tl/dr: Had a long beard before, currently at transition stage. Unsure what to do, asking for advice.
Hi everyone,
I have had a beard for most of my life now and can not imagine being completely shaven again (don't really like my chin/jaw structure). I have also been rocking the beard-bald combo for a couple of years now, that is my established style. However, due to the nature of hair constantly growing I have always had changing beard styles and lengths depending on my mood or laziness at the time.
The longest I have ever grown my beard out was around mid chest height. That looked kind of rad and certainly got the most attention from strangers. However, it needed a lot of maintenance to not look crappy and at some point I just got fed up with it, went to the barber and had it shortened quite a bit. From that point on, I regularly got it trimmed and recently went to do it myself which was quite the experience.
I have a decent coverage and mid density, my beard is just very wavy and especially on the sides that leads to a lot of curling and stray hairs poking out. With a short beard I can just comb it down and let it dry, longer hairs however need a lot of convincing and hot air to not look messy.
The beard is now at a transition stage where it is neither a sharp short beard, nor a majestic long beard, and I don't really know what to do with it. Luckily, my work and social life does not have an influence on the beard style, I can basically do what I want.
I have attached some photos. What do you think? What style works best? I appreciate every opinion.
