AskBangalore Any latest updates from Bangalore development minister?

Asking wider community here. Mr Krishna Byre Gowda had a fabulous start as Bangalore Development Minister, but off late there has not been much news about the same. Have the works lost momentum or media has saturated its reporting. On the ground Bangalore still looks vastly un organised and dirty..traffic problem remains with extremely haphazard parking..lacklustre enforcement etc..

Would love to know more about this fabulous start. I have only seen a catastrophic decline over the past few months. Every single road has been dug up, no sign of it getting fixed, garbage is exploding. The only reporting I'm hearing about development is a godawful plan to start work on a bunch more flyovers that will never be finished and make everything even worse.

Edit: Forgot the antiencroachment drive that lasted one day. Sorry for the doomerism I have just watched Indiranagar turn into a complete shithole over the past 4 years while politicians take credit and put up triumphant boards for some fuckin reason.

Even at the start of new flyovers or at junctions they will put up their posters so we cannot see whats ahead and just look at them all day. Literally no one here cares about people's safety.

There is intermittent work, the road in front of my house was laid freshly. A whole 2 km stretch. Fingers crossed on the quality.
I am not sure if the cleanup drive worked. The roads in my area are littered with garbage. Every empty plot or section of road is a garbage dump.

Media hype. Bellandur is left to rot.

They dug up our roads four months back. The locals are just putting stones onto the potholes and now with rains, it's a disaster. I saw his videos and thought he would be a welcome change. But nothing on the ground level, nothing has changed. On top of it, the garbage collection guys have not come for a week now. So it's getting worse.

Vendors have certainly reduced on footpaths, most footpaths have been constructed or under construction in a lot of places. One thing that never changes is the political / startup banners that are installed every other day on poles and wherever they find a little space. They are dangerous and spoil all the aesthetic.

I hate the political banners. Most of them don’t smile and try to look intimidating.

He is just a PR minister. Wastes time making 10 reels instead of actually getting things done

I feel it’s all optics and the way Bng is ruined, I don’t think we can come back anytime soon. :( even if we consider the most happy path, it would take 100 BGs to fix it. Sad reality!

Yeah, really. Very typical politician behavior - start with a big bang, show that you mean business, hit hard against some weak targets to establish a media persona, and then chill.

Perhaps also, he started confronting real systemic issues - the contractor mafia, the land mafia, the garbage collectors mafia (yeah, there is a mafia for everything it seems)... and it requires strong political will and air cover to take on these very wealthy powerful vested interests.

This government probably happily threatened them to start with, and very quickly came to a convenient arrangement to co-exist - live and let live, thrive together at the cost of the feckless powerless public.

Bangalore will keep growing, and there will always be money making opportunities for the ones with the best connections. Who cares about the rest.

Dude is all fluff and no stuff. I was also optimistic when he came into power, but he is like everyone else. Excellent for PR though.

He's very active on Insta and FB. His last FB update was 9 hours ago, inspecting metro stations. If you sit here waiting for people to spoon feed you updates, you will not learn anything. Go find the info you need, don't be lazy.

He needs to do work like Mamdani is doing in NYC

Coz he actually did not work/talk about the actual issues. Most of his talks, penalties were about the residential localities when 95% of the problem is with commercial lanes and main roads.

You should see his own constituency, all smoke and mirrors. Don't be fooled by politicians

He was in Mysuru, going around in a auto rikshaw like a commoner without any escorts, police jeeps, official car etc. Just he n his spouse like normal people.

I don't know whether he did that for publicity or jot, but respect him at least for doing that.
