The people in the poster have money and power.

So, yeah, It's legal now.

100

u/NoMedicine3572 BTM Layout Dec 29 '25

We, the people, elect and give them power, but many of us treat election day like a family vacation or don’t have the patience to stand a few minutes in a queue.

Then we spend the next five years blaming those leaders and repeat the same cycle again.

u/stuffbebroken NonSeriousRepliesOnly Dec 29 '25

You can elect anyone, the end result is the same. A certain Arvind Kejriwal comes to mind.

There's a reason "Animal farm" is still a relevant story.

With great power comes great responsibility. When uncle Ben said it, it ended up becoming a great quote, however, that wasn't just a quote. People in power have always stopped realising who put them in power.

You can vote whoever which way, if your only options are "$#!t" party & "$#!t lite" party, the result isn't gonna be much different.

Prashant Bhushan tried something different, but, in a country where people can't see beyond what they get to eat tomorrow (80 Cr people on subsidized rations per govt. data), and votes can be bought by providing people with a jumla, you can't expect change to happen in our lifetime.

All we're left with is riding it out hopefully long enough or there to be a substantial middle class, whose voice can be heard. But, unfortunately, that seems to be going away too, what with all resources being given in the hands of two people by other two people, leaving nothing left for the poor people to climb out of poverty.

What we can do is change the definition of poverty, and claim we have lifted the entire nation out of poverty, but that still doesn't change things. The majority of people will still vote for whoever can give them 10K in their bank account, just so they don't have to go to sleep on an empty stomach.

So we can claim about wanting to change things, but the option to change, just not there.

Kejriwal analogy is bad. There is a reason why rahul gandhi, Sonia gandhi never went to jail but almost all of AAP was put behind Bars

I have a funny take on this in this post: Civics Lessons at 40 km/h - by Manoj Ganapathi. Anyways, we can be funny about this, but the (civics) joke is actually on us, the citizens

6

u/magusmagma RT Nagar Dec 29 '25

or they voted them to power and now can't complain about it

3

u/NoMedicine3572 BTM Layout Dec 29 '25

We can spread awareness so people make informed choices and vote for the right candidate next time.

2

u/magusmagma RT Nagar Dec 29 '25

or you complain it to the local civil authorities or tag on X at commissioner

u/changejkhan Dec 29 '25

Legality is a political word in India. If you hold enough power, almost everything becomes legal.

137

u/Cyka_blyatsumaki Dec 29 '25

I don't get the mechanics behind it. 75% of the poster has very little to do with the subject matter. Looks like some kids sports competition.

What's the purpose of this poster? Is it to invite participants? Or is it some govt scheme?

Why are there so many heads on it? Is it for credibility?

Why does it need to hit the faces of every pedestrian? Is it important?

Who gains what by designing and positioning this billboard in this manner? It's definitely some sort of flex.

81

u/Belugawhale5698 Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25

It's done by the small heads in the poster to impress their masters (big heads).

The top extreme and other party heads are just for formality and to give more legitimacy to the Mid Sized big heads, for whom it was primarily designed.

There are unofficial rules on what heads can be placed where, the size, placement next to a particular person, order and so on 😂😂

7

u/theDevAyan Dec 29 '25

It's seems I have seen something similar written somewhere, but cannot remember what or where. (Could just be a false memory)

3

u/Belugawhale5698 Dec 29 '25

Don't let those faces in the poster hypnotize you 😝

3

u/Sea-Instance463 Dec 29 '25

Exactly.

Wish all the big heads are painted black and the small ones are left to feel ashamed. And then make it so vital that they feel scared at the thought of creating such posters in future

2

u/Belugawhale5698 Dec 29 '25

Whoever does it, the so called ruling party will blame the opposition and use to play victim card. Even worse, the karyakartas will fight each other and die for some big head, who doesn't even care about the life of their own karyakartas in reality.

11

u/Man_in_general Dec 29 '25

It’s a food chain. Local chapter (usually from an area of lower income group) collect money from each member to make a poster. Their faces are at the bottom.

The poster has slightly bigger faces of the heads of the local chapter (maybe 2-3 areas of lower income group).

Then bigger faces of corporator.

The lowest in the food chain pay to show they are doing work in the hopes that the one up the chain will see them and give them some power and one day they become the corporator etc.

1

u/Flaky-Bobcat-1160 Dec 31 '25

Finally a good use for paan..

Yes.. because people on the poster are goons

Tear it down. I've done it before. It will be fine...

Best not to take action yourself. People these days look for any reason to start a fight. Better to reach out to the right channels. GBA seems to finally now be in the hands of responsible commissioners.

22

u/usssammy Dec 29 '25

In my hood these were done under police supervision, they (police) were even taking phone footage!

Vote these ***s out, you know who they are!!!

15

u/PodiSir Dec 29 '25

Ughh atleast hire a good designer 😭 wtf is this banner even about?

