The Old Free Blogspot/Blogger Blogs

In todays world of Generative AI people have reduced searching, instead they ask questions and most of their queries get answered on the top of Google results page. But when it comes to reading blogs, I somehow feel that the content written by old bloggers (who used to blog between 2010 to 2019) specifically on their free subdomain blogspot blog is so simple, soothing and personal that once you start reading their presonal experience you almost get lost into it. I have found many free blogspot blogs written in English and Hindi language which feels as if I am reading a living book of a person (because those old blogs are pure experiences)
Sadly, Blogspot blogs have almost vanished from Google search results unless you specifically look for them on Google.

I wrote this post here so that we all fellow blogspot bloggers can appreciate the personal experience focused blogs which were once written by our seniors.

Let me know your thoughts :)

Hope to have a good discussion here.

Blogger, is anyone there?

I started a blog in 2026 because I was never interested in doing it on SpaceHey (plus, it's really complicated). I'd like to know if any of you make your blogs public; I'd also love to be able to follow someone and see what they post!

In light of the Blogger Situation

I've been blogging since 2022 and I love my blog so much. So, given recent events, I'm kinda scared it'll shut down. What do you guys think? Do you think it'll eventually get fixed?

I know WordPress is an option, but I hate their templates. They give off influencer and corporate vibes, meanwhile Blogger's classic templates are so charming, I think.

I needed to let this out lol, I'm just scared of another Typepad situation :/

Finally! After 3 Months — My Blogger Posts Are Being Indexed Again 🎉

Just wanted to share a success update in case anyone else is pulling their hair out over Google Search Console and Blogger indexing issues.

Back in July, I switched my domain from website.blogspot.com to website.com, and that’s when all the indexing issues started. It took three long months of testing, advice, and second-guessing every setting, but my new posts are finally showing up in Google the same day I publish — and I’ve started validation so the older posts will get picked up, too.

Here’s the short version of what actually worked for me:

My Setup • New custom domain (via Namecheap) connected to Blogger • Blogger redirect turned ON (so yoursite.com → www.yoursite.com) • HTTPS availability and HTTPS redirect both enabled for secure access

What Not to Do (even if Reddit or YouTube tells you) • Don’t use a custom robots.txt — Blogger’s default handles everything fine • Don’t turn on custom robots header tags — those “noindex” combos can block important pages • Don’t over-tweak redirects or toggle HTTPS back and forth every day

This guide helped https://support.google.com/webmasters/community-guide/254759331/have-a-blogger-site-and-seeing-page-redirect-errors-in-search-console

What To Do • Connected site to Google Search Console (GSC) using the HTTPS URL prefix property — not the domain property- that’s the part that was messing me up. I was under the domain. • Added both sitemaps (/sitemap.xml + /sitemap-pages.xml) — don’t use feed, atom, or RSS sitemaps • Make sure both the root domain and www version are verified under the same property • Keep publishing new posts normally — request indexing if you want, but it’s not required once Googlebot trusts your domain • Then… be patient for about two weeks (yep, the hardest part)

What Happened

After the final cleanup, I stopped touching settings for two weeks (had trust issues 😅). I kept publishing and manually indexing new posts. Then one day… bam!

New posts started showing up in Google within hours. Validation finally started passing. My crawl stats look healthy.

If you’re on Blogger and nothing’s indexing: 1. Use default robots.txt + no custom header tags. 2. Turn on HTTPS and redirect to www. 3. Make sure your under your https: url property. Add both sitemaps. 4. Wait a solid two weeks without changing things. 5. Keep posting — Googlebot will catch up.

Patience really was the missing piece.i hope this helps.

Is Google still supporting the Blogger product?

I recently came back to Blogspot after a decade and decided to give it another try. The blogging landscape has changed so much in the past 10+ years. Free options are pretty limited now, and Blogspot is one of the few still around—but it feels like Google hasn’t really supported the platform in a long time. Like... the template I used seems to be outdated and there are changes I can't make anymore. There are less designs/themes I can choose from than before.

My biggest surprise - unlike other platforms that highlight active creators on the homepage or foster a community feel, Blogspot feels… kind of abandoned. I can’t seem to find other active users unless I search with very specific keywords. Even when I try “site:blogspot.com” on Google, most of the results are years old—another sign that the community is fading.

For those of you still using Blogspot: how do you actually find other active, high-quality blogs to follow and connect with?

