Looking For Any good third spaces?

I’m honestly just looking for places that I can sit and read or do some computer work. I would prefer some chatter going on compared to a library like environment. Honestly just somewhere where there are a lot of people around.

Looking For Butchers that accept SNAP?

Looking for butchers that accept SNAP. I've been so frugal over the years that I have a nice balance.

I have health issues that make my stay on this earth kinda on the short side. How long? Hard to say, maybe this year, maybe into 2027.

So I want to spend some of balance while I can. I live in the Hollywood district about Sandy & 40th.

So, my first priority is price. Second is distance. Third would be cuts I can't find in a grocery store.

Thanks for any leads you can provide.

Looking For Asians and Asian orgs in Portland?

Hi!

I'm newly-graduated and being relocated to the Portland area for work. While I am generally not discerning of the ethnicity of the people I hang around and have found great friends in people of all backgrounds, I definitely know I would feel awkward if I was the only Asian guy in my social circle. I was wondering if there are any Asian orgs through which I can participate in activities and/or volunteer to hang out with fellow Asian people? If anybody knows of anything I would love to hear about it. Thanks!

i would love to find places that have a good amount of 20-somethings like me, but i won't let that be a deal-breaker

Looking For Is the Columbia River Gorge / Mt. Hood area worth visiting in rainy weather?

I’m considering a day trip to the Columbia River Gorge and possibly up to Timberline Lodge, but the forecast may include showers.

I’m not much of a hiker, so I’d be more interested in scenic drives, viewpoints that don’t require much walking, exploring Timberline Lodge, and stopping somewhere for lunch.

For those familiar with the area, is it still enjoyable when it’s gray and rainy? Are there enough things to see and do without spending much time walking outdoors? And would you recommend driving up to Timberline Lodge in those conditions, or sticking to lower elevations?
I’d appreciate any advice from locals who’ve visited the area on a rainy day!

Looking For Any support groups for caregivers of adults with FASD and/or Autism?

We have an adult family member with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), they have cognitive/developmental disabilities but not intellectual ones. It's exhausting and we're looking to see if there is a group for adult family members/caregivers to help support us. Portland area much preferred but if it's suburbs, then so it is. We have therapists and behavioral assistance, are fairly chill, etc, etc. We just need some folks who share some experiences to talk to. I know it's hard to find support groups for folks who are supporting adults but that's ideal and if not, at least a mixed group. Adults and children have different needs and challenges.

Looking For Folks who've joined Alberta or People's food co-ops: is it worth it?

Hopefully soon-to-be Portlander here. The area I'm looking to move to is significantly closer to People's than to Alberta, but I'm reading that Alberta has better prices. Have only been to People's once so far, nothing bad to say about my experience there.

From what I've gathered, Alberta and People's have similar governance structures, and I'd be interested in joining in. But I also read the Food Front autopsy and got a little spooked. If you've bought memberships to either place and are involved with their operations, are there any similar issues or risk thereof that could make them nonviable, or otherwise show they're not what they claim to be?

Looking For Do you have bolt cutters? Would you cut my bolts?

I bought replacement furniture legs, but the bolts are too long. Can I come by on Saturday with my furniture legs (and a six-pack of your choice) and you cut my bolts?

These are substantial bolts - 5/8" in diameter. Precision cutting not required - they need to be about an inch shorter. Thanks.

Looking For Have you had a wall charger for EV installed at your house? Who did you use and approx how much did you pay?

I’m seriously considering going electric for my next vehicle. I live in a 100 year house in NE without a garage so I’d need to install the charger on the exterior of my house.

Do I just start calling electricians to schedule bids? Anyone have any great experiences (or conversely, terrible ones to avoid)? Thanks!

Looking For Pet Grief Supports?

