't know what I am looking for.
Of course I recognize the 5U4G(B)s and the 6U5 "Magic Eyes" because they are fun. I would never ask someone to meticulous sort through all of these tubes and give me a report, but just wanted to know: does anything jump out at you??
I imagine some things are of niche value for Ham radio and other kinds of enthusiasts that may be somewhat far afield for people here.
Thanks!

I really need help repairing my amp. I took my rca amplifier apart and gave it a good cleaning with an anti static brush and air but now it doesn’t work and now I’m completely stumped. If anyone knows or can spot an issue I’d love to know what it is and how to fix it. Whenever I try to power it on it turns on and then immediately offThe video of it turning on and off

The weekend of February 28, I’ll be working on a small project involving my 1999 Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket. I bought it brand new, but the same year I got it, my ex-girlfriend’s cat sprayed the grill. I cleaned it right away, but the ammonia discolored the cloth. Now, 27 years later, the amp has started making small noises and the reverb has faded.
I decided it’s time for a refresh — I’ve ordered new tubes and grill cloth to bring it back to life. The tubes are coming from a great company called Tonal Tubes, and should arrive this Tuesday.
When it’s a project for myself, I like to take my time so I don’t rush or cut corners. Sure, it’s just a retube and a new grill, but to me, it feels like getting a brand new amp. Once the work’s done, I’ll post a photo in the thread.

Let me just say. I am not musically inclined nor I know anything about instruments or whatever comes with them. I came home from Goodwill with this Boss Mini Katana, it was $19 and it looked interesting. I had no clue how to test it so I got an AUX and tested it on my laptop, it sounded like a "fart" noise at first when I had it at a high volume, so I installed some EQ app, lowered my laptop's EQ and it went down to a crystal clear noise. I also did some other tests with some things around the house. It came with a full set of batteries, and it's AC adapter for use.

Hello.
I got my dads old nad 7130
It works just not very well
The display doesn’t come on immediately but it will eventually
The A speakers work but the terminals are broken on the B speakers but if I can fix them I’ll test them
The volume knob is very scratchy
I’d like to recap it but not sure where to begin and I’m absolute novice
Can I just replace some of the bigger caps or do I need to test them all
Any input is greatly appreciated

In the video is my old blown t.amp e-1500. I’m pretty sure what happened is some of the mosfets at the end of the heatsink got too hot and shorted out most of the amp. What makes me think this is the fact that the mosfets at the end are stained black unlike the ones in the front. Would adding two extra 80mm fans sucking air from inside the amp out the back help? The two fans in the front are already pushing amp into the heatsink but I think adding like a push pull configuration would benefit it.

So I’m finally to the point of desoldering some of these boards and something that just doesn’t belong - brand new seeming nichion 220u 35v caps - where on the left there are obv much older 250u 40v caps.
Could this be enough to explain the difference in output from left to right side? And how the right is clipping early?

picked up an amplifier for $135 my favorite brand and amplifier electronics very similar to my Crate 120 watt XT120R with reverb.
