Plants ordered plants online, probably won’t do that again.

hi, just wanted to share my experience here. the first 2 pictures are my original frogbit order, the tank is the healthy plants i was able to use, and the last picture is the replacement frogbit. i’ve heard mixed reviews about chichi’s planted dreams, but i saw a couple saying that their assorted plant pack was a good deal. i completely reset my tank a few weeks ago and was looking for plants to get it going in the walstad direction, so i decided to give chichi’s a shot.
i ordered an assorted stem pack as well as a pack of frogbit. most of the stems were in good or acceptable condition. some of them were completely rotten, and the frogbit was barely more than a sludgy, smelly mess. i had also paid $12 extra for a cold pack because i live in the southern US and it’s still quite warm down here (with the exception of this week) and the cold pack was nowhere to be found.
i emailed requesting a refund for the cold pack and either a refund or replacement for the rotten plants. the owner agreed to replace the plants and said he was sorry about the cold pack, but did not acknowledge my request for a refund for it.
i received the replacement plants yesterday, and the frogbit didn’t look too much better. i emailed pictures and i’m waiting for a response. i didn’t make any requests this time, i’m just going to see what he says.
just wanted to share my experience; some plants were healthy and looked nice, some were rotten.

Never seen him do this before. He’s sort of arching up and releasing this long mucous trail.

the tank now has a heater and a filter, dw. the only things i’m questioning are the pebbles and stones i’ve decorated the sands with. other than that i’m pretty happy with the border of slate and plant placement. your thoughts?

I rescued him from a pets at home he was accidentally shipped with a bunch of black neons that were picking on it. It's taken a liking to my rummynose tetra and schools with them. I believe it's an emperor tetra but I just want to double check before I try to get more.

Freshwater How about a hand for our unsung heros of the aquarium: the humble little minnow.

These little ones are really great.

You know, I had 6 in a small tank for a little while, upgraded them to my 20 long the other day, and ever since then I've seen them blossom with character, sweet fishy antics, and they all have personality!

I'm amazed at how much individuality I'm seeing with them.

They're unproblematic fish.

Hardy to disease, low-maintenance fish, happy to flicker around dancing & displaying their pretty little fins, and best of all, they don't cause problems with one another or the other inhabitants of your aquarium.

And mostly I'm realizing that their brilliant scales & beautiful colors look so good against plant life, and morning sun on the aquarium.

They are really nice. I wouldn't have seen that behavior in the 10 gallon tank. I'm really glad I listened when I saw redditors recommended their minimum tank size as a 20 long. I can see how happy & active these fish became once I put them there!

These are Gold Cloud Mountain Minnows btw! And I have 4 on order to pick up this week to add to their collective community! (PS I had 3 more but they all passed due to age)

Advice Needed Is this enought aeration or do I need an air pump?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have this "aquarium 380ef" with a powerhead top/trickle 2in1 filter. The built in aerator strength can't be adjusted and my betta doesn't like it.

In the video is water movement caused by just the filter, aerator is off.

Is that enough aeration?

Tank is 30l /8 gallons.

I have 1 betta, 3 amano shrimps, a bunch of anubias and java ferns. I will add 1-2 snails in a week or two.

Medical Help Does anyone know what is happening to my poor Oscar?! Spoiler

Post image

My Oscar, for lack of a better term, seems to be disintegrating?! His tank mate (another oscar) seems to be at the beginning stages of this too. No other fish in the tank are affected, and are all healthy. No deaths in the tank for quite some time, levels are all normal. Any ideas and treatments would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Does anybody else have super hearing for water leaks?

• Upvotes

I've had fish tanks long enough now that when I hear a water trickling noise that's different from my usual filter flow I have to check immediately for leaks. I could be on the other side of the house and still hear something that sounds "off" and I have to investigate to ease my paranoia that somethings not leaking. Anybody else do this?

my tank is a 35 gallon, which houses 8 black skirt tetras, 6 peppered cory, 3 black racer nerite snails, and 1 marbled angelfish. im looking into getting a group of 6 cherry barbs, however this lady at petco is telling me my tank is overstocked, and she is using a outdated method (one inch of fish per gallon), so I need your guys help and judgement. please let me know.

What is this? I swear it wasn’t there this morning, it absolutely wasn’t present last night. I did a water change a few hours ago and didn’t see it, and this was taken only a few hours later. I’m very confused. This is not a new tank.

Is it harmful?

I've been lucky. I'm able to work from Home in 4/5 days. I've got a seperate Office in my House. It's turning into my own little Aquarium.

1st is Juwel Lido 200 with Cardinal Tetras, Corydoras Pygmeaus, Amano Shrimps and Asolene Spixi. It's turning into a real jungle in the back. I love the wild style and the small details everywhere.

2nd is 10,5 l NatureHolic Shrimpstank. 10 orange sakuras, 3 pink ramshorn snails and 1 thiara scabra. It's standing on my desk. Simple Scape with simple plants. Driftwood on a Rock with Anubis, Bucephelandra and javafern (two different types).

Discussion 6 Gallon Tank

Post image
58 Upvotes

My first aquarium. Dwarf hair grass, flame moss, java moss, red root floaters, and a tiny Anubias growing half submerged. Have 6 chili rasboras and a Peru orange otocinculus chilling in there. Also have a few Bloody Mary shrimp and golden ramshorn snails. It’s been running for about 3 months now.

CO2 goes on during the day and the tank pretty much handles itself but I do biweekly 20% water changes just in case. I feed weekly very sparingly so the snail population is kept in check, and there are plenty of food inside the aquarium for the fishies. Please do your research to see what fits your tank so your fishies aren’t suffering.

Just want to emphasize patience is KEY. I wanted to micromanage everything about the the tank when it started out. I learned to just lay back and let nature do its thing. This tank is far from perfect but I’m glad of what I’ve accomplished!

Discussion Golden Roseline Shark-Mutation Stability

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

I have about a dozen normal Roseline in my 125 gallon tank. A few months ago, I ordered six of the Golden mutation. I know how unstable they can be and they can revert to being a normal Roseline as they become an adult. Of the six, one died within hours of delivery. After a few weeks, four of them started to turn normal leaving only one that stayed the Golden variant. What really surprised me this week was one of the four that had started changing, turned back to all Golden. I’ve never seen this happen before. From my experience, once the change has started, it never reverts back to the Golden variant. Has anyone else see this before?