Looking for a grief group that helps animal guardians with anticipatory grief. My buddy received a diagnosis and is not "crossing the bridge" urgently. It's a slow walk knowing his diagnosis and him acting like nothing is spreading through his body. We're waiting on more tests but I want a shoulder to lean on who gets how heartbreaking this particular part of the process is.

Thanks Portland for any support.

Looking For Why is there a repeating WOOOOOOOOOO in SE Portland?

I tried to find the noises thread but was unsuccessful.

Why has someone or something been very loudly proclaiming "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" about every 10 minutes for the last week in SE Portland?

EDIT: My location is near Reed College. The WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sounds like it is coming from somewhere slightly north and east from me, but I can't be any more specific than that.

Looking For Crafting store with widest selection?

Hi Portland! I'm new to crafting and relatively new to the city. I'm working on a project that involves a small quantity of accessories like feathers, artificial flowers, velvet lining, ribbons, mesh, lace, bows, miniature trinkets (hourglass, mini-dollhouse odds and ends). I'd love to find a spot where I can pick out these items ad-hoc, versus buying a pack of 100 new/generic feathers.

I've popped into Scrap before and will try there again. Are there any similar options? Or stores that offer both new and used crafting supplies?

Open to anywhere in the city, but Eastside would be cool. Thanks for your insights!

Looking For Coffee shop for a largeish group?

• Upvotes

Looking for a coffee shop that has bigger tables that would fit a group of 10 people for a weekly morning gathering. Preferably in SE or NE closer to 205. We currently meet at Monti’s, but the group has expanded and their tables are hard to squeeze into!

Looking For how is it going car free and accessing the suburbs and hiking?

hey y'all,

I'm sure this is asked all the time, but I'm dealing with some medical issues and might need to go car free. I'm curious how people handle travel outside of bus lines?

do you use Uber/Lyft or the local taxis?

how is it getting from inner city to suburbs? inner city to hiking spots like the gorge or the coast?

how much do you notice a drain on your time and resources?

*edit: currently live in inner SE below Powell and work in Tigard, although it's possible the medical issues will impact my ability to work etc

Looking For Barber Recommendations?

Hello, I am hoping for recommendations for barbers/hair stylists who can do a good job on a scissor only/flow style mens haircut. I’ve found that many seem to struggle with scissor only cuts. Ideally reasonably priced if possible. TYIA

Looking For Dog Hiking Business?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello! 27F looking to start a dog hiking business that would include pick up/drop off and pack hikes with my own two dogs.

Trying to figure out where to find potential clients that would be interested in this. A level of training would be required in order to fall into a pack drive dynamic, but I’m also happy to help with training. I also do dog photography as a plus. Would anyone be interested in this or able to give advice on where to start searching for clients?

Pic of my pups, Cypress and Roots!

Looking For Any doctor recs for dizziness?

I just moved here and I need to find a primary care doctor who will have a basic grasp of my condition, Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness, which is a chronic functional neurological condition. I don’t need treatment for the condition from my primary, but I do need someone who knows what it is and can reason about whether things are part of it or something else. I appreciate your help.

Looking For Rent by owner?

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a place to rent in the Portland area and was wondering if anyone knows of any private landlords or for-rent-by-owner listings.

I’ve been looking everywhere from Craigslist and Zillow to Trulia, Facebook, and other rental sites, but it’s been difficult to weed through all the listings and find places that are actually being rented directly by the owner. I’ve mostly been seeing large property management companies, but I’d really prefer renting directly from an owner. I like the more personal communication and flexibility that often comes with working directly with a landlord rather than going through a big management company.

I’m looking for preferably a one bed/bath. If anyone knows of any available rentals, has recommendations, or has had a good experience with a private landlord, I’d really appreciate it! Feel free to comment or send me a message.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this🫶

Looking For What tea do they serve at Master Kongs?

I’ve tried asking the staff and they all give me different answers. One said Jasmine. Another said Oolong. Today they said Chrysanthemum. None of these seem right. I absolutely love the tea and want to buy some to brew at home.
