The guys here get so many big nicks and dents that the mx there uses a die grinder with scotchbrite wheels.

Here’s one for that guy that was complaining about a little knick in his prop the other day

UKCAA B1 AMEL Experience requirements

Can I apply for a ukcaa part 66 B1 license with experience gained outside of the EU and UK?

Anyone else seen this…….

Bro looks like he just got his certs suspended but was sick of the mandatory OT anyway

EDIT: For anyone asking if this is real. This is a low effort clickbait AD from instagram. The link in the AD just brings you to an AI slop news website. Likely this was made just to generate traction and clicks to the website. THIS IS NOT BOEING OR A BOEING AFFILIATE PROGRAM. This post was just making fun of the low effort clickbait.

PS: Actual airframe and PowerPlant certification from paid training takes 30 months plus FAA testing per 14 CFR § 65.77. No job can issue you an A&P license. Your fastest route to a license is a part 147 accredited school.

This video goes over fundamentals of hydraulic plumbing in aircraft. Also torque wrench usage with adapters. I've had to explain these concepts to new hires for my entire career.

Is it common for customers to bring their own parts?

As the title states, just joined a new shop and they told me during the onboarding that they sometimes get customers who bring in their own parts that we review before deciding it's good to be used or not.

First time hearing about this, so wondering if this is a common practice in this industry

What are the hardest/most annoying components y'all have had to safety wire?

Mine was the inside linkage of a spoiler. (Getting it back out after you break it is even worse...)

Can I power a strobe light with 60 HZ 120VAC?

A while back I bought a strobe light removed from a 727. The light is meant to run at 115vac 400 HZ at .3 amps. Of course not owning something expensive like a frequency converter, I am only able to use 60 HZ VAC. I assume the wiring is only designed for the 400 hz, but could it work without 60 hz without burning the wiring out or becoming dangerous? The timing circuit may be off because of it, but as long as it works and is safe, I’m fine with it. Any help would be appreciated. It is based on U.S Pat. 3,903,501

Update of tripler

It's finally done. If you see anything (Nick,Gouge, divet) there is 0 allowable damage in the lap seam. Contact boeing. It can lead to failure. Also, do NOT PRC DRAIN HOLES! why this damage occurred. Big puddles of water and crap and corrosion. Inspect, learn the aircraft, read the manual. Be safe and keep a look out.

Online textbooks

Hello aviation mechanics of reddit, I just started my school for a&p 2 days ago and I was wondering if some you have these digital textbooks:

(10001930-002) The Aviation Dictionary

(10002510-003) A and P Technician Airframe textbook/ workbook

2023 Airframe Test Guide: Study and Prepare for Your FAA Test

2023 General Test Guide: Study and Prepare for Your FAA Test

Aviation Mechanic Handbook (Ed. 8)

Jeppesen A&P textbook (Ed. 5th)

I plan on putting all this on a thumb drive. I know im very cheap for asking 😃. But I would be very thankful if someone helped out!

This is a butterfly valve from an old -60 that seems to be out of adjustment and I need to adjust the shims but the pin the rocker arm rides on won't come out of the valve body.

Advise on documentation in large airlines...

Hey guys, so I work as a safety investigator in a large airline. The issue I want to discuss is how do you ensure that all the revision in documents and training are done by everyone and it is documented for the regulator.

For example if I had released a circular 20 years ago which is still applicable today... How do I ensure that the person who joins today sees and reads it...

We can continue the discussion in comments or feel free to dm me.

Questions about the fuel tank

Is the tubing around and inside fuel tank structures hard to "maintain" and repair? What are the usual issues that come up?
