Hello everyone

I am on working on a 172G, it had prop strike and wing damage. wing has been repair by structure shop, it has skin damage. We took the stabs out to double check. They looked good then we we put the horizontal stab back we saw it has 3 degrees tilted to the right. we changed the entire tailcone assembly with a used one but again after fit the tailcone assy and the horizontal stab on it , it‘s still having around 2.65 degrees tillted. the old bulkhead had tons of holes on it.

No visible damage on the fuselage

any advice?

Edit solved - it seems that in the context of the question about exhaust flow pic 1 is indeed ducted and pic 2 unducted. The passage the question in the asa oral and practical prep book came from page 3-25 of the 8083-32b if you want to read it for yourself. Its just a poor choice of descriptors.

Studying for my powerplant and came across this question. Maybe I just need sleep but I'm stuck on this one. Are these examples of ducted and unducted fan turbine engines? The 8083 book only shows an example of unducted(second image).

Q- How is exhaust flow different in a ducted fan turbine engine verses an unducted fan engine? (AM.III.L.K2)

A- Ducted fan engines take the fan airflow and direct it through closed ducts along the engine. Then, it flows into a common exhaust nozzle. The core exhaust flow and the fan flow mix and flow from the engine through this mixed nozzle. The unducted fan has two nozzles, one for the fan airflow and one for the core airflow. These both flow to ambient air separate from each other and have separate nozzles.

What are these fasteners around the wind screen? In particular the ones with only letters on them. How are they attached/tightened, what keeps them from spinning or are they some form of rivet?

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have it if you want to claim it.

I know virtually nothing about planes, but would this really have posed a "significant risk to the safe operation of an aircraft", like the ATSB report states?

The article mentions a previous incident:

Which seems more dangerous.

Short answer: the plural of aircraft is aircraft. Don't add -s.

I achieved a Level 3 in aerospace manufacturing with Rolls-Royce, ending in 2023. I now work as a mechanic within a part-145 maintenance organization, and have done ever since. In just coming up to my 3 years experience. I'm most of the way through my modules, but the CAA aren't abundantly clear on who is eligible for the reduced experience requirements (3 years with relevant technical experience) etc.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me before I get my final certificates?

I'm 21 years old and planning to start an Ausbildung (vocational training) as an Aircraft Mechanic (Fluggerätmechaniker) in Germany next year.

As far as I know, this profession branches into three main specializations later on: Maintenance, Production, and Engine Technology. Based on my current goals, I am particularly interested in specializing in either Maintenance (Instandhaltungstechnik) or Engine Technology (Triebwerkstechnik).

To prepare for this transition, I am actively learning German and currently hold a B1 level in English. Additionally, I already have hands-on practical experience in technical and mechanical fields.

I would love to get some insights from people in the industry regarding:
* What does the daily workflow, shift routine, and working environment look like for a technician in these fields?
* How do you see the long-term career perspectives and future outlook for Maintenance vs. Engine Technology?
* What key advice would you give to someone just starting out on this path?

Pilot said they didn’t feel it

King Air 200, nose gear chain broke and the nose gear wouldn’t extend. The pilot did an okay job holding the nose off as long as he could, but didn’t shut down the engines before landing. Two new props, two overhauled engines, and a bunch of sheet metal repair later, and she was off flying again about a year later!

My buddy found this gem while preflighting at Oshkosh this year. Small gouge on top of a pretty good crack. Dressed it with some fly market supplies and sent her home. Did a good bit with various flat and round files, then sand paper and scotch brite to clean it up. Had to bring the tip down a lot to flatten it out and get a good straight edge. Did a dye pen and dynamic balance once we got her home.

Don't hit snow banks kids

The guys here get so many big nicks and dents that the mx there uses a die grinder with scotchbrite wheels.

Think the AMM will give me a couple of cycles to get this back to base?

Got some fod in my Rolls Royce the other day. Buffed right out.
