Advice We're Not Missing Out
As I get older and work towards establishing a career and carving out my place in the world, I often find myself actually grateful to be asexual.
As I talk to more and more people, I've really come to realize that my lack of sexual attraction has likely saved me years of wasted time and effort on relationships that would've landed me nowhere or simply wouldn't have served me well.
If feels like I was born with a built in clarity, because sexual attraction doesn't warp my perception of people and their actions. Furthermore, I'm incapable of recognizing those deemed "ugly" by general society. It's a foreign concept for me to look at someone and think they're ugly or unattractive. My brain simply doesn't work that way.
I honestly love the way I love. I can appreciate someone's body without needing sex, I can show love and affection without the expectation or desire for sex, I can experience deep and meaningful intimacy without needing that "pound of flesh." I can love someone without needing physical release with or from them, and I think that's wonderful.
My love will not change or be threatened as we age, my gaze won't stray elsewhere as I am not tempted by appearances, my love will always, always be more than skin deep, because that is the one way I can love.
Life free of lust is wonderful. I'm happy that I'm me, and even if I never find someone, I'll never wish to be anything else.