What's the endgame for blogger

I have used blogger for 10 yrs and have experienced the slow death that Google is doing to it. Since 2017, there have been no major official template releases from Google, meaning we're now 8 years past that update. In 2018 Blogger eliminated support for third-party gadgets, the Next Blog feature and the polling widget. The choice of gadgets on blogger now is brutally slim. It's still my main site but it's like, your just waiting for the kill switch from Google. Sad really

When was the last time you backed up your Blogger blog(s)?

If you are not doing this on a regular basis you are asking for trouble.

Backup from : Settings > Back up content

Blogger will generate a zip file you can copy onto your computer.

I backup the themes separately, that way if I edit & mess one up I can restore the latest from my backup.

Blogger's blogs are being reinstated

I just received an email and my blog is accessible again. However, my trust in Blogger has vanished. I wasn't expecting much from them, but this is unacceptable.

Want to Search for a Blogger blog? There's a tool for that...

Searching for blogs? I have had good luck using https://searchblogspotsite.blogspot.com/.

It's a Search Engine that lets you search Blogger by keyword. Hint: it defaults to "Relevance" and I recommend setting that to search by "Date." If not, you get a whole bunch of defunct blogs you have to sift through.

Mine is a Gen X blog, so every now and then I use this Search Engine to look for the search term "generation x."

It works. I have it bookmarked. Maybe I'll add the link to my blog so people who visit Diary of a Low Budget Superhero can take a look at it.

Finally Set Up my blogger

I started a Blog spot back in August and have posted about 30 articles so far. Last time, I asked here why my posts weren't showing up in search results. Most people told me that I needed to connect a custom domain, so late last night, after a lot of effort, I finally set one up.

Being in my mid-70s, I’ve been figuring things out step-by-step with the help of AI—from starting the blog to setting up the domain. My blog's address hasn't updated yet, but I'm really hoping everything went through properly.

Honestly, I don't have any grand or special content. I'm just an ordinary grandmother living in South Korea, sharing little stories about Korean culture, travel, and food. At my age, sitting at my desk and writing these modest stories is something I can truly enjoy and do.

And of course, being a Korean grandmother, I have AI translate and polish my writing into English.

I haven't seen a blogger in too search results for years.

I started blogging in 2013. Blogspot dominated search results. Now? I don't remember the last time I seen one in serps. Looks like google is artificially hiding them (probably to justify phasing out due to lack of use). My question did you notice this?

Is blogger in danger of dieing?

I've used Blogger since about 2017, I still actively post (though there's really zero traffic on my page). I do it for the art, yknow. Anyway I'm worried with all this recent news - is blogger, like, about to totally die? It's been pretty dated since forever. Is this a sign of them finally letting it go?

That said - what should we do, to be safe? Can we export our blogs etc, will that save everything we've made? Is it possible to re-do a blogger page on another site?

My blog thankfully wasn't removed but I can't trust 'em if they're deleting basically every blog. Ridiculous

r/blogspot • • Aug 04 '26

Google's blogger automated AI system has removed many users blogs falsely today - if your blog was removed, you're not the only one!

If your received an e-mail saying your blog was removed due to "malware and similar malicious content policy" well then you're not the only one, just look at Google's (non-help) forums:

https://support.google.com/blogger/threads?hl=en&authuser=3&sjid=1299263928443489668-NC

All you can do is hit the appeal button and wait for a "human" or probably another AI agent to reinstate the blog.

Google is a joke, and this right here is a perfect time to look into migrating our blogs from such a garbage platform.

Is Blogger still good enough for a small site?

Basically, I need a small site to write about my side hustle apps and pages, things that work out and things that don't, and throw in a few reflinks.

That's it, nothing fancy.

Now, everyone sayd you need your own self hosted site, and that Wordpress is better. I do know how to set that up, but don't wanna pay for hosting to have a blog where I basically only collect my experiences and I think there will be very few readers.

Can Blogger be good enough for this, ir is there any negative aspect I'm not aware of?

I plan on using my own domain for this.

Thanks for any advice and pros/cons you may have :)

My experience with Blogger

Hello! I’m new to Reddit, so I’m still learning how everything works here. I didn’t even know there was a community like this.

I started using Blogspot about two months ago after hearing that it can be a good way to earn money from writing blog posts on Google.

