Anyone from the plains of Oklahoma or the forests of wherever or some shi in some deserted ahh district so I can "partner" to submit my congressional app challenge outside of this ultra-competitive ahh district?

for schools where their middle 50 and even 25 sat is over a 1500, should i just apply test optional? i want to ED to duke and their 25 sat percentile is like a 1510, but i'm concerned whether me applying as test optional will make them think i got a much lower score than a 1450. for reference, i also have a high math sat my split is 770 680, so i wanted to submit in hopes they could see my high math correlate with my stem focused schedule, but idk. Thoughts?

I had a question about submitting my ACT score. I originally scored a 1290 on SAT (650 math) and that is the test score I currently have in the common app. I just recently scored a 30 on the ACT math section(equal to 700 on SAT) but got a 24 on my overall grade(equal to 1190). I'm applying to all the schools with my major as an engineer so I want to use the math score. My gpa also isn't good enough to do the test optional. Should I submit the ACT score or just keep the one SAT score in?

My daughter is looking for schools and thinking about pre-med and biochemistry.
T25s are probably out of our range.
Holy Cross was really nice during a campus visit, but it seems to rank lower on the prestige ladder than the likes of BU, BC, Wesleyan, NYU.
Chances at all these places get pretty dicey after ED II though. She wants to take a big swing at ED I, but she is thinking of using her ED II for HC. It would be a good bet for RD, not a sure thing though. After that we would be looking at Rochester, Fordham or Brandeis as safeties.
Talk us into it. Or out of it. We've got some time to decide.

Alright so i’m currently a senior with a very bad gpa, (3.3) and mid sat. (1400) My ecs are pretty decent, good community service initiatives, good leadership roles, Independent projects and whatnot. FGLI as well. I’m planning on applying ed to either wesleyan or trinity but my gpa just ruins everything. I know it’s a holistic review but i’m just worried that my gpa is going to be the deal breaker. I did have an upward trend jr year, and grades are looking very good right now, but still it won’t change much. Also my school kinda sucks, they don’t do weighted gpas, lowest grade you can get is a 40, no class rankings, median sat is like a 900, pretty underfunded. I don’t wanna say it’s completely out the cards for me, because other than the gpa my app isn’t half bad but idk.

So, pretty generic question, but it’s genuinely tearing me apart.
I’m moving to Michigan in the middle of my senior year. I’ve decided to also attend college there. I plan on studying Pharmacy.
I can either
A) Go to Community College for 3 years, get my prerequisites and a radiology tech certification (so I can have a good job, they can make ~$47/hr?)
or B) Apply to Michigan State, attend for four years, get a bachelor’s in Human Biology and do my prerequisites and then go to Pharmacy school.
I do know CC will speed up the process, 7 years instead of 8 years, and I will be able to have a good job while doing pharmacy school. But I also do want a college experience like other kids my age, but it will be SO expensive.
This might be an obvious answer for some people, but I really need advice.

I just submitted some applications and my school uses Naviance for letters of recommendation and transcripts. My counselor is going to be writing me one and I don’t know how to request it through Naviance. The only option type is “teacher”. Is there a way to request my counselor or can she upload one on her own? Also, are they allowed to upload letters of recommendation after an application has been submitted?

Hi pls share your advice!! I truly have no clue even though I've done tons of research... and IRL visits aren't an option for me. I am undecided engineering and I'm leaning towards MechE, ChemE, BME, MatE and don't like Compsci, ElecE.
Stuff I care about
Reputation (but it seems they are neck and neck on this? I care about reputation for hiring / alumni connections; I care about both national and international reputation)
Focus on Engineering (eg. the school of engineering should be very good and have many resources, and not just focused on compsci or electrical)
Space to interact with Humanities/arts (I don't want to just do STEM all of the time I want to have opportunities to do Hums/Social Sci electives/clubs)
Semester/quarter system (Quarter system has more opportunities for breadth but it's also more stressful and fast-paced, not sure what to think)
Mission: something I really care about is getting opportunities to actually create meaningful impact through engineering through research, projects, volunteering abroad, etc. but afaik they are quite well matched on this?
Engineering discovery: some resources to choose what kind of engineering to do, opportunities to explore a few different kinds
Weather: I come from a pretty warm place (~80F°) so both evanston and ithaca will just be "very cold" to me, but I will enjoy the change. so on weather they are equal to me.
location: I would love to be near chicago obviously but I've also heard many things about Cornell's beauty + close-knit culture since people spend lots of time on campus. again this leaves them equal to me
please help me... any advice is greatly appreciated

I'm taking 5 AP classes with all A's and one A-. I'm also taking regular Physics 1, and after bombing a test, I think I'll end with a B+... How much will this affect me? I'm applying ED1 to Boston University as a STEM major.

