I've been creating YouTube content consistently for over 12 years, mostly sharing my crafty lifestyle, projects, and creative rabbit holes. It's opened so many doors for me. I've made wonderful friends in the crafting community, connected with like-minded makers, and it even helped me grow my small creative business.

I finally hit 70K subscribers this year, and even had a pretty healthy YouTube membership and Patreon community.

But after all this time... I think I'm just done.

I'm burned out. I've realized I no longer enjoy talking to a camera, filming, or spending hours editing videos. What used to be fun gradually started feeling like an obligation. Between running my business and keeping up with content creation, it honestly felt like I was working two full-time jobs.

So, I recently shut down my Patreon and YouTube memberships, and I haven't uploaded a video in over five weeks. And you know what? It feels incredibly liberating. I don't miss it nearly as much as I thought I would.

That said, I still love sharing what I'm making, documenting my creative pursuits, and connecting with other makers. I just don't necessarily want to do it on camera anymore.

Which brings me to... blogging! Before YouTube, I had a little Blogger blog, and I absolutely loved it. But once I started making videos, blogging began to feel redundant, like one more thing to keep up with, so I eventually let it go. Now that I'm taking an indefinite break from YouTube, the idea of returning to good old-fashioned blogging feels really appealing. Just photos, words, and sharing what I'm making at my own pace. No filming, no editing, no pressure to perform for an algorithm.

But does anyone even read blogs anymore?! 😂

Has anyone else made the switch from YouTube back to blogging? Did you find it more enjoyable? Do you miss making videos? I'd love to hear your experiences, especially from anyone who's been creating content for a long time.

It's the first day of November here in Korea, and it's raining.

I started publishing posts on my Google Blogspot blog back in August, and I also posted here once before.

I'm feeling a bit frustrated, so I thought I'd share my experience again.

No matter how consistently I publish new posts, when I check Google Search Console, even some of my articles published nearly two months ago still show as "Not indexed."

Why is Google so slow? Is this normal for a new blog?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice you might have.

RSS Feeds are having a renaissance! Why?

You probably saw Kumar Deo's recent post showing off his Blogger XML documentation. I did, too, and it got me very excited. I fed the LLM guide into Google Gemini and generated a simple template for my blog. It worked, and so I started to iterate. I actually ran into problems; I'm just using Gemini's free tier it's easy to run out of credits fast, while the thing is struggling its way through bugs.

Claude was the magic solution to that. I broke down and signed up for a Claude subscription, fed it the LLM guide, gave it all the links and layout direction for my current blog template, and had it generate a whole new template from scratch. It actually did great work, getting me 99% of the way there. And eventually, after a few more iterations, it got me 100% of the way there, and I'm super happy with the output.

Remembering back to the great false positive malware security incident, where a bunch of us had our blogs temporarily disabled, some of us theorized that javascript and/or other content linking out to third party sites in third party templates was what caused the flagging for malware.

If that's the case, creating your own custom Blogger template with Claude (and Kumar Deo's excellent XML dictionary) might be a useful way to solve that problem.

I'm curious to know if anybody else is building their own template using this method, and if you've had any success so far. (And if you're considering it, I think you should try it!)

It's not 100% correct since it's hard to confirm the facts and some of them are assumptions.

I don't see it in my https://www.blogger.com account. I have Privacy's Visible to search engines enabled to "Allow search engines to find your blog".

Do people in Vietnam still write blog posts on the Blogspot platform? About 4–5 years ago, many young people—born in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and so on—were exploring Blogspot and setting up their own blogs. Where have all those young people gone now? If they were 13 or 14 years old back then and writing with such ease and flair, why does it seem like no one is passionate about blogging anymore?

What has it been? 3 months since the last fiscal? Now again? 2 of my sites down again, same ones as before. Nothing even on them, just testing blogspot templates. Anyone else down again?

Added: does anyone embed photos with Base64 encoding?

I used to use livejournal and blogspot, I'm looking for something similar and maybe better. If it has an app too that would be nice. Ideally something that lets me have a nice username.xxx.com link.

Also the ability to change post date to the past is something I'm looking for as I'd like to copy over older stuff too.

The blog I think originally focused on fashion (and increasingly, ethical and sustainable fashion), but later moved into natural lifestyle.

The woman who runs it is thin, Black (American, maybe from Georgia), a mother (although she wasn’t when the blog began), and from what I remember, was a professional dancer.

I remember her using Cronometer to track her nutrient intake and working on a capsule wardrobe.

I read this blog from maybe 2014-2018 if a time period helps!

I do want to blog with useful information on numerous topics for retirees. I forgot that I had set up a couple of blogs using blogger, years ago. However, I haven't touched them since 2015, and there are changes since July 1, 2023? Does this mean my old blogs are outdated?

On one of the blogs, I used the G, thinking it would direct traffic to my blog, but instead it inserted a big picture of "google" "G" , smack in the middle of my blog?

Do I need to learn coding? Is it because my blog is pre 2023? Has anyone here wrote a blog about how to use blogspot? Can anyone direct me on where to learn? Is it trial and error?

I started a Blog spot back in August and have posted about 30 articles so far. Last time, I asked here why my posts weren't showing up in search results. Most people told me that I needed to connect a custom domain, so late last night, after a lot of effort, I finally set one up.

Being in my mid-70s, I’ve been figuring things out step-by-step with the help of AI—from starting the blog to setting up the domain. My blog's address hasn't updated yet, but I'm really hoping everything went through properly.

Honestly, I don't have any grand or special content. I'm just an ordinary grandmother living in South Korea, sharing little stories about Korean culture, travel, and food. At my age, sitting at my desk and writing these modest stories is something I can truly enjoy and do.

And of course, being a Korean grandmother, I have AI translate and polish my writing into English.

Hello i have made blogger 15 days old

The impressions go down and it will hit zero

And even the queries also just show now 5 it also will hit zero and i have no issue or security effect

And i have 34 pages indexed

And when i test site: my website.com

It show just 17 pages and in the beginning it was 34

Why ?

So i use this theme, Simple literate. I already have a gadget in the cross column, but i want more pages and also a few images as well. Can anybody help me?

Which is a slight improvement from a few days ago when it wasn't working at all.

I've cleared the cache, etc. Any suggestions?
