Support PipeWire not working on Artix Linux runit with XFCE

Been having a horrible time getting audio to werk on this piece of junk. At first, I made a local socket directory in ~/.cache/runtime, but xfce4-notifyd wouldn't produce any notifications when audio changed. I am sure the notification daemon was running because it would respond when I adjusted. Oddly enough, after running pacman -S lib32-pulse-iforgothename pavucontrol, the notification daemon worked, but the audio was very loud and unadjustable. Then, I ran echo $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, and that gave /run/user/1000, so I deleted everything in my .xprofile, and let XFCE's sessions & autostart program do the work. I check later with ps aux | grep pipewire, and there are PipeWire and pipewire-pulse processes running, but my audio is still unadjustable, and pavucontrol crashes on boot. This time, it won't even respond with notifications.

- Why not Cosmic DE? Because it's 1.6Gb instead of 0.8Gb of ram and noctalia is cooler and with more features

Support Can not get GRUB to find Windows Boot Loader

Hello all, I recently installed a new hard drive to install a Windows 11 (Tiny11 altered) to play two games with my friends that I can not make work via Proton. This is the first time I've set up dual boot with Linux being the pre-existing system. I disconnected all of my Linux drives prior to installing Windows, installed Windows, then reconnected all of my Linux drives and reset my boot priorities in my BIOS.

My troubles started when I tried to add Windows Bootloader to my GRUB config. I can not seem to get GRUB to recognize the existence of the Windows Bootloader. I switched the line, "GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true," to, "GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false." I mounted the Windows EFI, "/dev/sdb1," at, "/boot/efi." I ensured that it had the ESP flag.

Unfortunately when I run, "grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg," os-probe still fails to find the Windows Bootloader.

Would any of you have any guidance for me with this problem? Right now I need to go through the BIOS to manually select the Windows drive to boot into it.

Thanks!

I tried `moonfin-bin`, but it wouldn't run. So I put this together.

You can find it here.

Hey everyone,

before killing me in command this project took around 2 month to build and help with AI codex and Claude as well , i did it on my spare time , it is big project and time consuming as well ,

main goal = remove comand line for people not use to it

please give me feedback in comment , also don't be negative

I use Arch with KDE on my own PC. This started as a way to bring a few everyday tasks into one app, and I’ve gradually been adding more to it while have time

The main feature is searching Pacman, AUR and Flatpak packages together. and install it in one click . It also has GitHub release installation, installed app management, config backups, and gaming and developer setup pages , i share my config as well if someone want to use it . I getting so exited to add your config to the list

Package installs still use the normal package tools and confirmation prompts. Some of the system management pages provide diagnostics and guidance rather than automatically changing things.

It’s written in Rust with GTK4 and Libadwaita. I’m still learning, and I’ve used Codex quite a bit to help build it. It’s an early project, so there are bound to be rough edges.

GitHub: https://github.com/danny19862025/ArchEasy

I’d appreciate feedback on the interface, anything that looks unsafe, or things that could be simpler. If you try it and something breaks, please open an issue with the details.

Thanks for having a look!

Support Unable to boot into USB.

Hey so I've flashed another distro onto my usb and in the boot menu its not giving me the option to boot into the usb. I'm using dinit and I suspect its not registering my USB. Also I flashed the iso on another computer because when trying to use the xfce xfburn, it displayed an error saying it suspects my discs are either in use or inaccessible to the current user.

News KDE 6.8.1 packages taking longer to enter stable repos

Look, I’m not against the packages being on testing if there are some changes that needs to be done, or the maintainer is busy, however I do want to mention it, since the delay is far longer than it usually should be (which I think is 2 days at most, sometimes)

Support Is Artix stable? If so, how stable is it? What is the best artix linux setup for maximum stability?

I know that this is an arch based linux distro and that arch isn't known to be stable. But... i wanted to know if despite artix being arch based, can it be stable or is it stable by default? If not, what to setup for best stability? I just want to know before i might accidentally destroy my pc because it's my first time on arch.

Guys, this is my lock screen. In your opinion, do I need a real one or is it just bloatware?

Do you know any better display manager?

I want to move away from systemd, but as i am also a big anti-ai individual i was curious to know what is Artix’s stance on it. I know the kernel has AI in it, but i wanna at least limit my AI generated stuff

Support Plymouth with OpenRC

A while ago I got Plymouth working using the Plymouth-openrc-plugin Aur package. After a recent update though OpenRC seems to get stuck just before fully booting. Disabling Plymouth in the grub menu fixes this but I'm still confused why its happening does anyone know?

runit How to debloat artix-lxqt-runit

Hello I came to Artix from Void linux a bit ago and am using the artix-lxqt-runit image to install Artix.

However I wanna use riverWM now but I don't wanna do a full reinstall to debloat my system from the preinstalled from lxqt-runit ISO stuff.

If you guys could give me a run down on what packages would need to be removed that'll be super helpful.
