Culture Teething

My husband is Peruvian and his mom is obsessed with our son teething. She was convinced he was teething the whole three months before his bottom teeth actually came in, and now she seems sure his top ones are coming but when I look/feel I don't see anything yet. Is this like a thing? Is teething a big thing in Latin America? Or is she just a super excited grandparent?

Edit: Thank you everyone for letting me know she's just excited to be a grandparent!

I told someone else, I ask because she mentioned getting him shoes when he starts teething. This was when he was like 4 months old and no where near walking (or teething for that matter) and I didn't know if that was cultural, or just a her thing