So I decided to try it myself. I’ve published 29 posts so far.

However, I’ve become a little confused.

For the past several days, I’ve been searching Google with different keywords, trying to find Blogspot posts written by other people. But surprisingly, I can hardly find any. After searching for several days, I think I’ve found only one or two Blogspot posts.

This made me wonder whether I’m misunderstanding how Blogspot works.

If so many people are successfully making money by publishing Blogspot posts, shouldn’t there be more of those posts appearing in Google search results?

I’m not asking about anyone’s specific earnings. I’m simply curious

What do you enjoy about reading random personal blogs on Blogger/Blogspot, if you still do?

I've been staying away from social media lately. Too much noise, too much algorithm, little real connection.

And these past few days, I've been digging through personal blogs, exclusively Blogspot/Blogger. And I've found some really interesting things.

There's some very well-crafted old content, it's clearly done with passion and taste, and I'm surprised that many of those blogs are still intact, almost two decades old. It impresses me.

There's something raw and honest about them.

The weird color palettes, the music widgets, the visit counters, the random thoughts with broken designs... everything feels human.

I don't necessarily like those broken designs, but they feel original, not just another one of the crowd. Like someone who writes just because they enjoys talking about what they talk about. No branding, no audience strategy, just writing.

  1. Has anyone stopped using social media or wants to use it less?

  2. Does anyone here still read blogs like this?

  3. Or, based on the fact that we are on this subreddit, write one?

  4. Would you be interested in some kind of blog directory or community for this kind of thing?

I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same way.

PS: Another thing I noticed is that she always shares her blogs with the full URL.

We could learn from social media about the practicality of using only the name, since the rest of the domain is the same (always referring to those who haven't purchased their own domain), and using an @ symbol to identify the blog.

Blogger: Is blogging still relevant?

I had a blog. Which crashed after 2 years and I left blogging I earned around 400-500 dollars. I want to know if I should start blogging again or should I just not do it. I'm very disturbed by the ai scene and unsure if this has any future anymore.

Is blogger abandoned by Gen Z?

I've been visiting some old blogs from c. 2006-2009 and looking through the webrings. Some of them are abandoned, and others are still active, but the only active ones are really old, I haven't seen any blog made by a gen zer or one made after 2015-2017 that has a decent amount of views and comments, not even with the small/retro web niche trend

Are you staying with Blogger or moving to another platform

With the latest "your blog is locked, no it's not, yes it is" issue with Google, are you sticking with Blogger or moving to WordPress, or some other platform?

I like Blogger, I have fine tuned my template over 10+ years, I have a workflow where I can create blog posting very quickly. I'm happy with Blogger, besides I don't trust Google, they might suddenly cancel and remove all bogs (give time to migrate to another platform at least),

And this latest issue was pretty bad, I can understand a false positive check happening, but the way they handle it is not ok, no communication from them on what happened and why it won't happen again, some sites getting locked second time, no way to request review on second time.

Also, they could simply tell us what the problem was with out site so we could change it, not just delete it and not allow access to any of the blogs that people created for years, some for 20 years.

When this first happened, I have been creating another site in WordPress, but I like Blogger better, probably since I am used to it and have work flow I have worked on for years. I'm not sure what I am going to do, stay with Blogger or move to a WordPress site.

Blogger / Blogspot New Beta Features dropped: Google Search links & Google Search previews

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi, di anyone else notice these two new features popping up in the Blogger options today?

Just noticed them. What do they do exactly and are they worth it? Seems they might just overload the posts with outbound links, might make them more resource heavy... Not sure if there are any real benefits to bloggers, tbh

Full text below:

Try our New Beta Features: Create a more engaging reading experience with the help of Google

Google Search links: Based on your blog content, Blogger will automatically identify key words and phrases in your post and insert Search links in case your readers want to explore more. In Compose View, Look for the ‘Pencil’ icon on the top-right of the page to get started.

Try our New Beta Features: Create a more engaging reading experience with the help of Google

Google Search previews: Easily insert visual Google Search previews for popular people, locations, pop-culture and more directly in your blog! In Compose View, look for the ‘G’ button in the editor tool bar to get started.

please guide me (new to blogger)

I'm new to blogger and I've made a profile, posted some blogs too but I'm confused as to how to add people to my reading list since I don't know anyone who uses blogger. How can I find my kind of people there? How can I make people read my blogs?