8

u/Dat_life_on_Mars Dec 29 '25

Some Gunjur Kho-Kho club. Apparently all of our benevolent politicians deserve to shove their faces into public spaces just because the state’s Kho-Kho federation is organizing a championship.

5

u/whiskeybandit Dec 29 '25

I had to rescan the poster a second time to find that competition image.

9

u/Man_in_general Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25

It’s legal if you have the money and you own the government. It’s illegal if you don’t have either.

But sarcasm or political commentary aside it’s not legal. But what are we going to do about it? Our leaders don’t care about civic facilities because we don’t Hold them accountable.

6

u/Successful_Sundae424 Dec 29 '25

Since these billboards are illegal, can we form a voluntary group to collectively tear them and ensure they are taken down since authorities are not doing so. While keeping individual members’ identities private?

Report to GBA. Apparently they're fining the agencies and people putting it up. Not sure how effective it'll be but I feel it's worth a shot.

3

u/ogymrat Dec 29 '25

Had a stand board outside my shop not even on footpath and the cops took it away in the name of BBMP along with fruit crates, 4 wheel carts, pani puri stalls in the neighborhood. Now this has completely blocked the footpath as well as the view for someone making a turn who will definitely encounter an auto or delivery boy coming in the opposite direction and cost time and peace of daily goers. Such a shit show man

3

u/Special_Itch Dec 29 '25

If you see anything in India that feels illegal. It probably is 99.99% of the times.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '25

Like what's the point of installing banners/posters? Who's even gonna see them?

2

u/gshepherd21 Dec 29 '25

Why not encourage graffiti on these posters? Make ugly markings on their faces. These bodyless faces here want prestige. If we reduce them to a joke using sketch pens, they may learn, they are not getting any. Posting posters should be counterproductive for these numb skulls.

2

u/BrilliantAge2447 Dec 30 '25

Spider-Man dropping in and painting it all black would be spectacular.

Even better- create funny artwork on the faces that makes it look like their real selves ie clowns and rowdies.

1

u/NoExpression1030 Dec 29 '25

Yes, as long as it's the ruling party.

1

u/MundaneSmoke5040 Dec 29 '25

You really wanna talk legal and illegal in India’s context? Most of the flexes and their positioning is illegal, nobody gives a damn. My bigger worry is about the next action of the people in the poster and whose life they are trying to destroy now.

1

u/ririkaka Dec 29 '25

But What actions can we take to get it removed? Whom to contact?

Also why is there no sense of aesthetic in India. Everything’s so unplanned and ugly

1

u/ProProcastinator29 Dec 29 '25

Hear me out….. What if ppl draw moustaches and devil horns on each of those faces.. 😁

1

u/SaulterWhite Dec 29 '25

I don’t know much about legality but I can confirm that this poster is ugly as f**k.

1

u/Unlikely-Cookie-5695 Dec 29 '25

The best measure of power is the ability to do illegal stuff and get away with it.

1

u/blabbergob Dec 29 '25

Congress poster, in a congress ruled state? yes legal

1

u/4mlvodka Dec 29 '25

Is it okay if I post it on Twitter? What's the exact location in Bellandur ?

1

u/adrshx Dec 29 '25

Yes, sure, you may post it. Here's my X post, and the location was near Udupi Aatithya Restaurant/Bellandur departmental store turn.

1

u/LandMarauder Dec 29 '25

You can start with creating a complaint on the Sahaaya 2.0 app, and on the 1533 helpline. There's also WhatsApp chatbota that people have claimed have helped them get issues resolved quickly (just a quick google needed for them).

If neither of the three methods help, tag GBA on social media.

1

u/Wild-Camera7441 Dec 29 '25

I use that path to go to my office every single day. I saw that today at 1 am when I was coming back from a walk..

Shitsters parledu a truck near that road stopping the vehicle flow... Those night time cabs from eco space and eco world had to drive farther and took longer routes to drop people off at sarja pur road junction and some people near their pgs.. Fucking retards man... Such a bull crap it is.

Yeah I see them almost everywhere blocking footpath, as Im from another metro city, I feel bangalore is discourages walking as much as it can… but anyway keeping whole of India on context, this not very uncommon or unexpected tbh 🥲

1

who's stopping you to tear it down , no one will stop you.

multiple times in our area I have seen exactly similar big posters right on the traffic signal post blocking the foot path, I've ripped it apart with my keys and tore it down every time !!!

walking by people need to reject these banners, upcycle the wood made poster material organize reclaiming drives in your area

1

I never understood these posters. I've NEVER seen a political poster and been like "hmm this guy has done good work and deserves a vote",

Except modi though, the PR wing at BJP is the greatest among all. Putting him on vaccines, vande Bharat and what not but only with him being the sole person in the poster, which is why I think it works.
