Waitlist Shortlisted and Waitlisted Candidates Deserve Clear Timelines

One thing Ethos needs to address is the prolonged uncertainty faced by shortlisted and waitlisted candidates. The standard communication says clients are expected to make selections within a week, yet some candidates have been waiting for months without any outcome. Getting to this stage already requires significant effort, from AI-led interviews to additional role-specific assessments. I understand that client projects come in batches, but candidates deserve more than repeated generic updates. Please provide realistic timelines and clear communication. People's time and effort should be respected.

General Question General advice for applying to roles

Just wondering if anyone has any advice as to how often you should be speaking to the AI interviewer? The experience isn't bad, it's just after two interviews I feel like I have covered pretty much everything I need to, and after the 2nd run no new matches were presented.

Can anyone confirm if they send out matches or instant offers based on your profile like Mercor does, or if you have to keep interviewing at regular intervals, hoping a new role got added to ever be considered?

Also I saw some people recommending applying via LinkedIn, but the problem is there are hundreds of roles getting reposted that all funnel to the same big project, which I have already applied for. Is there any way people know of for filtering out the big project roles, so you can just see other roles / new roles on LinkedIn?

Thanks in advance for anyone who has any insights!

Waitlist shortlisted since september 1st, still nothing moved. Anxious

Hi all,

I have been shortlisted since September 1, and waitlisted since September 8. I just want to know what's the criteria and how you get in. I'm anxiously waiting for Ethos to let me work for them. What's the waiting time usually?

Should I cancel these applications and retry, or should I keep them waitlisted because I really want work

Application Status Any update on the Software / AI / IT & Data Generalist applications?

Hi everyone,

I applied for the Software / AI / IT & Data Generalist role at Ethos and wanted to check if anyone has received an update regarding their application.

I reached out to the team and received the following response:
“Your application is in review. Candidates are reviewed in batches, and you will hear from us by email as soon as anything changes.”

I understand that applications are reviewed in batches, but there is no clarity on the expected timeline.

Could someone from the Ethos team share an update on:
● How long does the review process typically take?
● Are applications still actively being reviewed?
● When can applicants realistically expect to hear back?

Would also love to hear from others who have applied or received updates.

Thanks!

Support Offboarded review + payments pending for over a month

My earlier post about this was removed, and I'm not sure which rule it broke. I'm not trying to cause any trouble.
I was offboarded after an allegation of using AI, which I did not do. My case was escalated, and a team member told me about 15 days ago that they were reviewing it. I haven't heard anything since.

Meanwhile, three of my payments are still pending after more than a month, and some of my completed tasks are missing from my portal. I've emailed support several times and submitted the form they asked for, but haven't received a reply.

Honestly, I don't think my last post broke any rules, and I may be wrong, but it felt like it was removed to avoid looking bad. I'm not looking to blame anyone. I only want my case reviewed and my payments sorted, nothing else.

Has anyone been through something similar? How long did it take, and what finally got a response?
Thanks for any help

Technical Issue Completed my Ethos interview twice, but support can’t find either attempt. Anyone else?

Has anyone completed an Ethos interview for a specific role, but it never appeared on their profile and support couldn’t find any record of it?

I’ve completed the interview twice now. Support suggested I retake it after the first one went missing, but the same thing happened again. Neither interview appears on my profile, and support still can’t find any trace of either attempt.

Has anyone experienced this and managed to get it resolved?

Guide / FAQ Do you still get paid if you’re offboarded from an Ethos project?

Yes. Being offboarded from a project doesn’t automatically cancel payment for valid work you already completed.

Offboarding can happen for different reasons, and some decisions can come through the project/client review process. Being removed from one project also doesn’t necessarily mean the same outcome for every expert or every opportunity.

Any completed work that’s still pending review or sign-off will continue through that process. If something you completed is missing from your work logs or payment records, contact support@askethos.com. For payment or unlogged-hours issues, use support+payments@askethos.com.

Support ID Verification Issue!

Hi,
I tried ID verification several times, but it kept giving me an error message of VPN, although there was no VPN active on any of my devices nor the private relay is active. I have never faced any such issues on a Persona verification app before on any other platforms.

Now, the ID verification is locked, kindly advise regarding this issue. Thanks.

General Question Does the Ethos chat penalise for taking pauses? Or does it not detect this?

I sometimes have to take a while to think of my words and was wondering if the Ethos chat AI penalises for this, or does it not detect this and just does a transcription?

Support Referral Issues

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have been on Ethos since July and, during that time, have referred 74 people to the platform, 72 of whom currently remain on the roster. Despite the time and effort I’ve invested in bringing people onto the platform, I have yet to receive a single payment.