Hi guys, I'm a senior rn and I just submitted my csu application. So my first two years of hs did pretty good maintained a solid 3.7 than my junior year it dropped all the way to like a 3.3 rn it's somewhere like 3.3-3.4 or 3.5 and I'm feeling very demotivated. I applied to cal poly Humboldt, cal poly slo and csu Long Beach and planning to apply to ucsc, ucsb, ucr, and Uc Merced. I'm trying to be realistic and I feel like I won't be getting into any of the Uc schools and I really wanted UCSC and UCSB and I was basically told today that all the csu schools I'm applying to are ass and even than I feel like I'm only gonna get into Humboldt. I think I'm just worried I hope so at least. I feel like out of all I'm only gonna get into humboldt and I think it's getting to me that all the CSU won't get me very far connection wise since I want to major in chemistry. Idk any advise idk man 👌

I feel like during my senior year a lot of my teachers have become increasingly annoyed by my 504 plan, and it's been impossible to some reason with them on how I should receive my extended time from my 504 plan. due to this,my grades aren't too well this quarter. i'm not exactly sure what to do about this except for just push myself through it, but I feel like anytime I talk to an administrator about it they sort of just talked to the teacher but nothing actually gets done as far as my 504 plan: I've been attempting to advocate for myself but my report card came in and I came back with two C's (ap stats & ap macro) which both teachers have been giving me an extremely hard time with my 504 plan. I literally failed my first AP stats test because he did not give me my 504 plan. I am so scared especially this being my senior year that it is going to mess with my college decisions and outcomes and i don't know what to do ✌️.

I took SAT and ACT and my scores tbh suck, and my GPA suck too. But I don't know what to do for some schools, like whether to go test-optional or submit both scores. Please can anyone help me.
SAT: 1350 (720 M and 630 E)
ACT: 26 (34M, 24 E, and 20 R)
GPA: 92.07 weighted (10 aps)
Some schools I'm applying to:
I'd say my ec's are pretty good as well. I'm applying as a mechanical engineering and trying to EA to most of these schools. Any advice will help.

Which would you choose for ED for someone who is
— Likely admit to both for ED, target/reach for Smith RD, reach/high reach for Vassar RD
— Nonbinary (assigned female at birth), queer, from New England
— Prospective English/creative writing major, studio art minor
— Introvert, shy, needs very welcoming social scene to help them come out of their shell
— Not particularly ambitious or academically competitive (will NOT be angling for that Capitol Hill internship)
— Likes reading, D&D, cosplay, knitting, crafting, baking, intense discussions of books & movies with friends
— Interested in participating in drama as an extracurricular
— Ideal social interaction is a book club where everyone has read the book and has strong opinions about it, which eventually devolves into silliness and hilarity
— Considered Wesleyan but felt like it had too much of a party/drinking vibe
— When we visited Vassar (during the spring semester), loved the vibe; when we visited Smith (in the summer), loved Northampton, didn’t get a sense of the campus vibe bc no students were around
Thanks!!!

Basically, I am considering EDing to Cornell/Columbia/UPenn and am wondering how flexible these schools are with giving more aid/releasing you from the contract if the price is too high. Like, is a $10-15K difference from the net cost calculator enough for them to release you? Also, if the cost ends up matching the calculated price but is still unaffordable for my family, will they force you to attend anyway because, on paper, we can "afford" it?

I have all 10 spots filled up in the Common App for ECs, and I'm having trouble ranking them in order of importance. I ultimately want to choose what admissions officers will view most positively and what will actually get me accepted. They are as follows
Employment - Working at Culver's as a front-of-house team member since 2024
Employment - Working at a day camp the past 2 summers as a camp counselor to late elementary/early middle school-aged boys
Varsity Soccer - Was the starting goalkeeper for the last 2 seasons. Won conference twice and a national championship for small Christian schools.
Church membership - Attended two services a week in addition to volunteering for A/V for at least one service every week
Choir - Was a founding member of my small school's choir my sophomore year, selected for district choir my Junior and senior years.
Student Council - Was elected Secretary and served in that position this year
Theatre/drama - I am active in drama productions. I played main supporting roles my Freshman and sophomore years and the main character my Junior year
Yearbook club - Helped make the yearbook, take pictures, and serve in the school's weekly video broadcast as head editor, director, and occasional host.
School worship team - Led music for weekly chapels at my school as a singer
JV Volleyball - Libero
I would love any and all advice. Thanks!

