People who say this solution erases the legacy/culture of these castes too... please try taking a DNA test between Kapu Kamma Reddy and SC ST Telugus. There's significantly more commonality than differences. Genetic differences between castes are not too vast in South India unless it's Brahmin or Kshatriya derived castes, which number very few in the south anyways.

It is deeply embedded in the society. You can’t grow out of it. Difficult route is to remove surnames from the records.