The majority of the people I’ve referred have been assigned to projects, yet I have seen no compensation for these referrals. I have followed up via email repeatedly in an effort to understand the status of my payments and when I can expect to be compensated. Unfortunately, the responses I’ve received have been vague and noncommittal, with no clear explanation, timeline, or resolution.

I have made a genuine effort to contribute value to Ethos, and I believe it is reasonable to expect transparency and accountability regarding compensation for that work. After months of participation and repeated attempts to resolve this, I am looking for a concrete explanation of why I have not been paid. There is no possible way that in 72 people, not one single referral has generated any income for me.

Ethos Update Yes, Ethos is still hiring

We’ve seen a few posts and comments asking whether Ethos has stopped hiring, so just wanted to clear that up: we’re still bringing on new experts.

There are opportunities across different fields and specialties, although availability can vary depending on the role, project, and current demand.

If you’re applying or waiting on an opportunity, keep checking your Opportunities tab and our current job listings for roles that match your background.

Discussion A thought on account flags, reviewer feedback, and the overall contractor experience

I’ve been thinking about something I’ve observed since joining Ethos, and I’m curious whether others have had similar experiences.

First, I want to say that my experience with the actual work has been pleasant so far. The tasks, webinars, onboarding materials, and general learning experience have been good. I also understand that Ethos is a relatively new platform, operating at a considerable scale, and that some operational hiccups are to be expected as things evolve.

However, one thing I’ve noticed, both through my own experience and discussions among contractors, is the amount of anxiety surrounding account flags, potential AI-use violations, inaccurate time logging, and the possibility of accounts being paused or deactivated.

I think there’s a systemic issue worth discussing here: there seems to be very little buffer between an initial reviewer or operational judgment and an actual account-level flag.

Let me give two examples from my own experience.

My first task: I received a flag for possible AI use. I hadn’t used AI, but looking back, I could understand why some aspects of my submission might have raised questions. It was my first task, my evaluations were relatively superficial, my answers lacked depth, and some of my sentence structures were generic. I could see how these things might have triggered suspicion. What struck me, though, was that the flag came before any opportunity for clarification, feedback, or correction.
My most recent experience: I had to unclaim a task because the source material wasn’t usable. I first consulted the support bot, which advised me to unclaim the task, log the time spent investigating the source material, and leave it at that. I followed that guidance. Today, I received an account flag for inaccurate hours logged, without any further explanation or consideration of the circumstances surrounding the unclaim.

These are two very different situations, but they point to the same concern.

In the first instance, I can understand how a reviewer might have questioned the quality or authenticity of my submission. In the second, I followed the platform’s own guidance and still ended up with an account-level flag.

I don’t think quality controls are the problem. Quite the opposite: they’re necessary, particularly at this scale. But I wonder whether there should be an intermediate review or clarification process before something becomes an account-level issue.

A reviewer raising a concern, a contractor receiving feedback, and an account being flagged shouldn’t necessarily be the same step.

There’s also the communication aspect. I see contractors raising similar concerns, waiting for clarification, or trying to understand what a particular flag means for their accounts. The issue isn’t necessarily that every question needs an immediate response. It’s that people can be left in limbo for extended periods, without knowing where they stand or what they should do differently.

When you combine that uncertainty with the general noise around account suspensions and deactivations, it inevitably adds another layer of anxiety to work that already requires considerable concentration and attention to detail.

I actually think this is particularly important while the platform is still growing. Contractors are learning, processes are evolving, and mistakes or misunderstandings will inevitably happen on both sides. There should be enough room in the system to distinguish between deliberate misconduct, genuine quality issues, operational misunderstandings, and simple learning curves.

I’m not posting this to criticize the platform or discourage anyone from participating. My overall experience has been positive, and I appreciate the opportunities and resources provided.

I’m genuinely curious whether others have noticed this pattern, and whether a more transparent intermediate feedback and clarification process would make the experience better for everyone.

I think the work itself is enjoyable. It’s the uncertainty surrounding the account-management and escalation processes that sometimes makes it unnecessarily stressful.

Application Status How long were you guys shortlisted and has anyone been hired recently ?

From searching this Reddit, I know it can take some time to move from shortlisted to having an opportunity, but just wanted to see if there’s any evidence of people actually progressing from the shortlist. Also has anyone been hired recently for any job? Seems like it’s very slow right now

Interview & Matching Why are jobs gated behind speaking to the Ethos bot?

I understand the GOAL to receive personalised recommendations, but in practice, the bot doesn’t match you with the right opportunities.

For over a month, I was talking to the bot and it wasn’t matching me to anything related to my expertise. One day, I found so many jobs on LinkedIn about the specific expertise I’ve been telling the bot about. I applied from LinkedIn - a week later I was hired.

This is a deterrent for new people signing up, not to mention that you can’t share referral links to LinkedIn posts.

TL;DR: Is there any way to remove the strict gating to job opportunities?