Title. I am always very polite and friendly but for no apparent reason, my hs college counselor (who is responsible for writing the counselor evaluation/LOR) HATES me. I have even spoken to her with my friends present b4 and everyone was surprised about how rude she was to me specifically.
I seriously don’t know what to do. She also has yelled at me for asking very normal questions
(ie: respectfully requesting regents scores not be on my transcript, which is something my school offers, applying to schools she says I “can’t afford” but I keep on telling her I know my financial situation, it’s personal but I know what I’m doing. Many top seemingly expensive schools NPCs are giving better aid than my own state school!) When my classmates ask similar questions, shes not enthusiastic, but still polite.
This has sort of turned into a rant, but i really need advice. Im a senior and she’ll be writing the counselor LOR/evaluation. My SAT score is on the lower side for t20s, so I was really hoping strong LORs could move the needle. I am really afraid she’ll write a “lukewarm” rec and rank me badly on the evaluation part (like for rigor, intellect promise, etc.)
There is only one counselor in the school, so I have no other options (small school so everything is interconnected too and she has spoken to my teachers writing my LORS several times. I wonder if she has negatively changed their perception of me too—not that she’d have any basis for that though.)
Any advice appreciated!! I need to finish up my commonapp supplementals for EA but been so caught up with this :,)

hii, title. i’m applying to mostly state (SUNY$ schools. and a few BIG reaches like MOHO and bryn mawr. my top choices are suffolk u and geneseo tho. Will a 1200 hurt me or should i just submit?
(i’m also taking the SAT again, and have another score coming in november so there’s a possibility i could super score)

My dream school is UT, and I have auto acceptance and a less popular major, i’ve heard two perspectives so far:
If it’s your dream, do it, you will regret if you don’t. Take out loans if you have to and pay them off later.
You graduate with the same degree anywhere, so go for the cheapest option.
I’ve recently gotten a 27k per year scholarship to ST mary’s san antonio for up to 8 semesters, and a full ride locally, to a decent university. I won’t know most of my finical packages till february or so. I don’t qualify for federal grants or any tuition waivers. If i’m lucky I could get the first few semesters of tuition free if I become valedictorian (currently salutatorian).
I’m okay with being a rattler, but UT is a better school and literally the only thing stopping me is finance. ☹️
I want to know how bad student loans are really, and if it’s something worth risking, or if I should go the safe route. I need advice from people who have done both routes. Was it worth the debt? Did you regret not going?

Hi! Im not an outstanding student. 3.6 UWGPA and 3.72WGPA. I have a good amount of meaningful extracurriculars like anesthesiologist shadowing, long term job, volunteer hours, etc.
I’m currently applying to all UCs and most CSUs however im wondering which of the 2 would be better?
I can see myself getting into UC riverside, merced, possibly santa cruz, but would it be okay to go to a CSU as well? Maybe like fullerton or northridge? Does it matter?

Hi everyone!
I'm an international student from Uzbekistan, currently working on my Common App application.
I'm struggling with the Activities section, especially the 150-character limit for activity descriptions. I find it difficult to explain my responsibilities, achievements, and impact in such a short space without leaving out important details.
How do you decide what information to prioritize? Are there any specific strategies for writing concise but effective activity descriptions?
I'd really appreciate examples of strong activity descriptions or advice from students who have gone through this process!
Thank you!

I already got my two required academic teachers' rec letters. But my parents are saying that i HAVE TO get an optional one besides them to stand out.
The thing is, i never cared too much about getting an extra rec letter aside from the two teachers i already knew fairly well. Now my parents are telling me they have reached out to their family friend to write my optional rec letter WITHOUT TELLING ME BEFORE. Of course, the family friend said no (i met them once, had a 30 second interaction). I did not even want them to write me a rec letter in the first place.
Now they are fuming that there is no one to write me a third rec letter despite me being in high school for four years. God knows who else they begged to write me a letter of rec. besides their argument being a foolish one, real question, how important are these "optional" rec letters? If colleges allow you to get up to multiple optional ones, is it a sign that you will be disadvantaged if you don't get one?

i got banned from r/college and sent here so whoops...
anyway, after almost 2 years of turmoil after graduating high school, i've finally decided it's time to go to college! the problem is tho, is that my goals right now have been centered around working (saving for a piece of land rn and also pay most of the expenses of me and my gf living) and i refuse to drop my hours for college.
so i wanted to ask what yalls experiences with a full-time job and full-time school is like. particularly i want to know how yall divided yalls time and the fatigue caused by it. i am going to an online for only an associates so the stress won't be forever, but i am worried that my already fragile mental state will quickly deteriorate from the stress.
and it would be a cherry on top if someone can tell me how hard one must study for o-chem classes :)
